It's the jakks snow boots thing all over again. Mattel made this weird short boot thing that they will use instead of the correct tall kickpads just like jakks.

Parts choices have been completely nonsensical lately and it's happening with seemingly increased frequency. In some cases where there is deco involved, it's not just an easy fix, and very often turns an automatic buy into an easy pass.

i want this Seth figure....cuz i've wanted an NXT Seth Rollins since 2012 when i was watching the Gold Rush tourney pre-Network days
but i know if i bought it...i'd have to ask @zombieapocalypse to crack'r open and change like every single part on this damn thing. Just keeping the trunks/head/boots

For reference: where are the black calves/shins? Small black kneepads that meet the kickpad design. No big ass gap. I can let scale and parts slide on $10 basics, but im getting fed up $20 "elites" being thrown together. Really wanted this, but the boots are a huge letdown. Ive already spent thousands on these so naturally no one cares at Mattel, and of course "dont like it dont buy it" is an option except that I do like it but would like real reasons for these parts and not just "shut up" responses. Very true! I wanted this figure so bad (even his white NXT attire) and this is a BIG let down. From pictures he is the same height as the previous Seth Elites. So why change the kick pads and paint the calves?

On the upside, they can start using this mold for HBK instead of the regular knee high kick pads they have been using.

this board gets like 3 new threads a week that aren't just pick-ups... why are we complaining about people contributing? there's not a finite amount of room.

Legit argument here. Idk what goes through their head with these part changes but I don't think it's going to change any time soon.

On the upside, they can start using this mold for HBK instead of the regular knee high kick pads they have been using. But now he'll get Rock's torso too

Mattel is like that crazy girlfriend. She makes you so happy one second then just ruins you the next chance she gets. Yeah it looks decent..but still they had the right parts all ready for this Seth lol all they had to do was use the CM Punk mold and slap that new head on and the medium black knee pads. These are the arms and legs he should have now (arms may be too big but more accurate than the ones they stick on him now). Can someone that has this figure pose him next to the recent Rollins figures?

I think the torso works if they had used the rest of the same parts as the RSC Balor he would have been rear perfect. Comparison pic -

I'm not buying this but I find it humorous that you're so upset over this yet you defended Mattel when I criticized them for giving Bray cruiser weight arms and making it look like he tucks his shirt in.
But this Rollins is booty.

Honestly didn't even notice this till this thread 🤔 Odd choice of kickpad parts.

I don't think we'll ever get a legitimate reason as to why they pick the parts they do, and I highly doubt Bill would be allowed to walk into this minefield of a topic even if he wanted to. Anything we come up with is pure speculation, and I'd imagine the actual truth would probably anger people even more.
The truth is, Mattel really doesn't have an urgent reason to overhaul anything, since people still buy whatever is released. This Seth is a pretty ugly figure parts wise, as is the recent Rhyno. But a majority of collectors are rushing out to buy these 2 currently. And its not like the issue is pure QC, where none of us have any clue as to how bad things are until we get it out of the box. Many of these figures are clearly flawed from the start, and people buy them anyhow. Even though this site is a small sample size of the collecting community, a quick trip to places like FB and Instagram show the same trend. People will point out all the glaring issues on a figure, buy it anyhow, then buy even more Mattel figures or kit-bash from their existing collection to properly fix all the issues.
Ultimately you can't wait for Mattel to give you any answers, and instead need to decide on your own what your limits are with this line. You can choose to be content to take these for what they are, and enjoy the labor of tweaking things to make them perfect in your eyes. Or alternatively, you can keep your money in your pocket, and let more of these questionable figures shelf-warm like they probably should.

Mattel doesn't worry because they know the figures will sell. When I do not like a figure I pass and I sugest you people do the same, if you continue to buy what you consider bad they will continue to give us bad figures because they don't need to put on the market perfect figures to sell.

This should be a no brainer for me. Tyler Black was my favorite ROH wrestler of all time. I literally drove all over Florida going to shows when Rollins was in FCW. I'd say the list of people who wanted Rollins in trunks more than me is pretty short.
But look at that sh*t... everything is wrong. The gave him Jakks snow boots. It's like the WWE fans who make fun of the dying days of WCW but defend WWE when they have a kendo stick on a pole match. Mattel really made a very bad figure here and it's truly unfortunate.
The boots make it unfixable. That's easily the most frustrating part because I would have swapped the arms, knee pads and head, even though stuff like that has gotten frustrating too after years of doing it.
I'm honestly not sure if I'll buy it. I've been debating it with myself every time I see the figure. It feels like a pass, which should be unthinkable for me.

my theory is....with Mattels penchant for changing the build of a an elite, and then unwaveringly sticking to that build no matter what; that they are giving all new Seth Rollins elites the Cody/Dolph treatment and changing his parts to make him freakishly bulky. For whatever ungodly reason.
I don't believe that MDT made a younger, smaller FCW/NXT era Seth elite huge on purpose.....but that they are likely making a current Seth Rollins w/ these parts at the same time. So now that this is the new mold for all Seths....it just so happens the NXT Seth is the first we are seeing w/ these parts.

It always amazes me when I see people comment on threads like these and ridicule other members for being unhappy with how a finished product turned out. This is an outlet for people to communicate their thoughts on these figures because they are something we all collect and value. So please let people do so.
Yes, it's always gonna come down to you either put up with the ugly figure, or you pass on it, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't express our thoughts or opinions on the figure just because they may be negative. It's aggravating when you wait around for a specific version of a wrestler to be made and then when it's finally made, it is inaccurate or is executed poorly. That's exactly how I feel about the two most recent Charlotte figures.
This Seth was heavily anticipated for a lot of people, and it ended up being a let down for many. There are just instances sometimes where it comes across that Mattel may not have put the most effort into a particular figure and just got lazy, and this is definitely one of those instances.

Are those boots new? I thought they were the same kickers that the MVP figures have.
