Hey guys!
I went to WrestleMania 33 in April and had a incredible time. It was definitely a trip I thought would never happen for me and I'm so thankful that I was able to experience the entire weekend of events and wrestling! The thing is that in April, my dad decided to have a vacation that was pretty expensive since it was my last year before I go to college, so he really spent a lot to make it a trip I would never forget including my flight, all my meals, a ton of merch, extra tickets to non-WWE events of the weekend, and of course our WrestleMania travel packages. This coming year I want to attend once again with a couple friends, but I'm on my own!
I'm wondering everyone's personal experiences with traveling to 'Mania, money-wise. Do you guys think travel packages are the way to go or try to fish for tickets to all the events? How much spending money do you guys think is enough? Any tips getting tickets or anything you guys have heard about when WM34 packages go on-sale or how much they'll be?
Right now, I'm looking at how much the WM30 packages were and basing my prices off of that. For two people, the cheapest package was $1,000 each. That is very doable for me because I don't mind paying for convenience and having my hotel and all tickets taken care of in one payment. I'm also wondering when the best times are to buy flights. I'll be flying out of St. Louis directly to New Orleans.
I would also love to hear from anyone that went to WM30. I've been to New Orleans twice and love it, but how was it for hosting Mania? I've only heard incredible things and I can't imagine that it disappoints.
Thanks guys!

I've bought separately and done a travel package. If cost is an issue, I'd recommend putting in the extra leg work and purchase separately.
I attended WM30 and had a blast. Everything is centralized, so there's no need for a car rental, and depending on where you stay, possibly no need for taxis or uber. Enjoy the night life, even if you don't drink. The people watching is incredible.
You might want to search back for the WM33 travel thread from here. There was a lot of good information in it.

I think travel package is the best choice if you want to make use of all it offers. It will also get you a guaranteed hotel close to the arenas, which was a problem for WM30. Our hotel was a drive away from the venues (mainly for price), but during the trip we learned that all the hotels were books for all the neighboring cities for NO's radius. We didn't get travel packages because frankly we weren't too knowledgeable of them at the time. I can tell you, though, that NOLA was much better host city than Dallas two years ago!

Here's the thread that HHH316 was talking about, forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/338028/wrestlemania-trip-planning-thread The travel packages are extremely expensive but the positives are that your covered for everything WWE wise and you don't have to worry about getting tickets to anything outside of Axxess VIP & PVIP'S (if you choose a lower package) and you don't have to deal with ticketmaster! I bought everything individually for Mania this year since it was cheaper and only had a hard time getting tickets for Raw & VIP axxess sessions because they were released at random intervals.

I went to 29 with a travel package. After a 8 hour plane ride from hell ( screaming kids and their deaf parents) it was a blast. Easy to get around NY, which I didn't expect. All around a great experience and I can't complain with almost ringside at WM, front row at HoF, and 6th row at RAW after. Good stuff. Worth every penny.

I would say travel package if you have never done a Mania before, or if you don't know much about the hosting city.
I went to this years Mania in Orlando for all under $700 dollars. Granted, my sister lives in Orlando, but I got us Plaza level Mania tickets as well as H.O.F. tickets and airfare for under that price.
I actually did research about Nola and am planning my Mania trip now. Planning on getting NXT, Mania, and RAW tickets this year. H.O.F. was cool but not worth the cash as it was kind of boring. The only way I would do H.O.F. is if I could get floor seats and be nearr the roster, other than that I think those three events will be good.
I am pumped because I know the party scene down there is going to be insane, so even if I skip AXXESS or H.O.F. theres always going to be something to do.

Did alacart for WM30 and travel packages for 32, and the last 4 Summerslams
Pros: almost all the best seats are reserved for travel package people, either floors seats or the seats dead in the middle of the ring. Depending on which package you get, other items are included. For example, private meet and greats not open to the public. You get everything at once and don't have to do it separately which does become a bitch. There are 5-6 events WWE hosts that weekend, all with different on sale times and days, some not until January.
Cons: random seat selection, you don't know your exact seat and row until they mail you your package a month before the event. Hotels are sometimes no where near the event. SS, the hotel they use is an hour drive from Barclays, for 32, it was s 45 minute bus ride. Pro is they pay for you to get to the arena (coach bus, subway tickets).

We considered doing travel packages for 33 this year, but opted to do it on our own. In the end, I wound up with seats comparable to the Gold package for all events except NXT and paid significantly less. We had balcony seats for NXT, but honestly, if my group had been up to it, we could've upgraded the day of the show and not spent a whole lot more.
A lot of that has to do with having some good luck during the pre-sales/on-sales and having access to the right credit cards to participate in those sales.
All in all, we each spent about $2000 for our flights (Maine to Orlando), 7 nights at the Holiday Inn Suites across from Universal, 4 days at Universal/Islands of Adventure, and tickets for NXT, Wrestlemania, Raw, Smackdown, 1 GA Axxess, and 1 VIP Axxess.
We're looking at going again next year and are considering both options again. Hotels in NOLA are way more than Orlando, so there may not be as much of a disparity in price between DIY and travel package.
