I normally find my stuff at retail but if I EVER buy from eBay, I buy whatever is closet to retail price with decent shipping.

I think if no one supported scalpers then scalpers wouldn't exsist but unfortunatley there will always be that one rich a-hole spending $150 + shipping on a E15 Rey because it's not in stores yet.
There have a few times where I paid scalper prices and 90% of the time with regrets. I paid $40 shipped for BOPPV Bret Hart only to see 2 of them at my TRU a month later. Same goes with MOTUC He-Man. I paid $55 shipped for him, now he is an everyday item on Matty. It is our lack of paitence and our need for instant gratification that drives the scalper force. If we stop buying from them then they'll be in stores more often, and eventually there would be no reason to short pack certain figures, because every figure is selling equally.
Don't get me wrong, back in December I paid $28 shipped for E11 CM Punk and I am glad I did because I never saw him at retail. I also paid a boat load for the Transformers Prime First Edition figures but those were cancelled, even on spamS, and they have only gone up since so in retrospect the prices were reasonable compared to now. I still have a feeling I am going to be regreting that later for some weird reason.
Lately I find that if I am "not" looking for it at retail that is when I find what I am looking for. The only time I can justify spending a ton of $ on a figure is if it is something like a an orginal 1977 Darth Vader figure or a LJN Ultimate Warrior MOC. Sad reality is that the prices we're spending on figures from a scalper now goes down in value, and take many years for it to go up. They profit off our impulses.

I stopped buying from scalpers after I paid nearly $50 for E11 Punk only to find one at retail three days after mine arrived. Now if I can't find it elsewhere I just do without.

I try and stay away from scalpers when possible. One of the reasons i collect loose figures is because i can save some money that way and im pleased to say i havent been ripped off much. A1 comics is another scalper i dont know why people buy from him...seriously you are buying plastic not gold...give up if you have to resort to scalpers.

Most of the time i just keep checking the local retail stores and try to find the figure some other way. I did finally cave and bought an elite flashback papa shango from ebay when he first came out. I paid $42.00 shipped for him.

Never. I have always been able to find everything in stores (but I do live in areas with many stores to check). Since 2012, I've been having a pretty hard time finding basics though and I'm still looking for series 15 as well as the rare ones from 14, 16, and 18.

Nope. If I can't get it from RSC or mass retail I just don't get it. I refuse to buy anything from ebay/scalpers What about when you can't find it at retail but the scalpers prices are cheaper than RSC?

It's actually not that bad. The Scalpers are actually a bit helpful. I know there are many areas in the USA that do not have the privileged of getting certain Series elite or basics in their retail stores. It mainly has to do with the marketing and demographics in certain areas. For example, I live in California. The Walmarts and Targets always get full supplies of almost every series except a few. Now, a state like Kansas or Cincinnati will probably receive a less steady supply of all the recent series.
A reseller can make a few bucks and at the same time provide a collector in a depleted area a figure he or she really wants. I like to buy multiple rare figures and post them on ebay for a very reasonable price. I usually only profit about $5-14 which compensates for gas and time.
I have purchased some figures for above retail from eBay a few times. I have never seen Brodus Clay or any other figures from that series anywhere in my area. And this is coming from guy who visits multiple targets and walmarts twice weekly. So I paid $23 for Clay, $28 for e11 Punk, $19 for e11 Barret ect.

But yeah, I hate scalpers. I wish it was somehow illegal. Every time I read someone post, "Hey I went to the store and I found all the new sets so I bought them all and posted them ebay." It's like, great job bunghole, why don't you get a real job so you don't have to screw collectors over, assmunch. I still don't understand this theory. If Walmart sells you an Elite for 16.98 (or whatever it is), I hope you realize that Walmart is "scalping" you.. because they didn't pay that much for it. I know with Jakks Classic Superstars, Walmart sold them for like $12 each... they cost Walmart something like $8-$9. They were scalping you too. The country I live in (America) is BASED on capitalism. Buying and selling. And if someone makes an Elite 11 CM Punk cost $60? Well, don't buy it! Then they'll have to make the price something people will pay. If they sell it for $60, though.. then obviously, that's what the market has determined is the value for that figure. The best part of your rant? "Get a real job".. where? What company do you think you can work for that doesn't in some way buy things cheap and sell them for a higher profit? Other than some service industries.. that's how this country (and Walmart, Kmart, TRU, Roses, Food Lion, Burger King, Wendys, McDonalds, Ross, Kohls, Gamestop, and all the rest of the retail places) makes money and operates. Is it stupid when someone has an Eziekel Jackson Elite 16 online for $150 Buy It Now? Well.. yes.. but if I had one, and I knew that someone would pay that for it? Yeah.. mine would be on eBay too. As far as buying online.. I have bought a few figures online lately, but they've been mostly older Jakks figures. I was NOT able to find Micheal McGillicutty at retail, so I did end up having to pay $20 to get him. That hurt a bit, but it's supply and demand, so what can you do?

