Yo,
Just wondering who is the true indy fans amongst you all? Obviously there are several ROH/PWG fanboys who either a) Watch the previews and think they are a fan or b) watch shows online somewhere.
I am sure there are plenty of true fans amongst people on this board I am just interested to know who they are.
Cheers.

This thread is extremely pointless. There is no "true" or "untrue"/"real" or "fake" fans.

why is everything centered?
I have every ACW, AIW, CHIKARA, CZW, PWG, DGUSA, Evolve, & SHIMMER DVD released to date and apart from the new DGUSA DVD that I haven't got time to watch yet, I've watched them all at least once. I've been very passionate about watching the indies for a little over 7 years now and used to regularly attend shows. I became pretty good friends with several "big name" wrestlers. No, I am not going to drop names. Unfortunately the scene around here has died off and most of my wrestling friends have moved, which kind of kills my desire to hop in a car for a 5 hour trek for good wrestling.
How would watching the DVD previews and calling yourself a fan even work?

This thread is extremely pointless. There is no "true" or "untrue"/"real" or "fake" fans. So you are saying there is no difference between someone who streams/watches small indy companies online, too someone who pays the 15 bucks?

Yes, what you're saying is if a little 8 year old kid buys a John Cena he's automatically a WWE fan. At least the person puts enough effort to actually watch it, how much money you spend doesn't mean anything to be honest.

You strike me as a very pompous and pretentious person.
You're gonna fit in here in the Lounge Board.

It differs in the sense of moral, but doesn't make one a "true" or "untrue" fan. Hahaha

Hahaha Absolutely it's the same thing as music, can the same people who are acting so high and mighty about finding content online claim they have never illegally downloaded music, everyone has seen something pirated. I watch some Japanese stuff online but if I want to see an Indy DVD I usually just order it so I can watch it on a screen larger than 15 in. I get both sides of the argument though because more eyes on the product does mean more potential fans too

I used to LOVE indy wrestling. I still believe in it, but feel the talent pool is SO dry right now.

I consider myself one. Have seen every PWG show (minus a couple) since 2010 and a couple of from that, almost every ROH since 2010 (minus a bunch of TV and couple iPPVs) not to mention every 2005-2006 ROH show and I've seen matches and highlight videos from probably every show they've ever put on. Seen a bunch of Chikara including every iPPV and have a couple shows (followed the results of every show, but never got around to watching them all), seen mostly every DGUSA/Evolve show since 2011. Not to mention sporadically watching IWA-MS, AIW, AAW, NJPW, AAA, CMLL, FIP, MLW, CPW, 3PW, FWE, HOH, Shimmer, Shine, XPW, and more random local feds.

I don't know if I'm an actual fan. I'd like to think I am.. I don't watch anything religiously, usually dot around things. Right now trying to watch a lot of 06/07 ROH and 03-05 IWA-MS & CZW.

The only promotion as far as any wrestling is concerned that I keep up with completely is SHIMMER. I used to buy a lot of Chikara DVD's as well and have about 7 PWG DVD's. I plan on getting more, it's just...having the funds to buy them. I've started a SHINE collection and I'm starting to get into WSU now that they've changed ownership and the shows aren't horrible.
There are other Independents I want to check out like AIW, Dragon Gate USA, Evolve and ACW. But again, at the moment, financially it probably wont happen for a little while.

I keep up with PWG & ROH the best I can. Guess I'm not a real fan, shucks.

I like going to indy shows - is that what you're asking? I haven't been to one in a while - but I'm about to embark on a week-long journey of indy shows... should be interesting... Tomorrow night - CCW in Lebanon, PA - Jake "The Snake" Roberts is supposed to be there.... UPDATE: Here are my photos/videos from the event: forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/287775/jake-snake-roberts-autograph-signingSaturday night - UWE in Harrisburg, PA - Honky Tonk Man, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Brutus Beefcake, and Boogeyman are supposed to be there.... *UPDATE: Here are my photos/videos from the event: forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/287843/hacksaw-duggan-beefcake-autograph-signingAnd next week - Funkdafied Wrestling, Newark, DE - Kevin Nash is advertised. I'm going to all three shows - and I've been known to get loud & vocal with the talent - I like to have fun at these things. I'm going with a real fun group of guys tomorrow night. You probably wouldn't consider me a "hardcore" fan - but I like to go, support them, and hopefully meet some legends. Fair enough?
