This whole argument about how books are outdated and movies are the new way of story telling, here is my opinion. I enjoy reading books because, while the author gives you descriptions of people/settings, it's still up to you and your imagination to decide precisely how that person or setting looks. When I read a book, I don't picture the character exactly the same way you do, but when I watch a movie, I am seeing the exact same character appearance that you are, therefore almost eliminating any creative or imaginative description I can come up with on my own. That's why I like reading. While the story is the same beginning and end, it's a little different for everyone who reads it.
To answer the questions, I'm a big Chuck Pahlaniuk fan, and one of his favorites of mine is actually Rant.

Absolutely love The Catcher in the Rye & Nineteen Eighty-Four. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest gets an honourable mention too. I really don't read enough fiction & find myself reading biographies too much. Should really sort that out. I read mainly bios also.

Green Eggs & Ham
I mean seriously, the build up is tremendous. In a house, a car, a box a tree...everywhere Sam-I-Am tries to get him to try green eggs & ham and yet he always refuses...then finally at the end he tries it and LOVES IT! Man, what a climax
