I have a collection of maybe about 20-25 Blu-Rays but I'm starting to wonder if they are worth it, I have some of the same movies on DVD. I don't exactly have an amazing TV so Blu Ray is kinda wasted on it. (I use a PS3.)
I'm not sure whether to stick with DVD or not, or just keep Blu Rays of my 'favorites'. I think DVD will last longer than Blu Ray, Although digital copies are definitely on the rise. I'm sure there will be something else in the future...
What is your preferred choice when it comes to Films and TV Shows.

Blu ray of course. Nowadays, blu rays will come with a DVD copy as well. When it comes to TV shows, I'll get whatever format the previous season is, I like to have all seasons the same format.

As I have a 3D TV I said that. But Blu-Ray is clearly better than DVDs, DVDs are just cheaper.

DVD! Because not all computers can play Blu-ray. All Computers play DVDs except not all laptops have the disc space on the sides. I do like the quality of Blu-Ray but DVDs I just prefer most. And not all good DVDs are on Blu-Ray

BUT I still buy most of my stuff on DVD.Dredd being the most recent one.

Blu Ray, I really dislike watching stuff in standard definition now, so I buy anything I want that's out on BR in that format. Thankfully my Blu Ray player also upscales so while it's not perfect the DVDs I have are closer to HD that way.

I buy all my movies on Blu Ray now; I still have a huge collection of upwards of 300 DVDS; but I've traded in some of my big favorites just to upgrade to Blu Ray; and have over 100 Blu rays now.
TV shows; I'll still buy on DVD; like Supernatural for example, I bought the first 2 seasons on DVD so I buy each new one on DVD too.

Blu-Ray. I'll never understand the people that buy high definition TVs and then only watch regular cable and DVDs on them. What's the point?
When Blu-Rays first started to become prominent, I understood picking and choosing certain films to buy on Blu because they were so much more expensive, nowadays, they've become so reasonable (and usually include multiple formats of the film) that I simply could not justify every purchasing a DVD of a film that is available on Blu-Ray. To me, DVDs look absolutely horrible on HDTVs, whether played at their native resolution, or upconverted to HD.
I haven't purchased a DVD since 2009, nor do I plan to ever again. For a while, I was making exceptions for TV shows, but I won't do that anymore either, unless I have to own it now and it hasn't been released on Blu-Ray yet, or an older show that wouldn't benefit at all from high definition.

I don't have a Blu-Ray player so I go with the DVD option, but mayb when I get the new Xbox which supposedly has one I'll get some and check it out.

I'm trying to make the switch by 'trimming the fat' from my DVD collection, but a lot of films I love don't have Blue Ray editions.
But yeah, Blu Ray. DVD's look pretty gross quality wise on my hdtv, even with the PS3 upscaling feature thing.

When I rented Terminator 2 from the video store I used to work at and saw how much better it looked and sounded on BR despite being so old (thank God for film restoration!), I was immediately sold on BR for life.

DVD because I have so many that I can't even begin to replace them with Blu-Rays...I'll wait for the next type of system.
