^ Yeah he could have been much better.
I will hold out hope they at least tweak it after the mostly negative reaction fans had of his look.

The film has only been going for 5 weeks; give it time, I doubt what we're seeing is the fully finished character. You can easily change eye colour digitally, and you can change size easily too, and remember he can change size at will; whats to say he doesn't/cant? We're only really seeing images from this one shot where he's SUPPOSED to look friendly and inviting whilst recruiting.
Give it time peeps!

just back from Ant Man which I absolutely LOVED.. here are my spoiler free thoughts
Paul Rudd was GREAT as Scott Lang.....absolutely great. You really wanna root for the guy.Really enjoyed the entire cast actually......Pena & TI were great in the roles of the crew.
Douglas was fab as Pym and I loved the Howard Stark/Peggy Carter interaction at the start. Lily was great in her role too and I really hope we see more of her and Douglas.
Everybody needs to listen to the Reporter at the end carefully.
I loved the way Reed paced the movie......the 3rd act truly is one of the best Marvel have given us. and the post credit scenes are absolutely worth waiting for. Marvel again have me gasping for their next movie.
I really hope the box office is reflective of how good this movie is. I would compare it VERY favourably to GOTG because its different to what we have seen from Marvel thus far just like GOTG was.......
crammed with great nods and winks too.....

Saw Ant Man last night. And I too loved it. Not my favorite MCU film, but I was entertained throughout. Cast was perfect. Very humorous as well. Wouldn't mind seeing it again in a few weeks.

Saw Ant-man yesterday. It was a swing and a miss for me. Probably one of my favorite casts assembled for a solo MCU movie and unfortunately that wasn't enough. I kept waiting for the film to hit its stride and it never happened, although I thought the Falcon encounter was going to be the moment, as that was the high spot of the film. The comedy was meh. There were two or three times where I chuckled but I'm apparently not as in love with Michael Pena as others. He actually took away from the film imo. I don't like overtly idiotic characters designed to force comedy, and this was one of the worst examples of that scenario in recent memory. Just not funny at all. TI was the pleasant surprise in the comedy department for me.
Needless to say, this is near the very bottom of the list for me. This isn't something I want to watch again, and the only part that I really popped for was the very end post credit scene, which had nothing to do with Ant-man. However, I will say that Scott and Hope would make awesome additions to the Avengers cast. I wish I didn't sit through a stand alone film with them and they just would have shown up in Avengers though. From a technical standpoint, Ant-man was fine, quality acting, the story was about as simple and linear as it gets, and the effects were done as well as they could, but I just don't think the premise was strong enough to keep me entertained for a full two hours. Ant-man is a side character, not a leading man, and this film proved that to me.
Ultimately, I'm not losing any sleep over it. It was an introductory film to something more, and I want to see more of them, but this just did nothing for me and it doesn't get a pass just because I love the MCU.

Saw it last night and it was overall a good movie, but not a great movie. I felt things were rushed and the final battle was meh, but it was better than Guardians of the Galaxy for sure. Also thought the way the movie ended was weird.

You're literally the only person who I've seen have that opinion, so it's kinda surprising to me. I do see your point and if you don't like the "wow, this person is dumb" comedy then it would definitely lose you because there was a lot of it. Saw it last night and it was overall a good movie, but not a great movie. I felt things were rushed and the final battle was meh, but it was better than Guardians of the Galaxy for sure. Also thought the way the movie ended was weird. Really? I thought the final fight was the best they've had in an MCU movie by far. Then again, a lot of the other ones hardly have final "fights" against the main villain (apparently the phrase "big" "bad" is censored?). On another note, it was the second-lowest opening weekend for an MCU film ahead of Hulk, but did win the box office... Hopefully word of mouth helps it out. I don't want them to get scared away from using the lesser-known characters.

Originally I wouldn't have been seeing it until this weekend but plans we had made this weekend fell through (fiona plays camogie and her match was cancelled) so we skipped along Saturday.

I agree with Darkhawk slightly, in that the ending was weird. That whole scene with Luis saying random things was funny, but it just sort of ended.

Michael Pena wasn't even the funniest part of the movie, though. That's like saying the comedy in the first Iron Man was predicated on Terrance Howard. The true comedy, just like the heart of the film, came from Rudd and his outstanding performance (still the best single performance SINCE RDJ's turn in the first Iron Man)
Everything was built from a very heartfelt place with his effort to fix himself, and his motivation with his daughter.
Rudd and Adam McKay's comedy showed through in spades. We're talking about the comedy behind Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and The Campaign here. This movie falls in there with those types of comedies. So yeah, it's for sure not going to be for everyone, and that's cool. But it was certainly a GOOD movie, and a deserving entry in the MCU.
I'm far more hopeful to see Rudd/Lilly opposite Iron Man, Cap, Scarlet Witch and the like. Evangeline Lilly and Black Widow should have a fun back and forth at some point down the line.

I'm far more hopeful to see Rudd/Lilly opposite Iron Man, Cap, Scarlet Witch and the like. Evangeline Lilly and Black Widow should have a fun back and forth at some point down the line. This is essentially what I took from Ant-man, was that I think those two characters will be great additions to the Avengers team/world. I do think the film got caught between a comedy and action flick now that you point this out. Like, as a viewer, I was a bit confused as to what I was watching in that regard. Guardians of the Galaxy has an amazing dynamic of comedy and action, but at no point did I feel like I was watching a comedy flick. Ant-man wasn't a movie anyone was taking too seriously, I felt like the film makers understood that basic premise as well, but I felt like I was constantly stuck between feelings on what I was supposed to be taking seriously and what I was supposed to be laughing at. Even with that, if I break it into a vacuum, it wasn't a great comedy, and it wasn't a great action movie imo. So it did both passably well but nothing that blew me away in either department. I get that I'm, seemingly, one of the only people who didn't think this was great. At the same time, I'm not fully understanding what people love about it. I guess, primarily, it comes down to how much you enjoy the character and how well you think it fits into the MCU. For me, I like Paul Rudd, he's one of my favorite actors, but I've never been a particularly big fan of Ant-man. So that's probably just my problem where I feel like the actor is a great fit for the group films, and to be worked into other solo films, but I just don't care enough about the character to want to see him be the focal point of a franchise. Also, and I get that they went into pretty good depth on how he's able to transition from big to small, but the idea of two micro sized humans battling on a kids train set almost made it worse. Like I giggled at the Thomas the Train spot towards the end, but at the same time, I wasn't taking the fight seriously because of that comedy. I didn't think it was "bad". It's not one extreme or the other. It's just that for me, we've been getting great. Daredevil, Guardians, Avengers, Cap II, these were home run shots, grand slams. Ant-man was just a "meh" reaction for me. It's fair to say that I like RDJ in the Avengers movies better than his own franchise, at least 2 & 3 anyway. So it's not a big deal if Rudd is the same way for me, is all. I don't know what else to say about it... I wish I would have liked it more?
