I agree with the previous answers of a poor product. I mean, I find it bearable because I have faith that eventually they will realise what they have done and make it better, but I can see why so many people have given up on it. If you put out a crapty product, then people won't care to watch, which means less subscribers for the WWE Network.
But if they're really losing money, then they should just double the price of the WWE Network. I've always felt that for just £10 a month, it's a real bargain, with the gigantic library and collections that it has. I would happily pay double, if they really need to. Anything to get pyro back...

Solution:
1. Make Raw 2 hours 2. Get rid of 205Live 3. Release a bunch of cruiserweights and merge the popular ones to Raw and Smackdown 4. Release the following: - Summer Rae - Alicia Fox - Curt Hawkins - Darren Young - Kalisto - Sin Cara - Primo - Epico - Mojo Rawly 5. Stop doing 2 ppvs a month. Each month should only have one brands PPV.

Lots of replies in this thread hit the nail on the head. I've been a fan since 1985 and I honestly gave up on wwe. It's been my obsession since I was a child. ..literally an obsession. I dedicated my life to it. The product is absolutely horrible and when someone who is obsessed with wrestling can't stand to watch their weekly TV shows ( I can almost handle smackdown...almost) that's a very bad sign. The past 2 years or so have really turned me off to the product. As far as the network goes...I just want to see all the classic stuff add more of that and I'll be happy. I'd never ever pay for a wwe ppv these days....hell they're included in my subscription& sometimes I don't even finish them. So True. I can't even begin to tell you how true this is...

I always say it and so do others, it's just not believable that the same people are writing both shows. 2016 Smackdown was hands down the most entertaining and enjoyable WWE has ever been since 2011/2012. People say that Vince ultimately has all the decisions on Smackdown but I just can't believe it... How can someone make such great booking decisions and have such great segments, but the night prior the show is a boring train wreck. I'll always believe that Triple H has to have some form of hierarchy when it comes to decisions on that show since it's not the "A-Show".

People like me are one reason their profits are down. I've been watching WWE/WWF for as long as I can remember, since 1990, but late last year I finally got fed up with seeing the same old thing over and over. Everything feels like it's been done before (we've seriously been getting the Evil Corporate Owner villain for nearly 20 years!!), and I had no interest in seeing Roman as the face of the company (spoiler: he'll "defy the odds" and emerge as the "underdog" champion at the next WrestleMania). I dropped my Network subscription and stopped watching Raw & Smackdown regularly, and despite some high points like Samoa Joe and the Jericho/KO feud, I haven't seen anything to make me want to return to watching WWE on a regular basis.

They should cut down on house shows and give these guys a little break. I'm not sure how much it costs to run a house show and whether they break even on ticket and merchandise sales. But it baffles me they run house shows the same night of a TV day. Smackdown runs house shows every Monday night. Same with PPVS. Last week during Battleground there was a Raw house show.

Honestly, I'd say watching old shows and PPVs is the main reason I will always keep my subscription.
I'll catch the occasional big PPV and will always watch Wrestlemania, but that is about it for the current product as it's really deteriorated. You can not watch for a month and miss absolutely nothing. That's not good.
My brother is coming over this week and we're going to watch Summerslam 1997 as the 20 year anniversary is in a few days. It was the first PPV we ever attended. More excited about reliving an old show than this year's Summerslam which is only a few weeks away.

Before some of you start cutting back on Live Events and moving Raw back to two hours, you might want to know where WWE makes the bulk of their money. It may not change you mind, and I'm not trying to, but you should know the numbers.
It's a little more involved, but for simplicity sake, after expenses here is where WWE makes their money(six months ending June 30th 2017):
TV(aka TV rights fees) - 62.6 million Live Events - 29.7 Million Network - 17.3 Million

It's main eventers are fighting for a mid card title and most of the roster sit in the locker room most weeks with nothing to do. Atleast Raw uses most of it's talent and everyone in someway is involved in something. Smackdown in 2016 was awesome but 2017 has been mediocre.

