I was able to meet Rey Mysterio last night. He was at the Destiny indy wrestling event, which was held at Santino's gym.
I prepaid for a VIP ticket, which included a meet and greet with Rey before the show. I decided to go to VIP route because I read online that he "might not" sign for general admission ticket holders. I decided to play it safe, and get a VIP ticket, so I would be guaranteed to meet him. (Turns out, he did end up signing for the general admission ticket holders.)
Just like the typical indy event, things ran late. They were actually running late by an hour. When they finally let the VIP ticket holders in, they had us stand in a line and they brought Rey out. The format of this signed was that he would take a photo with you in front of a nice backdrop, and then he would sign an autograph for you. Rey was a little quiet at times, but was really friendly, especially towards the children. He shook hands with everyone and thanked everyone. When it was my turn, I had him sign my E32 figure with a red paint marker. I knew Rey was short, but I was expecting him to be slightly taller lol. I look like a giant in the picture with him. After the picture and autograph, he shook my hand and he thanked me for coming.
The event itself was great, with the main event being Justin Gabriel vs. Ricochet vs. Rey Mysterio for the Destiny championship. Rey ended up winning, so hopefully that means he'll be back to defend the championship. They'll be having Mr. Kennedy/Anderson at their next show in December
And then today was the Hamilton Comic Con, where they had a "Legends of Wrestling Reunion", which featured Rocky Johnson, Tatanka, The Dream Team, Powers of Pain, The Nasty Boys, and Ric Flair. I've already gotten autographs and photos from Rocky Johnson, Tatanka and The Dream Team from when I met them in the past, so I didn't meet them today. I've never met Powers of Pain, nor Ric Flair, so I made sure to meet them. I also haven't gotten a photo-op with The Nasty Boys before (I got their autographs a few years ago), so I made sure to get a photo with them too.
When I first got to the venue at around 11:15, I looked for Flair's line. Flair didn't start signing yet, and the section for his line was already filled up, so they told me (and others) to stand in a different section and they'd call us over. At 11:30. Flair finally came and started signing. At times, his line moved slow, and at other times it moved fast. I was able to get in line and it took me about an hour to get to the front. Flair was charging $60 each for an autograph or photo, with a combo deal being $100. I purchased a combo, plus an extra autograph. Flair was quiet, but willing to chat if you wanted to. I had him sign my Defining Moments figure, and an NWA Poster (already signed by Road Warrior Animal), both in a light blue paint marker. After he signed them, I was able to go behind the table and sit beside Flair for the picture. After the picture, I thanked him and shook his hand.
Next, I went to meet Powers of Pain. They were charging $50 for a combo (this includes autographs from both, as well as a picture). When I handed over the encyclopedia to them, Warlord commented "oh nice! You have the book too!". I mentioned "yeah, you guys will be autographs 82 and 83 in this book!". Barbarian first signed it, and then Warlord did. Both were very nice and thanked me for coming. One of them even put their hands around my neck for the picture. I no sold the choke and smiled a bit lol
Like I previously mentioned, I already have the Nasty Boys' autographs, so I only got a photo-op with them, which I won't post here.
As for my recent pickups, I was able to pick these two up at two separate Thrift Stores:
Both are still sealed. Paid $4 for the board game, and $5 for the Hardcore Ring
I was also surprised to find these at Wal-Mart
They weren't scanning in the system, so the cashier gave them to me for $10 each. This was great because they're normally $15.92 here.
Thats it for today. Thanks for looking!