Two more things.... I never support these damn Chumlees. I never understood this. I've watched this show.. Chumlee hardly ever buys anything. Rick, Cory, and the Old Man all buy things at a lower price, and sell them higher. How are they Chumlees? The other thing is this. I would gladly pay $25 or $30 shipped for an Elite I want as opposed to running all over the place looking for the same figure for like $18-$20 in the store. It's all a matter of what something is worth.

I don't buy from scalpers or eBay, just Ringside. Although sometimes I feel like they're the ultimate scalper. $39.99 for the new Natalya? That's crap. I'll wait for her to hit retail and get her for $10+.

Chum Lee looks like the typical scalper who waits in front of the store for the doors to open. Last time I saw Chum buy something it was a fake Gibson for about $1500. He was screwed. This pic was taken when nobody in the U.S. could find this 2 pack.

I was NOT able to find Micheal McGillicutty at retail, so I did end up having to pay $20 to get him. That hurt a bit, but it's supply and demand, so what can you do? Not a lot of Walmarts in NYC. I have Kmarts and the Time Square Toys R Us. Stores like Walmart and Kmart normally sell their items at suggested retail prices. I'll use Kmart as an example because I have one on my street that I walk to. You see, Kmart is a convenience to me on several other things other than action figures. They're open late, they have employees who can help me, and since I like Kmart I'm willing to pay a little extra on items so they can pay their rent and have electricity for lights and air conditioning. A scalper on the other hand is a cockroach to society. Scalpers go to the same stores I go to, and buy things I want so they can resell them for 10x the price if they feel like. Capitalism wasn't founded on selling Elite 11 CM Punk's for $95, no matter how you stretch it and no matter how much some idiots are willing to pay. Buying up supplies of everything and reselling for ridiculous prices is not capitalism. That's being an assshole. By the way, scalping isn't a real job. Which is why I suggested them to get real jobs. If they had real jobs they would make a lot more money and could quit making petty cash on action figures. I know this, because I have scalped things when I was younger. I bought a PS3 the year they came out for Christmas and they were impossible to find in stores. I bought it just so I could sell it. But those were different times, I was a poor kid then and it seemed like easy cash. Scalping crap like that now is ing waste of time. Now I don't live in Virginia, maybe it's rough down there and that's what people have to do to make ends meet.

There's a cart here at the staten island mall in NY that sells figures at crazy prices they had an elite king sheamus for 40 bucks when it 1st came out. I see some newer figures there but never even bother asking prices anymore

Now I don't live in Virginia, maybe it's rough down there and that's what people have to do to make ends meet. I don't know if scalping is any worse here than any place else. The popular stuff goes fast, sure, but I just don't know if scalpers have snatched them up or not. When Wal-Mart puts out one case of something and figs are one per case and they sell quickly, only to never be restocked, it could just be a lucky collector or kid or who knows what at the right place, right time. It feels like there must be a ton of Mattel WWE stuff just sitting somewhere, waiting to be unleashed. Or did they really make ten times as many Basic 13 and Signature Series 2 than they did of everything else?

I have used ebay and amazon to grab some stuff I missed out on, didn't start on mattels until like June of 2011 so it was necessary to get some of the older stuff...sucks but thats how it is, I can deal with that...but what really sucks now is when you actively check multiple retail locations and still can't find what you want. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that these short packed figs couldn't be offered on matty collector or mattel shop, that way when retail gets flooded with all those cenas/ortons/reys that sell so well there would still be an option. I swear its as if they don't want our money sometimes...
