On second thought, I'd like to see Hasbro make a bid and start making WWE ala Legends style. Hasbro isn't afraid to create new molds, butterfly joints, and ankle rockers.

This. Mattel is the number one toy company in the world. Fact, not opinion. (See: Hot Wheels and Barbie) WWE is the number one wrestling company in the world. Or at least they want to be. So why would they settle for anything else? Without saying anything bad about either Mattel or Jakks, I think Mattel has certainly found some creative ways to get figures we otherwise might not have gotten and from Randy Savage to AJ Styles, Mattel has given us many, many names that only seemed like a pipe dream when Jakks had the line. So I hope/believe they will stick with Mattel for the long run. as far as legends, the only big ones really Mattel got are: Savage, Steamboat, Von Erich, & Sting. Jakks has a HUGE list Mattel hasnt made yet: Dude Love Koko B. Ware One Man Gang Don Muraco Gorilla Monsoon Harley Race Superstar Billy Graham Bruiser Brody Chief Jay Strongbow Freddie Blassie Greg Valentine Sabu Fabulous Moolah Ken Shamrock Rick Steiner Brooklyn Brawler Captain Lou Albano Al Snow Bad News Brown Brother Love Mountie Luna Vachon Abdullah the Butcher Bob Backlund Sensational Sherri Zeus The Genius Ron Bass The Barbarian The Warlord Giant Gonzales Repo Man Ken Patera Ivan Putski Val Venis King Mabel Sunny Mae Young Kevin Sullivan Adam Bomb Howard Finkel Nikita Koloff Ron Simmons WCW Tony Atlas Sandman Jesse Ventura Taz Buff Bagwell Spark Plug Holly Chainsaw Charlie Andy Kaufman Spike Dudley Lance Storm Berzerker Billy Kidman Bastion Booger Haku/Meng Giant Machine Dr. Death Steve Williams Mr Fuji Danny Davis Kona Crush Blackman Col Mustafa Virgil Harvy Wimpleman Midnight Express Strike Force Hollywood Blondes Killer Bees British Bulldogs Rock & Roll Express The Russians Too Cool Dudes w/Attitudes Hardy Boyz Mega Maniacs The Freebirds Rythm n Blues Powers of Pain It's true. I had almost all of them before I sold them. The list is pretty overwhelming. All the more reason to hope Mattel keeps the rights. It would take several years to put out a list that even approaches Jakks.

Mattel has a way to go on the flashbacks but you also have to remember Jakks somehow had an entire line dedicated to singles, two packs, three packs and exclusives of Legends. How did they do it and Mattel can't? Umm, I don't know, but perhaps that answer and the answer as to why Jakks and WWE no longer have a contract are linked? Maybe Jakks blew through too much money on all of those classics and so their relationship with WWE ended. One of the biggest differences no one can deny between Jakks and Mattel- in terms of character creation- is that it's different times. In the Jakks days we had WWECW which allowed us many more figures than we get now in the PG Era. At the same time, there were characters in WWE at the time who never got Mattel figures because they didn't stick around and I'm not sure they'd be considered flashbacks for Mattel. But if I have to trade a Sylvester Terkay for Rusev I'm fine with it.

Yeah this is my last go around. Started with Toybiz, then Jakks and now mattel. The only acception I might make is if Mattel sell the moulds to WCT or something. I'm not changes styles.
I will likely move into high end 1/6 figures. If someone (Hot Toys, Enterbay, threezero) start a WWE line of -/6 - I'm likely done with Mattel anyway. Already have a few and it's just a matter of time before someone does this. (I know about the Hogan one, but it's a separate deal outside WWE)

There are a lot of cool wrestlers we haven't gotten. I'm riding with Mattel or I stop collecting.
(Was going to write down a whole list of figures that hasn't been made but what for, Mattel has been hearing us)

At this point I'm too invested in these to ever switch.
It was bad enough switching from Jakks but those at least weren't as much of a financial investment as these have been. By the time they'd lose the license, I imagine the going rate for a similar figure will be $25, and I just don't have the money or interest to pick up from there.

I think Mattel is really successful with the brand so they would probably renew the contract. I think that in two years things will stay the same so long as they don't overproduce.

There's a lot that we don't, and won't, know. But I think unless there are some major disagreements over terms, it's a win-win for both companies. I was honestly surprised how long Jakks retained the license dating back to the BCA days. Jakks is a tiny company compared to Mattel.

I sure hope the contract lasts/gets renewed. Ive already put in so much $$$ into my collection that it would be absolutely devastating to restart.
Though if all comes crashing down, Id definitely like to see the license go to Hasbro. I feel Hasbros Legends/Black Series figures have some pretty good molds & articulation is actually decent.

I am 100% ride or die with Mattel but if someone was to buy the molds and then improve the line even further you might have my attention.
If Hasbro took the license I garauntee they will scale them down to 6". Its fun to imagine how other companies would handle the line though.

It's going to be Jakks, calling it now. Never. Jakks screwed WWe with underhanded deals. Besides Jakks is dead in the water

WWE will never go back to JAKKS. JAKKS is flourishing with their UFC license that is outselling Mattel WWE figures 10 to 1. Stores are already downsizing their Mattel inventory & shelf space to make room for the next wave of UFC figures.
