I'm surprise this doesn't happen anymore. It seemed like it just stopped back in the later WCW days. From 96-99 it seemed like every WCW Main Event on Nitro had fans throwing crap in the ring. Personally, I hated it. Wasn't safe for the wrestlers. But, my question is do you guys ever think the "trash" era will ever come back lol
If John Cena ever turned heel I could see it happening.
Thoughts?

The crowd threw trash in the ring when Big Show won the ECW Championship back in 2006.

i wish people in the front row at MitB would've thrown streamers and confetti at Punk while he was sitting like at ROH.

I remember watching an CZW match and at the end people are throwing cups and food at the wrestler. Next thing, a toaster comes in to view and hits him right in the face, KO'ing him. That's probably why it won't return

That is a direct result of what happens when fans actually get emotionally invested in the product. Is it unsafe? Yes, to some degree. But I think most top heels would love to have the fans act so intensely that they would be provoked into tossing garbage in the ring after a match. I miss crowds like that to be honest, crowds where that area between real and kayfabe was completely grey to the audience. Wrestling is all about the suspension of disbelief imo.
I want to see Dolph Ziggler be LBJ in Boston after game 6. Fans so pissed they want to dump beer all over him because he is that damn good. If only WWE would book it that way.

It costed Droz career.
But the one at Heyman was pretty funny though. When I think it was Hogan beating Nash, lots of crap was thrown in their. Also that battery incident with Shawn Michaels.

People threw quarters and D sized battery's at Jericho during a show. Its dangerous and Im glad people dont do it anymore.

If Cena won at MITB last year, then they definitely would have thrown trash in the ring IMO.

Throwing garbage in the ring is trashy. That is why it happened in WCW all the time. I think fans nowadays have more respect than to throw garbage at the wrestlers.

they pretty much tell you before shows now anyone caught throwing things towards the ring will be thrown out and/or arrested. They didnt do that back in the 90s with WCW. It wasnt "encouraged" but of the numerous shows I went to they never once said "dont do it"

The crowd threw trash in the ring when Big Show won the ECW Championship back in 2006. They also did it when Mabel won King of the Ring. Care to guess what the 2 events had in common?

I remember Vince's suit getting covered in soda after the WM2000 main event. During his hug with Stephanie. Great moment.

You'd probably get arrested, and banned from WWE events if you did that nowadays... yet DX can throw glowsticks at people, and Cena and other guys can throw their clothes at people

I don't think it's something that will ever return.
The only way it work "work" in this day and age is in a city where the crowd was consistently rowdy and authorities would have no measure to stop it.
For example, if one or two guys are just going to throw their cups in the ring, they'll get ejected and we'll move on.
But I think in certain instances, in certain cities, it could happen.
For example, had Cena won at Hammerstein Ballroom against Van Dam, I have little doubt they would have showered the ring in trash.
Same deal last year, I think Chicago would have done something similar had Punk lost at Money in the Bank.
