Speaking of Edge, he got some really awesome pops back in 2002, specifically at WM X8 in Toronto.

Because Punk is very much an embodiment of the city, in both attitude and perseverance. He's the everyday working man that likes to run his mouth. He's a legit Chicagoan. Legit proud of his city, and a legit Chicago sports fan. He's Portillos, Navy Pier, and Wrigley Field, all rolled into a pro wrestler. Those 4 stars he wears on his trunks mean something to him, and the fans know it. To pro wrestling fans in Illinois, there is no difference between the Bears/Cubs/Hawks/Bulls and CM Punk. CM Punk winning at MITB 2011 was another World Title for the city of Chicago. Ever met a Chicagoan that doesn't still talk about Sweetness, Jordan or Sandberg? CM Punk has become an integral part of the cities sports lore. He's always been the kind of guy hometown fans can rally around. It's honestly not something I'd expect other people to get. This guy, right here, speaking the mother ing truth.

It's more because Chicago is such a hot, vocal and smart crowd compared to many others, and at that time everybody was into the Punk ordeal.

he referenced philly often and was heavily interested in their sports, and on top of that is very charismatic so the crowd knew that he'd respond to their levels of energy. that's my guess. Except his home town is Chicago..

Because like previously mentioned, he wore Chicago on his sleeve and on top of that, MITB 2011 was a magical moment that those fans will never forget. So every time after, they made sure to get hype as hell for Punk as he's their guy, and it brings them back to MITB 2011.

But, she's from Norwich... Well, yeah, but it's still her home country. This is like when Cole described Wade and Neville as being from "just a short drive away" when they're both from the opposite end of the country to London and opposite sides of the country from each other. Norwich is over two hours away from London in the car, it's not her home town, she doesn't even have the accent! By that logic, every time an American wrestler comes out on a show taking place in America, they're the hometown boy.

But, in England, the major cities at the heart of the different counties have completely different cultures. I'm from Manchester and would hate to be considered "from near London", because it's a totally different way of life. Norwich and London are nothing alike, and to consider London to be the equivalent of Paige's hometown is really silly. It would be like confusing me for someone from Leeds or Huddersfield, and I've never spent more than a few hours in either place. It only takes three hours to get to Ireland from England in a boat, so would you consider Wade Barrett a hometown boy in Dublin?
