I saw this at the Waterloo IMAX this evening. I thought it was brilliant. I'm not a massive Nolan fan by any means (IMO the Batman trilogy was overrated and I liked Inception more for the cast) but this was a top film. It was a little hard to follow at times but I never felt lost. Matthew was fantastic. I also read the original script on the train home, and it was a completely different film. The original script was awful, this was brilliant. Spoilers for the final version in white below. Glad they went with the happy ending, I didn't expect it but I felt like they earned it. Matt Damon being in it was a surprise but his character was super interesting. He was evil on the face of it but his actions, whilst deplorable, were understandable and I really felt his desperation. Especially when he couldn't watch Matthew die. The ending with the fifth dimension was a tad confusing but it only took me a moment and I was there. My friends were wondering why Anne Hathaway was still her age if so much time had passed but I think she would have only been there like 2 hours before Matthew got there anyway. The water planet was 25 years, the ice one probably about the same as time wasn't as slow but they were there longer, so the moment Matthew got the morse code to Murph was probably happening whilst they were on the ice planet. Assuming the good planet Anne landed on had a fairly similar time frame she was probably only there 2 hours before Matthew got there, and probably only another hour or so before the rest of humanity joined them.
Edit: I was wrong. This explains it.

It looks like a good film. I'm probably not going to get around to the theater to see it

This will be unpopular BUT I seen it yesterday and thought it was an absolute snooze.......Nolan doesn't seem to know where to inject emotion into this movie....its very puzzling. He also wastes Jessica Chastain.
If it wasn't for Mathew Mac? This movie would be a total loss IMO.

Anybody that wastes the future wife and mother of my children should be kicked in the ear and given a stone cold stunner. But, its Nolan and I have a very personal love for Following and Memento.

My one buddy, who generally shares similar film and pop culture interests, actually called it a waste of money. I'll be passing until I can catch it on DVD or TV or whatever.

I was fully on board for the first two or so hours, and then things got a little muddy for the final 45-ish minutes. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the conclusion, I just felt that, because the first portion told such a wonderful and clear story, the climax and finale felt a little jumbled in comparison. Regardless, I'm a huge Nolan fan so I expected to love it going in, and for the most part, I did.

Its a shame so many of you haven't really enjoyed it. I loved it and its instantly become one of my favourite films. I might go see it again with a different group of friends actually.

Wasn't perfect, but I thought it was great. This movie suffered from what most Nolan movies suffer from: awesome concept which is plagued by poor execution due to a poor script.

People say this but what does that mean exactly? Nolan's writing skills aren't on par with his directing and falls flat when it comes to putting his ideas together. His ideas are really cool but unfortunately for every clever idea he comes up with, he sort of sets himself up for failure in that plot holes start popping up, dialogue gets cheesy/ unnecessary, and he has to settle for cop out explanations to tie those ideas together. He's remarkable in the brainstorming department and I love that he challenges the film industry with new concepts; but once the final product comes out, you are ultimately left with your eyes rolling at times. Interstellar was amazing for the first 3/4 but it eventually felt like Nolan didnt know how how to end the film and what we got left with was M Night Shyamalan-esque writing. TDKR and inception was the same way. I watched Inception again recently and couldn't believe how cheesy it was at some points.

I saw it this weekend. Visually it's amazing and I would definitely recommend people to go see it in IMAX just for that. I was pretty cool with the story until the end, which I thought was pretty cheesy all in all. But I like that it makes you think about the actual science that could be behind it and how the world actually could very well end up how it does in he movie in the near future. Nothing I'd go see again, but worth the while.
