This is pretty funny. Granted, it would've been a fun little idea, and probably a fun little match, but it wouldn't even be a blip on the radar of potential money-drawing feuds with Brock Lesnar.

I had no idea Ryback was this delusional..
I don't care if he trained in MMA for 2 years, there is no scenario where I believe Ryback could take on Brock Lesnar in a sanctioned fight.
Ryback is a big guy to guys standing 6 foot or 5'10"... But Brock would make Ryback look like a child.. In no world is Ryback a solid 6 foot 3.

Come on guys, it would have been just like when Steamboat left and came back as a ninja!!
It wouldn't have worked. It would have gotten out that he wasn't really gone and that the whole thing was a work. The fans would have s**t on him for trying to pull one over on them.
Even if the plan didn't leak out, it wouldn't have worked. Because then it would have looked as if Ryback couldn't make it in MMA and decided to come back with his tail between his legs.
I wouldn't have minded seeing the match, but it didn't need a ridiculous, swerve of a build.

Ryback got OVER once already. Of course this idea sounds insane when you imagine the Ryback we last saw. But imagine if he got back to his original popularity. You cant tell me Lesnar vs 2012 Ryback wouldnt sell, which is what Ryback was getting at. Except after jobbing to Mark Henry pointlessly at Wrestlemania 29 and going on a major losing streak while being a part of RybAxel, nobody was going to buy him as a threat to Brock Lesnar. He was damaged goods at that point.

I think Ryback is the one who's out of touch.

A mega over Ryback would have been a great guy to pin Lesnar after a proper buildup. It is believable and awesome if he was as over as he was earlier on.

LOL@ Ryback thinking he could take on Brock Lesnar and drawing buyrates with 6 months of MMA training. Ryback WAY over thinks his value. Ryback had a catchphrase that got over and was a solid merchandise mover. No more...no less. Ryback/Lesnar, Ryback/Goldberg...no thanks. It would remind me of when Goldberg came and squashed Gillberg.

Ryback was/is absolute garbage. The sooner he accepts that, the better off he'll be.

Seriously, the more he talk, the more delusional he comes off. Yeah, there was a period where he was over big, but if he was big enough, the thing is, when his booking turned south, the same fans gave up on him. If he was at that level, where he could have had a record breaking match, the fans would not have just given up on him so easily, just because of booking. But you can't tell him that. Everytime he talks, I truly believe, he thinks he was the next big thing, that was going to usher in a new golden age.

He said he's been pitchng him vs Lesnar for the last 3 years. Which would be 2013. Ryback was at the height of his popularity in October 2012, and he'd already been Ryback for almost a year at that point.

I could see this working if he actually had, or at least what appeared to be an MMA fight. Even then, it's 2 MMA guys having a wrestling match.
I don't see it working in this age of Wrestling. It's not like there isn't other guys on the roster that have had some MMA training or even fights for that matter.
It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Build him up as monster, have him destroy Brock a few times in the lead up then that is decent. Make Brock appear to be an underdog. Just basic booking.
I guess they could've done it this way all while having a masked guy make some appearances beating up Brock then reveal it to be Ryback.

It really is amazing how many of you clearly didn't comprehend what he said... That after he had peaked he would take 6 months off as a work that he was going to become an MMA fighter and right before he has the fight he returns to WWE to challenge Brock as a new found MMA bad-ass? Nothing Ryback has done in the WWE set him up as a monster and unless Ryback went along with the real fight he would have been seen as a joke by the sports world at large. As for Vince being out of touch about MMA, its funny to say when Lesnar's whole persona was built out of his UFC run and they let him return to further add to the aura.

And the only reaction he was getting, I mean huge reaction, was when he did FEED ME MORE.

This storyline would be gold if you replaced Ryback in the scenario with Bobby Lashley...
