There's a huge disconnect between the Commissioners/GMs and their respective shows. Stephanie has very much presented herself as the person supporting the old guard and holding back the newer talent, while Shane McMahon's entire basis for returning to television was to usher in a new crop of talent and and firmly establish the new era for the company.
What we got in the first week was the exact opposite. Raw was the show that showcased all the new talent prominently and effectively, while Smackdown felt like it was hanging onto some old relics. It doesn't help, of course, that all the positive changes Shane promised for Smackdown also got carried over to Raw, and Raw had the benefit of airing first, making it appear as though they're the originator of change and Smackdown is just - as it's always been - the little brother who can't keep up.

I know this is completely random, but I like Randy Orton so much better when he wears no wrist tape at all. I wish he would go back to that. Some wrestlers look good with no tape others do not. Orton looks very strange with no wrist tape. it's like kane when he didn't wear his upper body gear that one time. Weird af.

RAW was miles better than Smackdown this week. It's not even close.
Only things I liked tonight were:
- The Return of Blue Ropes - Shelton Benjamin Return Vignette - Heath Slater/Rhyno segment
And that's it. RAW was pretty much great from top to bottom. This was just boring and Ziggler is a very odd choice for the title match at Summerslam after having ZERO momentum and being a jobber since November or December 2014. Also the camera work was pretty horrid (unlike RAW's this week).

The show is a lot more enjoyable when you stop thinking about the past and the repetive TV we've had to deal with. "Ziggler's a weird choice he's a jobber". A jobber whose been busting his ass for years putting over the stars. These past 2 shows are a great example of what used to be great about wrestling. There's always going to be the WWE guys, the super heroes. Roman, Orton, Cena, Brock. But every so often one of your long time favorties breaks through and its that much more enjoyable when they win. Im a Reigns fan, and enjoyed it when he won the belt. I thought cool, im a fan. I knew WWE had been grooming him.
But if Balor or Ziggler win, i might shed a tear. Thats the benefit of watching guys bust their ass win something. Like when Bryan, Y2J, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerreo, Benoit, and Christian all won their first world titles. Watch the finishes and pops of those matches compared to to the first time Batista, Cena, Orton, and Reigns all won their first belts and see the difference. See how much more emotion and electricity is there. And thats why i love pro wrestling.

Absolutely hated SmackDown, I had such high hopes. I am not a fan of Ziggler at all and Ambrose Vs Ziggler at SummerSlam just sounds dumb to me. I'd rather it have been Styles, Crews, or Cena Vs Ambrose.

I thought it was it was good. I liked that it opened with a battle royal (my favorite type of match). After that it started to slow down. The Slater/Rhyno segment was my favorite. Super excited he is back and the return of Shelton Benjamin YES! Hopefully next week they announce that they are going to have tag team titles. Maybe have a tournament with the final match at Summerslam. All in all it was a good show.
I give tonights Smackdown live a B+

I said it once, I'll say it again. SmackDown NEEDS to make a trade for either Zayn/Cesaro/Owens. Get rid of kalisto.. Dude was ing WORTHLESS in the battle royal match. Everyone knew he wasn't gonna win. He is like the only cruiseweight on the roster so who is he gonna feud with? It is pointless. If SD gets any of the three guys I mentioned they will have a chance. Their roster is so limited so there is only so much they can do. Let's be honest the only contenders on that show are Cena,Orton,Styles,Wyatt, and I guess Ziggler now out of the blue. They need more main event stars, OR make the IC title a big deal again. They could have AJ win it which I wouldn't mind, and if they indeed do make a trade we could be having AJ/Cesaro or AJ/Owens for the IC belt while having Ambrose/Ziggler(If rehabilitated properly) for the WWE title. Also, They MUST introduce and new tag team belt, and women's belt so they have something to fight for. Just my thoughts, even though it will probably never happen.

Not a bad show, but it did not beat RAW, as has been said.
JBL needs to go, I was astounded last night at how good Cole was with Graves. I see now that it was JBL ruining the announcing. If they want to be different than RAW go back to the two man announce team with Mauro and Otunga (at least until you find someone to replace Otunga)!
Slater was gold, that dude is just untapped potential. They should have him go over Rhyno in a feud and then but him in the Miz's spot.
Orton was boring and it was the same old same old having the IC champ get beat again.
I didn't realize natalia was that athletic.
The women debuts were pointless, again that was same old same old stuff. It started off good with Alexa then went to crap...they didn't even let Carmela get to her participation tag line ..hot chick in the ring ...... Because Eva interrupted, I will say I like Eva , ever since she did her run in NXT. I thought that she had a good run going there. Her entrance got nuclear heat and I laughed out loud at the announcer talking..that was awesome.
I agree the Smackdown roster is lacking.
The camera angles were yuck, at times I felt like I was watching TNA.
Not a fan of their stage either, I can't put my finger on it ..but just didn't care for it.
Lastly RAW got a kick butt theme song, Smackdown not so much...and that kinda set my mind for the rest of the show.

