Oh wow. Thats not good. How do i prevent my moc figures from getting like that? If i dont seal them up in a plastic container then they should be ok? I have some on the wall & some in storage tubs, both get like that

Nikki is by far the worst I've seen but the above Mark Henry and Series 1 Batista are a couple I've seen with the same problem. McFarlanes Simpsons figures were covered in this mouldy looking stuff as well. Playmates Classic Collection 6" Turtles ALL seem to have the old white fuzzy head look too.

Ive noticed it on some of my figures who have black attires (it shows up on darker colors obviously). Usually every time I dust my shelves I have to take a wet cloth to all the black attired figures (Taker, Kane, Lawler etc) and wipe a white residue off them.

That happened big time to my Dark Knight Movie Masters. They've only been standing on a shelf too.

I've noticed a few of my MOC figures have this ^ issue... mainly seems to be the 2012/white-carded figures, for some reason...(?)

Same with my loose Battlepack Titus O'Neil figure that is in a storage box along with others. Very strange now that this topic has been bought up

I've had this happen with my Superman figures cape and my Playmates Classic TMNT Movie figures. It happens on the whole figure of the Turtles.
Sucks that it happens, but I'm glad to see its not just my Turtle figures that it happens to.

I was going to get the bella battlepack on clearance and passed because Nikki hair was just the same. I thought it was an error.

i had a Hasbro marvel legends thor figure basically melt. went to wash him off and the paint was running. same series with the BAF blob.
that figure looks horrible btw, skin tones are way off, shaky lines. Awful.

I noticed this on alot of figures while I was re-storing them into acid-free bags. It seems to disappear using a blowdryer for about 30 seconds. Very few Jakks figures had it compared to Mattel. My MOC Star Trek Voyager figures have the same problem, too.

Just checked mine and it has gone grey the exact same way, it must be something to do with that particular figure as its on display in the same room as the rest of my collection and none of them have gone that way.
I also checked the other 2 Nikkis that use the same head (the red one and the green battle pack one) and neither of them have done this and they have been on display longer.

So I bought this figure around Christmas 2016, and it has been in a storage tub sealed since then....I happened to open it to look for a figure and this is what I found??? That's scary, I keep my figures for a really long time and I hope that isn't going to start happening to more of them.

Hmmmm, I can finally use my schooling for some this.... This powder is from the mixing process. Its a substance that is miced with rubbers and plastics, and during the vuring process, ot tends to seep through very very small pours in the rubber/plastic during cooling. These are typically the first few from the batch that end up like this because the rubber or plastic wasn't yet cured.
It can also happen during storage. If the items experience an extreme temperature change such as near a A/C vent or window, it can change the durometer or hardiness of the plastics, with this happeneing over and over, weakens the plastics this drawing out this powder. Its like a detox of plastics/rubber.
It also just happens with age. Many rubbers and plastics have a shelf life of around 15 years. I know for a fact there are zero toy companies that use the much more expensive rubbers/plastics that have an unlimited shelf life.
