Yes.
This and Chyna playing an adult film actress are both storylines leading to their eventual return to the ring.

Hahaha This is why I hesitated to share this idea. I knew I would catch hell for it. If you stand back, with an unbiased opinion, it kind of does make sence. Punk releases his interview right before Austin's live Network Podcast... If anything, I'm excited to see what is said on Austin's show. You have to follow up with this. In no way does it make sense. Not one.

It's a storyline in the same way that the Montreal Screwjob was a storyline.

Hey, that one actually has a chance of being a work, these two don't. I always thought Punk would come back, but after finding out they fired him on his wedding, I'm almost positive we'll never see him in WWE again. And yeah, I know about Warrior and Hart and whoever else, but if there was ever one guy who'd give them the finger and laugh it would be Punk.

I actually thought about this too - can you imagine how red-hot Punk would be if he came back now & fought Triple H at WrestleMania 31? The Colt Cabana podcast was the ultimate "Pipe Bomb"....
But, sadly, I'm pretty sure that the bad blood between the two sides is real.....
I still think he'll eventually come back, whether it's on 1 year or 10...... they ALL come back at some point.
There will be a substantial "cool down" period before that happens, though.

No. He's not coming back. Maybe not ever. Maybe not until Steph and Hunter are six feet under.

Or maybe Punk wanted to tell the story with his friend there to feel more comfortable. No way is he returning he does not have the desire to wrestle anymore.

I definitely see where the OP's coming from. I mean, he's kept the reasoning a secret for almost a full year and essentially dodged the questions since, giving off the impression that it's only the business of himself, Vince and Trips. It was even to the point where close friends like Paul Heyman, when asked the question, basically said who in the blue hell knows, only Punk knows the true reasoning.
And then all of a sudden he decides to share everything openly on a podcast? I could see sitting down with Colt in a private setting and airing it out, but for someone who kept everything so private for so long it's a tad confusing he decides to share it with the world.
Believe me, if he came back it would be mind-bogglingly satisfying. Something seems kinda up. But there can't be. For whatever reason, there can't be.

I wasn't on the forums back then, but did people people think Benoit was a work too? This is so clearly not a work, WWE is a publicly traded company and is t going to slander itself via a storyline. They have cheaper ways of writing good story lines, such as getting new writers.

I really don't understand why people keep saying that they think something is up since he shared his story on a podcast. How exactly does this prove anything? He said himself at the beginning of the podcast that money isn't everything to him and that really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. He's clearly a very private guy and he chose Colt Cabana because his podcast is insanely popular and I'm sure he knew that his friend serious get a bump from "landing" the big CM Punk interview. Seriously, when has the IWC talked about Colt Cabana this much? His reasons for waiting as long as he did and taking any his story the way that he did all seem pretty obvious. Some of you are looking very hard for something that clearly isn't there. This is not a work, you'd have to be insane or just not understand wrestling or business in general to think that. How does keeping him of TV show over a year just for one match make financial sense? Everyday CM Punk isn't on TV or making an appearance somewhere is another day that the WWE isn't making any money off him. Not to mention all the bad things he revealed about Vince, HHH and other higher-ups there.
The truth is very obvious: From Punk's point of view he was mishandled by creative, mishandled by their doctors and mishandled by Vince and HHH. He felt they took away his love for wrestling so he stopped wrestling. Stranger things have happened, I'm sure no one ever thought they'd see Bret Hart back in a WWE ring after Montreal and Owen dying, but I do know that it we won't be seeing him for a very long time, if ever again.

Wait, does Colt usually pay people to be on his podcast?

It's obviously not a storyline but if by some miracle WWE and Punk ever buried the hatchet and Punk would return they surely could make it look like one. Right now they seem to hate each other but if they come to terms they can use alot of material out of this whole mess.

Wait, does Colt usually pay people to be on his podcast? I think people in general pay their guest to be on their podcast otherwise there'd be no incentive for them to revealso much personal information. Time is money and although the Punk case is an exception to that rule, I can almost guarantee that his guest are payed for their time.

No. But if he and WWE ever comes to terms to work together again in the future, I am sure they will turn it into a story.
