In other words, what I said in the other thread came true. WWE had no plans for him after losing to Cena and don't have any idea what to do with him now. He was booked too strong to be a midcarder and not good enough to be a main eventer. Therefore, he's in limbo with nothing to do. See also: Wyatt, Bray Rusev He's too damn good for that treatment. But so are the guys you listed. It makes me angry.

I knew this was happening soon as Owens beat Cena shouldn't be no shock.

I just like to imagine Vince and Dunn in the war room worrying that Cena is losing momentum.
"DAMMIT, he's GOTTA retain the title tonight! He lost, Hunter, LOST, to this guy two months ago. That was his first televised loss in THREE MONTHS. THREE! The fans aren't gonna see him as credible when he challenges for the WWE Title again if he loses!"

I'm starting to think the line after we're gonna need security : " and half the roster... " was directly used because of Owens. They want us to think of him as just another guy on the roster now. And I don't understand it at all. He was white hot

Yea don't buy it. If Rollins is considered a top guy, Owens will be too.

Makes sense. Let him win a few mid card feuds before he gets the main event push. common sense hes had his big introduction, people know who he is, same as bray wyatt, they're still some of THE most credible people in wwe today. just my opinon

Maybe Cena will beat Rollins and start an open challenge for the WWE title and Owens will win that. It would be so much bigger for Owens to beat Cena for the World title instead of a mid-card title. Maybe WWE saw how big this got and just wants to go all out and bigger with it.

Maybe WWE saw how big this got and just wants to go all out and bigger with it. Maybe in five years after Owens is the obligatory Fat Chick Thriller and Stutterer. But not after Summerslam. If Cena walks out with the title, there is no way he's going to lose that quickly just be a transitional champion.

I mean, after feuding with the #1 guy the only place to go is down, right?
I agree he should've won the feud, but he was always going to feud with someone worse after Cena whether he won or lost.

At least he got a win on Cena, a very clean one. Not many have done that, the WWE can say (in kayfabe) how it was a fluke all they want, it was a clean win plus if they really go that route and make Cena say or Cole say "Well Cena wasn't serious at that bout because the title was not on the line" it contradicts everything that is Cena's character. Hopefully Owens can recover from this.

It did nothing for Owens really. Hes fallen the same fate of guys like Rusev, Barrett, Sandow, etc...
Damn shame really

Let's just call it like it is. Cena buried Owens. Owens is buried. He's done.

I've had some time to reflect on a few things. I think we all (including the Dirtsheets) missed something completely.
We assumed that because he was involved in a feud with the--like it or not--face of WWE, John Cena, this was a main event role. Wrong. It was a main ROSTER role. His new contract saw him brought up with the main ROSTER as new heel. He was never brought up with the express intentions to be thrusted into the MAIN EVENT TALENT pool. We wished it. We wanted it. We even thought of ways for him to be the new FACE of the Authority. But, that was our projections.
Further, the dirt sheets report that he's not no the main event level as Seth Rollins, John Cena, and Randy Orton. As far as I can tell, Randy Orton is in the middle of a MID-CARD FEUD.
So, I think the Dirt Sheets and us, me included, are thinking Owens was a MAIN EVENT star solely because he worked a program with John Cena. That was not the case. Cena thankfully took less of a role throughout his entire tenure as US Champion and US Champion Challenger, and fought in the mid-card. During which, he fought against Neville, Zayn, Ryder, and Cesaro. They were putting on some big matches, but he wasn't closing the show and it was not the focal point that a Lesnar vs. Rollins feud was. It was more along the lines of a Wyatt Reigns feud.
So, is he demoted? Only in the sense that he's not working with a name like Cena. Did he actually get removed from the main roster? No. Are they still using him? Yes. Are they involving him with other upper-mid card names? Yes. His position is the same as it was, just without a huge star. And honestly, the only huge stars the WWE has active at the moment are Cena, Lesnar, and Undertaker. Is this because of WWE's decision to be WCW for a while and not build stars? Yes. BUT, Owens is still working with Cesaro, and Rusev with Dolph.
And honestly, the last guy who beat Cena for a mid-card singles title (US Title no less) is no longer wrestling in WWE, and if that happened to Owens, that's not cool.
I retract my statements about him being buried and fluke wins yadda yadda. I too was under the impression that because he worked with Cena, this was a main event spot. It was never a main event spot. It was just to get a rub, and they trusted Cena to make sure all of Owens' initial matches would be 5* matches, which they were. Imagine, if Owens came in, and worked a segment with Big Show? BORING.

Kevin Owens isn't out of the main event, he was never in it. He may have been feuding with Cena, but Cena is the one who has been demoted from the main event and now it looks like he is returning to face Rollins. I can see Owens winning the US title on RAW and facing Cesaro and possibly Rusev at Summerslam, although I would guess Ziggler will be back by then.

I hate Vince, but I honestly can't stand Kevin Dunn. And if the "Cena buried Owens" shtick is true, I doubt Owens won't stay out of the spotlight for much longer.

One thing Owens has going for him is that HHH has his back. HHH is going to make sure he stays relevant since he's seen as a "Hunter guy"

His best bet is to go back to NXT and finish his thing with Balor and then return to RAW after thats finished. Better to stay out of the mid card obscurity than have matches for the sake of having matches.
He will be fine, and yeah as the above post says, at least he's got triple H backing him if not anyone else at the top.
