Between Axxess and WrestleCon, Mania weekend was a great addition of autographs for me!
I don't think I ever posted this, but I met Roman Reigns at the Chicago World of Wheels last month. He signed my WM32 poster and also a photo I took of him with his daughter after his title win for the same show.
On Thursday, I made the trip to meet Dolph Ziggler. He was signing at a Walmart that was located a decent distance away from where everyone was staying. I had a rental car, so I decided to make the drive. I arrived about 90 minutes before the signing and only had around 50 people in front of me. The line eventually grew, but had the signing been closer to where everyone was staying, there definitely would have been more people. I took this photo of him a few years back and had it printed on a metal print. Unfortunately, the marker didn't do a great job on his first name, but it is what it is. The print and autograph were both free, so I'm not going to complain.
From the Ziggler signing, I headed over to Hulk Hogan's new beach shop. I bought a ticket for the 12-4 signing. I was told you could show up at anytime, so I got there around 2:45. I was told Hogan had just stepped out to take a short break, so I roamed the store. The short break lasted almost an hour, but at least I could look around at all the cool stuff he had in there. The price was steep ($160 with tax) for an autograph and photo. I honestly didn't even want the photo, just the autograph. Hogan was awesome and very friendly everyone. He signed my WM30 program.
I had to be at NXT during the Bray Wyatt VIP signing, so my sister was nice enough to take my ticket and go in my place to get an autograph for me on my WM30 program. She loosely follows wrestling now (she was just tagging along on my trip for a Disney vacation) so when I showed her who I wanted her to meet, she thought I was joking. My gold paint pen died right after the Hogan signing, but I assumed they'd have a gold marker there for him to use. Turns out I was wrong and the only choices were black or silver. That was disappointing, but I wasn't there, so there was nothing I could do in the moment. My sister said Wyatt was hitting on my sister, but she was having none of it. I told her she'd have to also get a photo with him, which she wanted no part of, but did it anyways. Unfortunately, she doesn't know what she did with the card, so I'll never seen how miserable she looked in it.
WrestleCon was a main focus for me on Saturday, as there were 9 people I was planning to meet. Great Khali cancelled, so that saved me a bit of money. For my WM28 poster, I met Teddy Long, JJ Dillon, Tully Blanchard, Hornswoggle, Drew Mcintyre, and Barry Windham. They all signed that poster, and here's an updated photo of it:
For my WM32 poster, I met Ryback and Wade Barrett, and they signed that poster.
Now I decided to roll the dice....
I took a great photo of Ric Flair and Charlotte at WM32 and thought it'd be a great piece to get signed. Ric was going to be at WrestleCon, so I was going to have him sign it. His appearance time was messed up at the last minute, when WWE booked him for a Foot Locker appearance that afternoon. So his appearance time was changed to 1:30-4. Charlotte was going to be at the 1-5 Axxess session, but it was unknown if she'd be there from 1-3 or 3-5. It was now 12:30 and I had downtime until Ric was appearing, so I decided to leave WrestleCon and head over Axxess, in hopes to meet Charlotte. Turns out, it was my lucky day. She ended up signing in the 1-3 time slot. She loved the photo, and even personalized it "To Be the Woman..", which I didn't ask her or expect her to, which was a nice touch. I headed back over to WrestleCon and met Ric, who also signed it. This is going to make a great addition to the future man cave.
I don't typically have much time to be a fan and get autographs, as I'm usually working 24-7 during Mania week, so I really feel like I lucked out this year. By the end of the weekend, I'm hoping to post my Mania photo experience.