I read the dark match result...
Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns beat Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt.
Way to keep that 'brand split' working, WWE. Having Raw's Reigns and Rollins appear in your dark match for Smackdown.

Smackdown's camera work was god-awful, period. The way it constantly swayed and slowly circled around every single thing made me feel like a seasick pirate sailing stormy seas. I desperately want the hard camera view back; without it, there is no solid point of reference and everything feels more confusing to look at.
I feel relieved to know that others here didn't like it either, as elsewhere I've been practically crucified for saying anything negative about it.

Or maybe it's the WWE realizing they don't have enough main event stars to make this brand split work like it did in 2002. Back in 2002, they had Hogan, Rock, Austin, Flair, NWO, Angle, Kane, Taker, Big Show, Edge, all the WCW and ECW guys, and the WWE talent they already had. So there was a lot of well known names there. Not saying the guys now aren't well known, just that era back then had a lot of legends.

Am I the only one who prefers SmackDown to Raw? I like still having some familiar faces around, guys I grew up watching like Kane, Cena, Orton as opposed to a bunch of new era dweebs. For the first time I think SmackDown is better than Raw. The Raw roster has a count on one hand list of people I actually care about, the rest are a bunch of dweebs from NXT.
But I love the new feel for each show again. It's been too long since we've had that. Much credit to WWE for this much needed revamp!

Smackdown was good, but definitely didn't live up to Raw. Hope Ziggler turns heel after losing at summerslam

I just watched Smackdown. First off, I like the new intro. In the battle royal, I saw Del Rio or Kane winning, but I'm glad Apollo Crews won. He should have been drafted on TV instead of being one of the last ones. Becky vs Nattie was a good match. Glad Becky got her win back. I can see the tiebreaker happening at Summerslam. Miz TV with.......the Miz...and Orton was OK. Their match was good. I liked Heath Slater tonighy. He cut a great promo. Loved seeing Rhyno coming back to Smackdown. Marked out like Paul Heyman when he gored Slater. The main event was great, and HOLY S***, I so did not expect Ziggler to win. I might just have to start giving a crap about Ziggler again. I just wish he would stop trying to be Shawn Michaels lite. Smackdown was great, though i liked RAW just a little bit more. I was now hyped for Summerslam just because of the two World Title matches. Still don't care much about Lesnar vs Orton. Oh, almost forgot, i like that Shelton Benjamin is returning. I don't see him getting a huge push, IC Title is the most he'll see with the occasional World Title match

I'm wondering how they are gonna promote Lesnar vs Orton seeing as both stars are from different brands... Is either one of them gonna invade RAW or Smackdown to face off one another?

Personally I think it was a bad move to have Randy Orton back in action, especially unadvertised. Right now, they should have just had Orton come out each week either cutting Promo's or simply coming down and RKO'ing people out of no where. That way, the unpredictablity of the RKO is still displayed to its full extent, and we still have to look forward to seeing him actually go in the ring at Summerslam. It gave away too much tonight without needing to.
Ziggler winning in my eyes is nothing other than to gain a quick ratings boost and to make some of the smarter fans who cherish Ziggler start to tune in to the new Live Smackdown's. This is why I'm praying that Balor goes all the way at Summerslam, otherwise they've pretty much rushed and sacrificed his build just for a few weeks short term boost.
Shelton Benjamin though, didn't see that one coming. Would be great if he joined American Alpha.

A few comments I have to make..... 1. I felt SmackDown was better than RAW this week because a battle royal always has me intrested for some reason, they introduced all the women, Orton vs mix wasn't to long to a point of it being boring, Shelton made mark out along with rhyno, and the main event was a great way to establish sd. 2. I felt RAW was relying on Finn balor way too much. Why does Seth get the automatic push to the title? The 4 ways and women's title match were great nonetheless. 3. Why does battleground get 5 weeks of build and summer slam only 4. Let that sink in wwe has 3 weeks of programming to build a star studded card. 4. No news on sd getting new titles as mentioned by wwe. 5. Finally is there not a way wwe could have reached an agreement with USA to split the 3rd hour of raw with smackdown so both shows could be equal?
