The Era where I became a proper fan. All of that thanks to SmackDown! and Eddie Guerrero. It used to be 10 AM on a Saturday morning on Sky One. SmackDown! would start then, and followed by Bottom Line with Todd Grisham. Ah, those were the days!

I was definitely a Smackdown guy in 2002 and 2003. Once Benoit and Edge went to Raw in 2004, I found the Raw show to be better.
But just thinking back to that era, I remember that if Raw was having a PPV this Sunday, the Smackdown before it would have a PPV like show for free on their TV show. Same if Smackdown was having a PPV this Sunday, Raw would have a huge PPV like show on Monday before it.
Everyone looks back fondly at the Attitude Era, but I don't think the Ruthless Aggression Era gets the credit that it rightfully deserves either. It had a lot of great in ring action, and amazing story lines. And the matches weren't 2 minutes each with fake finishes and hokey stuff happening.
Though I wonder if a DVD set on the Ruthless Aggression Era will ever come out. It is pretty Benoit heavy for most of it.

Late 2002-Early 2005 is one of the best time periods in WWE.

Did anyone else love the team of Rico and Charlie Haas? Rico was a damn good wrestler, and his gimmick was entertaining as Hell.

Dude, this is my favourite time of wrestling as far as my childhood goes...I started watching wrestling in 2003, around No Mercy when Vince was fighting Stephanie...then Survivor Series when kane buried undertaker...it was so awesome...of course I remember seeing clips of wwe/wwf before that as an even younger kid but this is the first time I have fully cognitive memory of wrestling. Smackdown was better than Raw in this time period for sure, Brock was a beast although Evolution's violence & Kane's rampage after unmasking were kinda scary (I think I was actually afraid of the raw wrestlers for some time before I grew to like them.)

It was more extreme than the Attitude era.

Smackdown from 2002/2005 was pure tv gold. JBL, Eddie, Undertaker, John Cena. Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan, Rey Mysterio etc seriously it was one of the best eras in WWE and it made Raw look like pure crap at the time. Though from 2006 it started to play second best to Raw which is one of the main reasons why I hated the brand split.

Favourite time of watching, I remember 6 year old me thinking Kurt died when Big Show chokeslammed him off the most unsafe balcony ever.
And Lesnar throwing Zach Gowen or whatever down a flight of stairs.

Summer 2002-2004 was a golden time for SD!
I disliked GM Steph and the stories about wrestlers fawning on her, she's an Excellent heel but very unsuitable for a face role. Also Zach Gowan gnawed on my nerves something ferocious BUT...... man oh man those are small complaints compared to some of the UNREAL matchups this show gave us under Heymans excellent creative reign.

I concur with allot folks positive assessments of Smackdown from that time period. I thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
It looks like several of you have already covered the major stuff but I will go a little lower and throw out an honorable mention to Kenzo Suzuki. I am Puroresu guy and I was happy to watch him in the American setting.
Also, thanks to the OP for posting the video clips. I was there the night Eddie dove off of the cage on JBL in Providence, RI. Little did I know that it would be the last time I saw him wrestle live - miss that guy.

Ruthless Aggression era was awesome.
As for Smackdown in general, I loved 2002-2003 with Brock as the top guy and the also the matches between the Smackdown! Six (Angle/Benoit/Edge/Mysterio/Eddie/Chavo).

This was when i came back to wrestling. I kinda stopped watching following the invasion angle. I followed a little bit of Brock Lesnar's rise but after Summer Slam 2002 I was out. Then I just caught the end of an episode of Smack Down where Undertaker said he wanted Vince in a buried alive match. The potential of the deadman returning interested me. When I heard that the Undertakers gong went off at the rumble I was back. It seemed new again and I loved Smack down in 2004. Also this probably lead to WM XX being one of my all time favs.
