That's a shame to hear. Odd that he waited so long to disclose this. He's mentioned returning several times, but never anything about this. It came out during an alimony dispute with his ex. He said that WWE isn't going to re-sign his merchandise deal either, which I thought was the strangest part of the story. During a divorce people say some strange things. He likely bent the truth

Sucks given the circumstances but I wouldn’t really want to see him back after his last lackluster run in 2013. I’m sure this doesn’t stop him from wrestling elsewhere though?

But he was arguing for a smaller alimony payment because he "no longer lives the lavish life is a WWE Superstar." His quote, not mine. And he gave the concussion and ending merchandise deal as examples

Those ecw guys just keep going.

I think he is one of those few people who almost everyone seems to like, at least from the modern era. So, yeah, this sure does suck. I think we could still see him on WWE TV in some way, like with that 'Edgier' product they asked if people would be interested in on the Network.

Terrible news, but I'm shocked that he's still capable of wrestling anywhere at all, given his risky style.

This is one of those situations where I don't blame WWE. If he has a concussion that is so bad it caused "visual impairment" then yeah, WWE can't risk him suffering a worse injury, or potentially injuring another Superstar because he makes a mistake. Maybe he lands in the wrong spot and really hurts somebody because he can't see straight.
it's unfortunate, but WWE is doing the right thing for him and the company. I don't agree with cutting off his merch deal, though. I'd keep him on a Legends deal and make RVD t-shirts, figures, keep him in the video games...he's still a popular name and has the potential to draw money through merch.
We've had like 1 Elite and maybe 4 Basics from him? That's crazy considering all the colorful attires he's had over his career. Was in WWE 2k15 and then gone from 16 and 17. Back in 18 thankfully.

I always thought RVD's career has been so weird, He's always been well over, incredible in the ring, decent on the mic, and had a relateable and likeable personality multiple time champion, tag and singles, the face of ECW etc and a former wold champion, he should have been been allowed to reach his full potential in WWE, I feel he was just reaching it when they brought in ECW as a 3rd brand and everything went to crap.
There should be like a special concussions contract where guys like Daniel Bryan and now RVD can sign it wavering WWE's liability for any further concussions or concussion related issues. As long as they stick to WWE's current "no head shots" type rules around concussions, I dont see how that'd be an issue. Alternatively he could open up a "medical" centre and call it "Rolling" Thunder... I'd buy the t-shirt now, while I save for plane tickets...

As a publicly traded company, even if the individual would sign a waiver to protect the company from being liable for any further injury, it still makes the company look bad if they allow guys to potentially suffer life threatening injuries on their watch. "Oh, RVD and Daniel Bryan, you are not allowed to wrestle for us....unless you agree to not sue if something happens." You either care about the PERSON or you don't. I don't think here's any situation, legal or monetary, where it would be acceptable for WWE to send somebody out there to compete if the risk is too great based on pre-existing injuries. WWE has thankfully decided that regardless of how much money they could make from potential matches involving guys like Daniel Bryan, Sting and RVD, that it's not worth the real life health risk to the person involved.

He was my top 3 of all time. His outlook on life. The way he sold moves. His Moveset. The way he moved in the ring. He never really seemed to show his age IMO. It didn't hurt matters that he came to the ring in ECW to Walk and I'm a HUUUUUUUGE Pantera fan either. RVD for the 2018 HOF

Sucks to hear this, not just the concussion, but his divorce as well. I am a huge fan, one of the guys who I saw live multiple times and no matter if the cameras were there or not he gave you everything he had. Back during his early WWE run he was so over it was unreal. All these years later I still feel that if they had given him the title at No Mercy in 2001, even if it was just a couple of weeks and he dropped it back to Austin on RAW or SD before the Survivor Series, he would have become a real top tier guy.
