I think the Simmons figure would have been a lot better looking if they had used the Tatanka/Bluetista type torso.

I won’t complain, but I do think it is an odd torso choice.

I think it looks alright all things considered. I'm just pleased as punch they fixed his skin tone from his previous figures. Torso might be a little weird but it's a long overdue figure that I'm grateful is being made.
That said, bring on the Acolytes

That said, bring on the Acolytes We would get a repainted version of Simmons with the APA head, not much better. We live in a world where Tatanka is a muscular God and Ron Simmons is Kevin Garnett lanky lol.

Figure looks fine to me. I’m more bummed that basic 84 Rusev still has long hair

God this is overkill on the complaining for me. I genuinely like this figure. It’s not perfect but it’s a flashback of someone we do t have and it isn’t that bad. Its a collector based line, we have every right to complain when I pay £19.99 for a standard elite. Its people like you that leads to sub-par figures being released. You need to let designers know when they have gotten it wrong or else, who cares? The torso is terrible for Ron Simmons on this figure, Im in complete agreement with the initial post.

this is why i want to know what the actual process of making a figure is, how do they decide to use what parts. because there have been a million glaring mistakes on tons of figures over the years, and thats with them having the correct parts that would make a figure look more accurate, but they just choose not to or ignore it or whatever. i really want to know HOW this happens, it at least would ease my annoyance when i see things like this. i think its the fact that we dont know anything that makes it so much worse Exactly, how does Bill give the go ahead on these figures at times? Surely when he sees a prototype hes comparing pictures its based from and the obvious glaring mistakes they might have, in this case Simmons, torso. Its just not good enough, Im not happy in the slightest. These elites are going up in price big time, when I first collected from series 12 they were £12.99 in the UK...now they are £19.99 I mean thats a big increase in a relatively short period of time. We need to makesure Bill gets these complaints and answers for them.

Figure looks more like johnny b badd to me. Torso is definetly too small. I dont even care cause i dont want simmons so im not complaining, im just calling it as i see it They cant knock them all out of the park but i get the disapointment from simmons fans I held my phone out quickly to show a buddy the new photos and he was like "wait, is that Marc Mero?". It gave me pause. I had to be like "No, I thought k that's just the world's skinniest Ron Simmons". DAMN.

It's okay. Mattel can't be perfect all the time.

It's okay. Mattel can't be perfect all the time. Believe me I don't expect perfection. But in 2018, I do expect more efficient manufacturing process (not 8-12 months of development); I do expect with the salary Bill earns and business education he has that he's competent in balancing consumer and leader expectations, and has a level of accountability to what he produces, and I do expect him to give us the best quality for what we pay. I always hear what a fan he is and I really do want to believe that, but sometimes his final decisions leaves much to be desired - like these parts choices. This is not a personal attack on Bill so lower your lances fellas. I'm with Chip; I'd really like to know more about the process of designing a toy. Just how long does it take him to design a figure like Red Rooster really? He's a fan so he already knows what the figure looks like, he has built up a great inventory of parts, he knows the current prices for dyes, plastics, and manufacturing, and he's probably got Mattel Legal to go over the licensing paperwork with the talent and the WWE. So how much time does he spend manipulating parts to see how best they fit together, y'know like what I think a lead designer would do? Why did he think Terry Taylor shares the same torso as Razor Ramon? If attention-to-scale is a competitive differentiator to other wrestling figures/products, why is Nakamura's height equivalent to 6'8" in toy form? Aren't these the sort of things a lead designer should be resolving? Also, as Lead designer, it implies that you have at least one other person on your team - what was the group think around the final look of this Ron Simmons? Were there objections? Scope change? Ron Simmons is a one-and-done figure, so we're stuck with what it is, "which isn't that bad", because we love mediocrity.

Maybe MDT should start making different renders of 1 specific wrestler with different parts, torso, deco, etc. And we can all make a vote on which looks the best for retail. It'd be nice...

What about the Lesnar torso? It’s thick but not overly ripped like Ron was.

What about the Lesnar torso? It’s thick but not overly ripped like Ron was. this was my attempt a while back using that Lesnar/Jackson torso: Problem is that it's a very thick torso and requires wider trunks, which in turn needs thicker thighs/legs, which Mattel's Ron Simmons has none of. The best torso choice here has to be the DM 80s Hogans/Beefcake torso for the barrel chest and stockiness, but I think that still requires larger trunks which is fine because the real Ron Simmons was built like a tank. So we are left with the next best torsos: Legends Rock or modern Rock if you like it ripped, except we now have to pray that the skin tones match the Mattel Ron head in order to work. If SPREADSHEETS aren't a thing, I'd assume this is the kind of trial and error process Bill would have gone through to some extent. The formula was real simple for this one: New Ron Simmons sculpted head + Beefcake torso/arms + Farooq NOD legs/boots colour the tights purple and the boots white to reflect when he actually won the WCW title and you have a Seth Freakin' HOME RUN.

I'm happy that Mattel made Ron Simmons. Is it perfect? No but I'm still buying it when I see it. While y'all are moaning about Ron, I'm here wishing for a elite Surfer Sting that's not barrel chested. How people talk about parts inventory, sounds like you guys are using spreadsheets yourselves.

Seeing how most of the people here have suggested different torsos speaks volumes how difficult it can be for Bill and his team when it comes to choosing parts. Some will like it, some will hate it. Also, we honestly have no idea what factors go into choosing parts so...🤷🏻♂️ I hate using the “if you don’t like it don’t buy it” but, unfortunately, those are our options.

And yet the professionals decided that they would go with the thin Shaemus/Alberto torso, go figure. I'll still buy it because I want the belt and Ron Simmons is a guy I want in my collection and we're stuck with this...and barrell chested Surfer Sting.
