JR says it is legit:
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has commented on the injury suffered by WWE Champion John Cena while overseas this weekend. Via JRsBarBQ.com:
“WWE.com reporting that WWE Champion John Cena has sustained an injury while on the European Tour. The report states that Cena has issues with his right, Achilles tendon which can be a dicey matter. Achilles injuries can be puzzling especially if they aren’t torn and don’t require surgery. In other words these types of injuries can linger if one doesn’t get the proper rest and allow the tendon to heal. The injury is legit as Cena has been suffering through this matter for several days even though he hasn’t missed any bookings. Always said the man has the work ethic and toughness of an offensive lineman which is a good thing.”

I'm still surprised at the level of hate Cena gets. I don't care what you say about him, the guy is a true pro.

If he is badly injured and has to miss a lot of time I would do the following. Have Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come out while Cena is cutting his promo about vacating the title. They state that when Brock Lesnar "re-signed" back in January within that contract was a guaranteed shot at the WWE title and he wants that shot right now. Cena and Lesnar have a very quick match..ends with the F5 and Brock is the WWE Champion. The Steel Cage match at Extreme Rules can then be for the WWE Title with Triple H trying to save the WWE title and the WWE from Heyman and Lesnar. Then say if Cena is back in like 2/3 months he and Lesnar can have another match where Cena gets the belt back and Brock goes off until Summerslam or whatever.

So Ryback (the number 1 contender) isn't envolved anywhere?

"The injury raises questions about the scheduled match between Cena and Ryback at Extreme Rules on May 19. What lies ahead for the Cenation leader? Does this put Ryback one step closer to capturing the WWE Title?"
If they hadn't of added that last line i might well have believed it to be legit but i think this one is a work.
I used to be a Cena hater but he has won me over the last couple of years and i wish him well if he is injured.

We deserves this predicament imo. I don't wish Cena harm, at all, but WWE should have prepared for a day when Cena wouldn't be around and they just haven't imo. The only guy that even makes sense to give the title to at this point is Ryback. ADR, Sheamus or Orton being forced on us would seemingly make sense too I guess, maybe even Big Show. I think Cena is going to be fine honestly, but if WWE has to go out there without Cena and Punk, I'm dying to see who they let carry the ball.

If this injury is legitimate, and it turns out being relatively severe, it puts WWE in a serious predicament, one that, quite honestly, is more or less unprecedented.
I don't want to insinuate that I'm glad Cena is hurt, or that I wish him to be out for an extended period of time, but if he is, this is going to be "put up or shut up" time for WWE. It's going to become readily apparent very quickly that they haven't cared about anything but Cena for nearly a decade. There is no one ready to fill his role. No one even close. Punk is the closest thing they've got, and he's on vacation. Ryback could have squeaked by as the top babyface for a few months, but they (of course) turned him heel. There is no contingency plan. It's Cena or nothing.
From a development and story standpoint, Cena being forced to take time off could end up doing wonders in the long run - both for the product, and for him. I can't ever think of a time that a character has ever been as stale as Cena is now. Time off could be a great thing for him.

I'm not saying he deserves anything (even though we aren't totally sure it's Ryback's fault Cena is injured). I'm just saying that in your proposed storyline there would be a huge loose end with Ryback... Unless you would want to make it a triple threat cage match between him, Lesnar and HHH.

I don't understand how people are actually saying that Ryback was at fault for this. Do you guys know what an Achilles injury is? Unless you're Matt Cooke in the NHL and step on the back of someone's ankle with a skate blade there's pretty much no way you can injure another person's Achilles. It's a non-contact injury, like an ACL tear. All it takes is for you to plant your foot funny or roll an ankle or something and you can blow it out. Very fluky type of injury.

Yeah, I have no idea why people are blaming Ryback for this, it's an injury that is more than likely self-inflicted. And Ryback did not injure Punk either, Punk was having knee problems already.
Anyway, I would never wish an injury on anyone, but it might be nice to get a break from Cena. It will be interesting to see what WWE will do if Cena is out for a number of months, especially with no Punk until June/July.

All I'm gonna say is all who think Ryback injured Cena is a FOOL.
And if he does need time off. Ryback as WWE Champion will be much much better anyway.

Orton will step in. He draws. Fans love him. No way they give Ryback the belt though.
Honestly it'd be awesome if somehow Mark Henry get the belt though. First full African American champion!

John deserves any injuries he gets to his feet lower leg. wear freaking wrestling boots and not sneakers And this times a million. I've always been very against the fact that he wrestles in low cut sneakers. That's litterally BEGGING for severe ankle injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if his career is cut short due to ankle/leg problems. I also feel its a damn disgrace to the sport, you don't wrestle in sneakers. Period. And Wells your sig just had me rolling. I litterally just got back into Arrested Development last night I watched the whole first season on netflix lol. I hadn't watched it since its inital run and I'm a lot older now so I get a lot more of it. Tobias is definately my favorite character LOL.
