That is a shame brother...Hope you can find a decent priced replacement.
Maybe a few of us should start WF : Mythbusters. Get to the bottom of this.

I have about one hundred loose gijoe figures I kept in a brown paper grocery bag in my moms attic for the last twenty years or so. I looked in the bag recently and the figures rubber bands are all broken so the figs are in pieces! Horrible sight All the sticker decals have come off all my gijoe vehicles and Star Wars toys too Stupid place to keep them all this time, and now a lot of really cool stuff is ruined

It's funny how I can remember most of my figs/toys from being a kid that broke and how much of a LOSS it was back then. No ebay to hunt down another etc... They were usually just gone (being in canada you were lucky to find a replacement after they initially hit store shelves until the time you accidentally broke it lol) Skeletor lost an arm, Hoth luke skywakler got chewed by a dog, many a gi joe snapped their rubber bands - "not Gung Ho!!! Noooooo!!!!", 2 super powers wonder women broke both arms when dropped on the carpet... Or how many transformers broke a leg off, breaking ray stantz's proton stream, rubber ljn Snuka losing a foot, etc etc...

You just take out the back screw, wrap it around the peg where the screw goes and then hook the little metal j-hook looking thing that the legs attach to. Age has ruined a lot of those rings... it even happens to carded figures as well, but it is the easiest thing in the world to remedy.
If you are looking to sell though, a lot of people do buy pieces on eBay. I saw a loose, broken Hardtop figure that had a broken O-ring still sell for well over $100. The figure was clean and had perfect paint, just that broken rubber ring.
