I'm not sure how well they do in the UK but there's always a lot of people when I go in. Would hate for my TRU to go since where I live it's pratically the only toy shop In the uk Smyths is way better than TRU for WWE. But then what happens if Smyths wants more money because there's no competition, there literally wouldn't be a toy shop as big as Smyths and ones that do WWE figures

THE SKY IS FALLING! Bankruptcy does not automatically mean all stores are closed. It'll start as a restructuring, which will make the company smaller and leaner if possible. If it's found that it's not possible...then yes, the company will either fold, or be bought out. And no, it's not Amazon's fault. The fault lies in those who had been running the company and saddled TRU with billions in debt that it couldn't dig out from under. Amazon, Walmart, and Target are just competitors. You are correct. It doesnt mean an auto close. Restructuring is usually an option. However, evidently not for TRU. They are not looking to restructure and are ready to let the ship sink. Restructuring requires the company to make drastic changes. TRU has a proven track record for the past 10 years that it is NOT willing to make any changes for long term success. They closed ranks and denied free flowing capital all in the name of sucking every last dying drop from the company. Whether or not its even possible at this point is another story, though it sounds more like not...clearly TRU does not have the desire. Keep in mind, they were saddled with this debt bc they couldnt offset with any capital investment. And yes, Amazon DOES play a significant role in the fall of TRU. Amazon does not have a customer service problem. Amazon does not have a stocking issue. Amazon determines what to stock based on sales. And while its more cost effective since they only need to determine stock based on sales from a single location...they still depend on those marketing numbers. They are not going to just keep buying more and more Star Wars because some guy sitting at his desk in the middle of bumble says that Star Wars is a big seller nationally...thus it makes it a big seller in Orlando Florida as it is in Juno Alaska as it is in Billing Montana. Amazon saw how the future was changing and what customers wanted and delivers just that. And while Amazon may make unilateral global decisions...they can do it because they arent servicing region specific. Meaning that just because there is warehouse in your backyard, doesnt mean when you make your order...thats where its coming from. You the consumer are purchasing from a national stock. If the warehouse in your backyard doesnt have it...they look to the next closest, so on and so forth. Brick and mortars do not have this luxury. Nonetheless, TRU had seen done nothing but take the advantages they had like the birthday club and rewards dollars and cut and slash them, rendering them oblivious against the change in market. sooo many people in here that don't understand how it works are panicing WAY too early. There are a lot of people who dont understand. And most of them are kids that dont have a firm grasp on markets, business, bankruptcy, etc. But you are wrong about it being early to panic in this case. Its too LATE to panic. That time has come and gone. The petition is going to be filed in a week or so. At this point, they are crossing ts and dotting Is. The direction of this BK has already been determined and its designed so that it will in fact get affirmed. Normally I wouldn't quote you because you're one of the few people I have on my ignore list, but curiosity got the better of me and I checked out what you posted. Here's my response: www.toysrusinc.com/restructuringRestructuring InformationAnd, as usual, you're wrong and you completely missed the point. Amazon is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the issues TRU is facing. Amazon didn't saddle TRU with debt. It's also NOT Amazon's fault that TRU can't compete with them.

Such a shame that TRU is downsizing. I hope they can pull through somehow.

Are they closing stores or just filing? They've filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will be restructuring the company in the hopes of going lean and alleviating issues with their debt. That might involve closing some stores that are underperforming. As of now? Nothing is different.

hopefully they figure this stuff out. maybe they need to close a few underperforming stores, change their structure and try to get the stores back on track. walmart & target dont have "enough" toys....TRU despite its higher prices, is still a good place to go to get stuff.
they need to figure out how to get more competitive. maybe this will actually help them.

Amazon and Walmart are putting their competition out of business. Wait until the two merge.

Man it's really gonna suck if toysrus goes under. They have been my go to store for most of this year. They are my only store option for new neca alien/predator figures.

Why do these types of threads always turn into dumpster fires? I've cleaned it up for the first and last time. That goes for everyone.
