Just got back from a target run and scored my first (and likely only) Create a Superstar figure. I tested out the Hulk Hogan for the obvious Mr. America likeness to add to my collection. Over all I like the feel of the figure a lot. The pieces seem to hold in tight and don't have much of a risk of falling off which was a concern. Except for the boots. The boots on my fig fall off so easily that it is annoying. Literally move the leg and his foot falls off. What surprised me about the figure was how much I like the different articulation. It isn't quite elite, but it solves some of the problems I have with basic figures. With basics I just hate how the "cod piece" (crotch area) looks. Comparing elite ric flair with the recent basic ric flair for example makes the basic look like he's wearing Depends. Also the torsos often seem to just be odd. I can't explain it. Well Mr. America, i mean hulk hogan, doesn't have these issues. He has more of an elite style cod piece without basic knee joints. This still enables the figure to nicely do moves that require ball hip joints such as pile drivers, power bombs etc. Another thing I have fallen in love with is the arms. Now they don't have the normal ball shoulder joint which is a slight mark against it but it has enough articulation. It is similar to the Jakks TTL shoulder joints. But the elbow is where the money is at. It is a swivle ball joint elbow. And it is amazing. I have seen these elsewhere such as in Mattel's ghostbusters line and I think it ads a cool new dimension of flexibility that I have not yet seen in a wrestling figure. I would love it if they utilized that kind of elbow joint on elite figures. Also the wrists are like TTL wrists and don't have a bending hinge. This is only mildly noticeable and for me It would be something I could live without in a basic figure. And of course it is a basic non articulated torso which is fine by me. Looks good and the hinged torso really only has limited use in play. I could live without that.
I guess what this has made me think is that I wish elite figs adopted the new elbow joint and that basic figures adopted the crotch/leg style. And all would be right with the world.
If anyone has ideas for keeping the boots on and still playable let me know. I'm going to try a bit o hot glue.

Thanks for sharing! I was going to buy some but I was worried about how well the pieces would hold on. Thanks for sharing the info on the boots.

I'm still on the fence about getting one. I haven't seen them yet, not sure if I'll get one when I do.

Personally I do not like them but they are a great idea. With my views on the demand for them I think there will be more in the future.

They are kind of neat but at 20 bucks a pop I have to pass on these.

The generic guys may be 20 but hogan was only 12.99. I think the others are more expensive due to all the additional accessories.

I'm not a huge fan of these. I really only want bray so I can get that mask. I think these are targeted towards kids and don't see the line lasting long.

I like the figures a lot I got the whole basic series still waiting on the expansions. I do not have any of those leg issues you mentioned. The figures stay together well. I am not fond of the rubbery boots but I can see why they went that route. As with anything I am sure Mattel will make improvements. I love the idea and I hope they keep doing more.

I bought the 20 dollar sets and I really like these things. Sure, they aren't perfect and admittedly, they are more goofy than something I could see most collectors buying. I mean, why buy what feels like a knock off Bray when you can buy the real thing? And I wonder how long the pieces on these things last before something breaks by taking pieces off from time to time. I spoke on these in another topic, but I just think that the overall nature of them is cool. They're a cool concept, I think you could use them for many things, and I'd love to see more.
Maybe if it continues, give us a ref/commentator set or give us some more diverse pieces like a bulkier torso or a diva set. Heck, this could be a way to give us figures that wouldn't sell in a normal line, like a ref or maybe J and J Security, so who knows. But yeah, basically, I like them a lot, I hope to pick up the stand alone figures soon, and I hope the line continues.

Nice man. Hogan/Mr America is the only one I'm interested in. This line has serious potential though.

I'm not planning to buy any of them because elites and basics already burn a hole in my pocket, but I think its a cool concept. I would hope it continues because it is fun to look at.

It's a nice idea but I won't be getting any. They'd do better out of selling decals for new designs for customers to make on their own but these will sell well to people wanting to make their own wrestlers