I have to echo a lot of the sentiments in this thread already. It's no surprise WWE profits are hugely down. They don't listen to the fans. They don't build with the future in mind at all. They use a plug and play type of writing strategy that doesn't allow for actual different personalities.
Now, I'm no expert in all the ins and outs, but if it were me making some decision, here's a few things I'd do right away...
- First and foremost, embrace the fact that you are a Professional Wrestling company. There's no reason why you can't still have the occasional guest star one your show or one of your wrestlers appear in a movie of TV episode, but I feel like the best thing WWE could do is stop trying so damned hard to be a mainstream entertainment empire and focus on being a great professional wrestling company. Mainstream attention will come if you put on really good show week in and week out. More importantly, most of the people working for WWE on screen are men and women who grew up loving WRESTLING. Just watch how much more motivated they are when they can stop being "superstars" and start being "wrestlers" again. Watch how much harder they try when they actually feel like there's something to work for and truly believe that if they work hard week in and week out, they can actually reach the top of the company instead of smashing into a glass ceiling only to watch other, far less talented people get chance after chance because the boss likes the way they look.
- On the same note, get rid of those damned Hollywood style writers. It doesn't work. Hire some people who know wrestling and limit the number to only a handful at best. Too many cooks in the kitchen only results in a giant mess.
- RAW is just too damned long at three hours each week. There's not enough quality in the product to do that over and over again without repeating yourself too often. Unfortunately, USA isn't about to cut an hour from one of their best rated shows, so... Stop doing 205 Live on Tuesday nights. Do the same show, but move it to the first hour of RAW and call it 205 Live Presented By Monday Night Raw. You still have a great showcase for the cruiserweights (I actually like 205 Live, even though it's become cool to hate on it recently), but you cut the main RAW show back to two hours, which means it's easier for the writers to put on a compelling show and still have something for fans to come back to the next week. Plus, I'd imagine it would save a bit of money not filming another hour of live TV every week and not having the cruiserweights travel to SmackDown on Tuesdays.
- Make Championships meaningful again. Championships are the thing guys and gals are supposed to be striving for. It's hard to believe it's a real prize when the champion loses every non-title match or doesn't appear on the show regularly (note - that doesn't necessarily mean they have to be there wrestling every week). Make strong looking champions and you make strong looking Championships. Of course, that really goes back to having better writers who actually know wrestling. Just look at Ring Of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling and how they handle their titles. They may be lesser prestige Championships in the grand scheme of the wrestling world, but it actually feel like a big deal when one of those titles changes hands.
Don't get me wrong, there's still a lot to love about WWE. They have, far and away, the most athletically talented roster ever from top to bottom and there's some very excellent wrestling matches being put on from time to time. They just need to stop trying to be something they're not. IMO, if they stop trying to be decent mainstream entertainment and start trying to be great professional wrestling, new fans will appear and old fans will come back in droves soon enough.

I have ZERO sympathy for WWE's current state.. They need sh*t like this to happen and happen more often to show them that alot of what they've been doing is not working.
They need a wake up call. Big time.

I won't be surprised if we see the network subscription fee increase. This will be dangerous because it will make a lot of people who haven't realized they're still subscribed to unsubscribe. Not to mention the people who won't find the increase justified. They're playing with fire on that one, and I think they realize it - hence no price change so far.

Why doesn't wfigs run wwe? Oh, we'd run it into the ground in five minutes. "WE'RE PUSHING SAMI THIS MONTH!" "NO, WE'RE PUSHING NAKAMURA, DAMMIT!" "Guys, guys... you're both wrong. WE'RE CALLING UP ALEISTER BLACK, AND HAVING HIM UNIFYING BOTH TITLES TONIGHT!" "Let's just focus on the women's division. Are we all mutually agreed that it should be Asuka vs. Bayley in a Best of Five Series for the Women's Title, with the final match being an hour-long ironwoman match?" " that! It's going to be Alexa vs. Lana vs. Becky in a triple threat bra & panties pudding match for the title. With the losers posing for Playboy. And the winner posing for Playboy."

And how about we fire this guy, but then realize we need him and try to rehire him the next month.
