Jakks CS had some kick ass figs and GREAT head scans. wish someone could do a thread with every legend comparison side by side. you would see the detail in Mattel is awesome, but the some figs look a bit skinnyish. ex: Bundys head went on diet without him. some (like Paul Bearer) have those arms of a 29 yr old fitness girl with the kinda muscular/toned arms/shoulders (a turn off for me with women and the figs). and you'd see sometimes the bulky cartoonish Jakks was right for the fig. I f'n LOVE BOTH! I love both too. I love the history of wrestling figs, without one we wouldn't have the other. Jakks had a lot of faults, but for the time they were amazing. If Mattel had the contract between 95 and 2005 (for you example), there would be more faults than there are now. Respect all brands.

Ok. I appreciate everyone's opinions, and I now realize that there are only a tiny number of figures that Jakks actually did better than Mattel did. I agree with all of you, and I too prefer Mattel over Jakks. That leads me to my next question. Should I make a thread about what Jakks figures were actually better than Mattel's versions? That would make an interesting thread in my opinion. Who else would be interested in that?

I liked the photo comparisons in your original post, so if there are pics I would be interested to see it, however I suspect you will get similar responses in that many consider all Mattel versions to be superior.

If you're still comparing Jakks to Mattel, you've been spending to much time with Rob ford

I shouldn't pile on, but... This one, I think is a decent effort... I don't see what you are getting at here... These are actually two good figures.

I really don't understand the hatred for Jakks. I am sure that all of these people here "hating" on them where at one time a Jakks collector. And I am sure that, at the time, they were reacting to new and upcoming figures the same way. They had plenty of gems. It is unfair and biased to completely shut down all of their figures. Has Mattel outdone them from time-to-time. Yes. I am not denying that. My favorite example of this would be Rikishi. I still shake my head when I see the CS Rikishi, but the Mattel version actually got me back into collecting. However, a few missteps doesn't allow us to erase and forget the times they did well. Many of their CS figures are spot on. And for all of those Mattel lovers, they are not perfect either. Basic figures are complete garbage. For Jakks, the Ruthless Aggression line didn't feel like a step down. The only difference between the RA and CS lines was the roster between them. The Basic figures look cheaply made and most people don't even want them. Instead we choose the detailed, yet expensive, Elites. Why can't we just give both companies credit where credit is due. You don't need to hate Jakks to show your love for Mattel.

Say what you will about Mattel being better than Jakks... Jakks being better than Mattel... I sold every single WWE figure I own except for ONE single 2 pack... The Jakks Classic Superstars Tag Team 2-pack LOD! ABSOLUTE BEST wrestling figures EVER MADE!! Jakks absolutely kicked Mattel's ass on this one!! Cause we all remember when Hawk & Animal has the same size arms and both wore laced up boots. And those jakks figures came with the awesome added gauntlets as well!! Then again, Im still waiting to find an accurate match to those attires. Ive still yet to see them wear the gold trimmed attire with Red/black shoulder pads in an actual match. That Kamala is identical in terms of detail.. Rikishi doesn't look all that great. I tell you Jakks did nail.. Hardcore Holly, Raven, Test, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, nWo Hogan... How did JAKKS Ricky Steamboat, Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, Macho Man, Magnum TA, Sting and Larry Zbyszko turn out?? You obviously missed the point on that guy's post. He wasn't saying that the Jakks versions of Kurt Angle, Hardcore Holly, Raven etc. are better than Mattel's versions (since Mattel didn't make them). He is just trying to defend the point that Jakks made some quality figures. And he is right. In those cases, Jakks nailed it. Look at the Raven figure in the TNA line. I would love to see an attempt at a better headscan. Also, it is not fair of you to list those wrestlers since Jakks never had a chance to make them. They weren't able to make a Macho Man figure at the time.

voicesinmyhead unfortunately people will find any excuse to bash a company that hasn't been WWE's main wrestling figure producer in 7 years.

you could look at the Jakks fig and immediately tell its Cena, if you put that Mattel head on any other body, someone with less knowledge would have a hard time identifying this generic looking white guy Other way around.

This one, I think is a decent effort... ....I like this Shawn (apart from being a bit too muscular/thick) - have Mattel made him in this attire?

Coming from someone who loves BCA figures (hence the name and why I'm here) I think its kinda sad when people post BCA pics representing Jakks in the argument. That'd be like talking about 2 artists and one guys says "Hey but look how crap this guy was!" and he pulls up a picture the dood did in 3rd grade lol. They were crap but in a lot of ways I love them more than any other figure made after (and I collected RA's the most). But they shouldnt be held as the highest standard that jakks was able to achieve in their time. at. all. Jakks was a fine company. and Mattel is too. They both have done dumb stuff (I know this from seeing so many disgruntled comments from Mattel collectors) Theres no need to act the way people act towards Jakks and treat them so unfairly to me. But hey this is the Mattel thread and I knew what it was gonna be before I clicked on this thread lol. shine on you crazy diamonds

For all those that continue to bash Jakks WWE figures - what's the point!! I'm sure at the time everyone thought the Nokia 3310 was great - now compare that to the iPhone 7. That to me is the same as comparing Jakks WWE and Mattel WWE figures. Maybe we should be comparing the current TNA Jakks (if they still make them) against the WWE Mattel figures - that to me is a more relevant comparison.

I wont bash TTl,bca,or R3 because at least they had a real humans anotomy and could actually perform a powerbomb. RAs and classic superstars had lil to no effort with ppl being the same size and everyone was "jakked" lol. Most RAs and CS fig's hips were so close together they were touching! TTl r3 etc were actually playable, while RAs seemed like they were taking 2 steps back with quality and functionality( tna toybiz figs were out at this time too.) i feel like a lot of us bought them because they were all that was out at the time for wwe figs. if you couldnt tell i hate RAs and CS, i have a box of loose ones and ill check them out once in a while and they just anger me, another thing that sucked about them was you couldnt use them with other wrestling lines either because of theyre scaling.
Not a figure thats better, but jakks did have better paint. These figures have been pretty banged up over the years getting thrown in boxes, played with etc and 90% of them still have all facial paint details, i cant say that about mattels cheap paint, drop a mattel fig on its face and theres a 60% chances itll be missing a hunk of eyebrow when you pick it up lol
Besides the paint issues i love the mattel figs!

Jakks had some god awful figures! so does Mattel, but most of Mattels are qc issues. May I remind you of basic Lana in denim and the America Alpha battle pack.

I'm going back to a brick when my contract is up in June. I feel like I spent the last 5 years looking at a phone. I'm going to try to recall what real life is like!! Pretty much every HHH head is better than any Mattel have made until he shaved his head.
