Lol, Rhyno returned a month ago. Do you really think Mattel would be able to release a figure of a guy one month after he returned? Yea look how long its taken us to get Stardust, Rose, Rusev etc... half the guys they are releasing now, are almost dead in the water in terms of there push. (except for Rusev). Its toooooo long of wait.. its almost ashame really. By the time Ryhno even gets mentioned he will be no longer on the roster...lol.

I have to say that I hail from Parts Unknown but I make my summer residence at the Diamond Mines but I do frequently visit the State of Euphoria. My 3 favorite places to hail from.

Mattel will have the contract for at least another FOUR YEARS. Just think of all the Flashback, Hall Of Fame, Defining Moments, Wrestlemania Flashbacks, and RSC exclusive figures we'll get in that time... Relax.

If you replaced DDP with Warrior, Rock, or Undertaker I would get your case and would side with you.
However, I'm excited about them making another DDP. I have the Matty exclusive and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

One poster claims he knows for a fact that the DDP "iconic look" included wearing jeans vs Macho Man during his 1997 feud. During that specific year, they had singles matches ADVERTISED as such at three pay-per-view events. Spring Stampede, where DDP won, he wore TIGHTS. Great American Bash, Macho won, and again DDP wore TIGHTS. Then, on a Monday Nitro in July, DDP again did NOT wear JEANS...as a matter of fact, he also didn't wear his own tights...he was dressed and advertised as being LA PARKA vs Macho Man. At the Clash & Fall Brawl where DDP teamed with Luger to take on Savage and Hall, both times DDP wore TIGHTS. FINALLY, at Halloween Havoc, DDP busted out those jeans w/rib wrap vs Macho Man. So, of all those sanctioned matches during their famous '97 feud of the year, DDP primarily wore tights, and in fact wore JEANS all of ONE single time. There was one more time he did wear the jeans vs Macho on television...a nitro in a random match during 1998 when Macho was in the Wolfpac, in a main event cage match featuring Piper as the referee. This wasn't even a re-hash of their 1997 feud, simply a one-off match where Savage deemed DDP not worthy of the other members' desire to have him become part of their group, which DDP also seemed to elude the possibility as well. Sorry, but versus Savage being his allegedly "iconic jeans and rib wrap" during their feud is simply false, whether remembered incorrectly or what have ya, the real fact is he simply did not often wear the jeans. Plenty of wrestlers have appeared on television, even some quite often and repeatedly so, in 'street clothes'. If wrestlers wear actual wrestling gear one out of every ten times, and nine other times they are lazy and wear bland ass denim pants and tank tops, etc. I'm sorry but give me a figure with actual wrestling attire every time rather than boring jeans. I don't wear wrestling gear when I am going about my day to day business, in life. There are no WRESTLING figures made of myself, but if there were, I'd be sure to at least put on actual gear to represent the occasion to be captured in that look and eventually converted into a figure portraying that moment or milestone in my life. Every wrestler wears street clothes to the arena, so let's just make all wrestlers in regular clothes and see how well those sell. Some guys it makes sense for, due to spectacular events, or when they appeared to famously make their mark (i.e. Outsiders would be sensibly released in jeans, but it would be a tragedy if they don't ALSO get their actual gear...notice Hall was released FIRST & FOREMOST as Razor Ramon...perhaps he'll be in t-shirt & jeans in the battlepack since it's coming with shades and a spray can, and lotsa times they were on televised segments appearing under contract not to wrestle but just for interview time, half the time standing in the background during a Hollywood Hogan spiel just looking "cool" or whatever). Now, with Diamond Dallas Page, the dude had PLENTY of wrestling attire for in-ring bouts that looked great. WHY in the world would I prefer the stints of time he sold being an injured street-fighting wrestler, apparently too beat up to worry about lacing up the boots and dressing up in gear, going out and going at it with his enemies in street clothes so to speak, when the dude is equally if not more remembered for his flashy tights / merchandise shirts? I'd buy several of him in actual gear, and MAYBE just one to have in my collection until a BETTER one was produced rather than Mattel being lazy and commending the laziness of DDP to wear anything more than jeans in the ring. Another fine example is that I'd take twenty