Seeing rare figures like this in random lots is crazy, but must be awesome for the buyer. The other day I saw a Rowdy Piper Eraser Figure tossed in an auction of random bendies and thumb wrestlers. Same type of scenario where the auction title didn't help at all. Great find. Got a link to that one? I'd be interested to see how that popped up. Sure thing. Similar scenario -- the seller didn't have the greatest auction title. I bid this auction up, but didn't win. I'm not sure if the Piper eraser is worth $100 plus loose; either way, I wasn't in love with it enough to keep bidding. www.EBAY LINK NOT ALLOWED/itm/Lot-of-24-Vintage-1985-WWF-Action-Figures-Rubber-Thumbwrestlers-/191803037979?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEDWX%3AIT&nma=true&si=1xeNkbbVi3wqRmgHWLAdjVaP0Rg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Let me add my 'Wow!' You hope these kinds of things are still floating around out there, but you never expect to actually see them! Amazing. I messaged the seller in hopes of finding out some more info about their origins, but didn't get a lot of info in return. If anyone else finds out more about how/where these surfaced I'd love to hear the story!

Based on the other auctions, I'd guess they have no clue and are just playing it off.

I have a loose & MOC Piper but I'd pay $100 for another mint loose one. edit: I looked at that seller's old auctions and found something peculiar. What the hell is up with this Tito? Doesn't quite look like the release or prototype. His right arm is different though, unless severely malformed. 191803848507

Awww man...what sucks is that I bought a 16" Hogan LJN from this seller in December, he obviously had these figures then...if I only knew. I usually ask sellers if they have any other wrestling merchandise if I get a good deal. Well, that sucks.

I'm thinking some type of heat damage maybe? It looks shrunken on one whole side.

That's what I was thinking, or perhaps it was stored piled w/other figures and something was on his arm, holding it backward for years and now it's stuck that way.

I'm going to take a safe guess and say the seller received a TON of messages after the auction ended.

So this begs the question...which other ones could be out there:
Judging on the prototype advertisements, I can think of:
- Steamboat, Beefcake, and Kirchner (repainted Orndorffs, really) - JYD w/shorts - Ventura w/different bandana (side note: I also saw one recently that had "THE BODY" written on his pants, sold loose on ebay. Never saw that before or heard anyone mention it as a variant. - Steele w/hairy chest - Heenan slightly different - Capt. Lou w/graphic on shirt unlike the one shown here - Bruno
and unless the picture floating around was a custom job, the Bulldogs. I think those were customs thought, right? They looked pretty damn good if so!

I'm really surprised everyone missed the "hand sample" LJN auction that the seller had no bids on just 15 minutes before this. #191804296086 Seller clearly didn't know a whole lot about what was being sold. You can see "hand sample" written on the box in one of the auction images, so I guess they were just following that. Notice the different hair with the two Albanos. I'm sure others will notice a few other differences - Jimmy Hart's jacket etc. fUjI.

Those Bulldogs you speak of were actually pictured in an LJN Toy Fair catalog, I've got the full page scans somewhere on an older hard drive, I'll try to post them later tonight. Another group of prototypes -- and these would probably qualify as my "Holy Grail" if they ever surface -- are the motorcycles and cars based on the Rock n Wrestling cartoon.

I was thinking about those myself just yesterday when this came up! I'm really surprised everyone missed the "hand sample" LJN auction that the seller had no bids on just 15 minutes before this. #191804296086 Seller clearly didn't know a whole lot about what was being sold. I see Sheik's pants are different as well, and he claims Sheik is hard plastic instead of rubber. The Heenan has longer scrolls which look like the "proto" we saw from a Canadian LJN ad. One of the Captain Lous seems to match this too, but Jimmy Hart does not. Volkoff appears to have a yellow collar of some sort on top of his shirt, but I find no matching advertisements to go with it... Hmmm...

Well, looks like the seller has gone the other way with it now, because they ended that listing and have put up the figures from that box individually at $100 a pop.
