I prefer older wrestlers. They're more experienced than young ones and are more entertaining.
Also look at Goldust. He's in his late 40's and IMO the best he's ever been.

I feel like by 50, if they're not around solely as a 'talent enhancer' or an out-of-ring role, most wrestlers should step aside & give the shine to the younger stars.
I look at the tail end of the attitude era, the methods that killed WCW, the integration of 'legends' like Hulk, Flair & Undertaker into modern storylines and a whole lot of it just hasn't felt...right...or natural...organic.
It's like, yeah, they have that nostalgia factor and they always will as a special attraction. But when they come back consistently and take the spotlight from the next generation that should be given time to build as the foundation for the next decade or so, it undercuts their development.
The WWF didn't take off during the Attitude Era until a ton of older guys defected to WCW. The NWO blew up into literally hundreds of washed up talents from the 80's & cast offs from another age.
WWF had their hand FORCED, I think we forget that, FORCED by Bret leaving, Shawn being hurt & Hulk, Diesel, Savage, Flair, Hall, etc. all leaving. It was for the best.
Austin rose in their place, Rock gained confidence, Foley had a platform, HHH capitalized on opportunities, Undertaker was given a second life.
Now, we just have Taker & Kane (& Big Show) lingering. Mark Henry. Sting. HHH. If these guys aren't putting over YOUNGER talent, what's the point? If they're not bridging generational gaps, they're stunting the growth of the brand's future.
You need the old guard to step out of the way, and if they won't step, then write the young guns to come in and take it from them. Jericho comes around & does his yearly job at WM or another big event...but for every Y2J (who is tired & played by now) there is a Rock, who comes in and either overshadows all things the current product is offering (because of his nostalgia factor, not because he's actually better-- I think New Day outdueled him on the mic in their interaction) or constantly squashes young talent (Miz, Punk).
What we need is another toppling of the guard. A complete reshuffling of the pieces. Yeah, this year we were forced into Corporate champ HHH because of injuries (or not, the storyline was headed here already) but if we didn't invest so poorly in booking the next wave up then we'd have ready-made stars to step in.
& we do. Ambrose. Ambrose. Ambrose.
Scrap these WM plans for Roman and roll with Dean, like you did the last time you had a true, genuine Wrestlemania moment- when your hand was once again FORCED by the fans to let Daniel Bryan grab that brass ring.
They didn't want Randy again...or Batista...they don't want Roman. So give them what they want. A real future.