brown Mankinds over any version of the sloppy, slob-looking, mentally challenged, lazy 'character' (aka real person playing a wrestler yet refusing to dress the part) of Mick Foley, who legitimately was just such a cheap bum and preferred to be "comfortable" in the ring, rather than looking good. Many collectors actually prefer to display fancy looking (and even "iconic" attires, at that) figures rather than a bunch of random dudes in jeans, who just happened to be wrestlers. Otherwise, I'd just put a bunch of custom figures of family and friends on my shelf, as 3-D creations of photos / pictures . . . all of them in their everyday clothing to go shopping, hang about their homes, and / or going about any daily business involved in their lives, in general. Now, if I were to celebrate what they do for a living, admiring them and our friendship / brotherhood, I'd want them depicted in their work threads (i.e. uniforms that they are forced to wear at their jobs or something like that, even if they don't choose to put that on for comfort / living their lives at their own leisure). For instance, here's my uncle, a person I'm a fan of, as I'm an admirer of his work...his figure attire is that of a Verizon employee. I do not need a figure of my uncle in his sleeveless summer shirt and jean shorts with beer can / lawn mower home chores accessories, I can capture that on a camera or just, ya know, VISIT him any time he is not at work. Sorry, but one of Kane's iconic backstage looks when arriving to the building was looking like a Joe Schmoe in random street attire with a towel over his face (since he was Kayfabe burnt and playing a masked character). I think I'll take him in his red & black wrestling gear, as I'd be totally uninterested in Kane the person versus Kane the cartoon character. Oh my gosh, was that Shawn Michaels I saw at Wrestlemania IX talking to The Narcissist and being attacked by Mr. Perfect? Ah, yes, 'twas...and he was in jeans and cowboy boots with no shirt. For the LOVE OF GOD, somebody make me that figure...forget the tights he wore against Tatanka that afternoon or any of his hundreds of classic attires worn in the ring. Gee Golly, give me the ICONIC Commissioner look of Shawn Michaels but please don't EVER give me SummerSlam '95 HBK. After all, a figure of a high profile athlete / superstar, but in regular clothes that any random person wears in their everyday life is well worth my $20-$25, since it was such an ICONIC LOOK...nevermind that it looks dull or bland...let's celebrate a mega star's legacy by painting them up to look like an average person, blending in with the crowd. No thanks! Point is, DDP's jeans were worn a lot, but his tights were cooler looking and portray him as what he was, a WRESTLER...not a lazy guy who showed up not having to carry luggage and could just wrestle in whatever he probably could have worn to the mall in whatever town he was venturing about while there for a short time before traveling on to the next city. I want DDP in his work uniform, meaning wrestling attire which he wore for a MAJORITY (count up the years and amount of times he wore tights in the ring vs. the consecutive times for a year or so of wearing jeans, while being kinda lazy in the process yet justifying it as a "role" during the whole gimmick / storyline) NOT some jeans he got at a thrift store and decided to wear in the ring for a little while. Excellent post though dude, some great points.

Speak for yourself....some of us didn't get the Exclusive DDP. I'm actually guessing MOST of us didn't, since that Matty line was cancelled rather quickly.
I really want a mass retail release of DDP.

Dude, you're right in that it didnt get a retail release but if you use that argument, heck Mattel should just release every figure in the future again to please new collectors. If you werent around in the beginning for those figures then...thats tough luck! Alright it wasnt in stores but heck it was on matty collector a lot longer than any store would have had it hanging lol.

since we got a WCW DDP I'm hoping for a WWE DDP, his attire was awesome. Plus the short hair will be a different enough look.
either way, it's not a matter of getting new characters...to make a figure of a wrestler you need to have a contract with said wrestler for merchandising rights. there is A LOT of stuff behind the scenes that collectors on a forum have zero idea about. Mattel is making another Elite DDP because
A) he's a popular wrestler among casual & hardcore fans B) he had 2 unique looks and character styles in his career C) he must be under a contract so they are able to make one
I'm perfectly fine getting another DDP. As long as it isn't an exact repaint of his Legends figure.
