I got to meet Bruno in 2014 at a comic con in Philly. My brother and I got a photo op with him. Anyone who is familiar with how these work knows these are generally really quick. Hello, maybe a handshake, picture, leave. Bruno shook our hands, took the picture then would let us go. He started asking us if we were brothers, where we were from, ect. The photo op people tried to rush us along but Bruno was like “Hold on! I’m trying to have a conversation!”
I also got to be there when he was inducted into the HOF at MSG which was awesome.

On X Pacs podcast it is stated that he and David never made amends (does anyone know what happened?). And it was Vince Sr. he had problems with, not Jr. He didn't like the way the 90's product was which is why he separated himself from WWE, not because he had a problem with Jr.

Ok, found a line from an interview Bruno did in 1998, and he was asked about it: “When I refused to put on the tights again, my son never forgave me. He hasn’t spoken to me since. I resented that he didn’t understand.” So I guess it was actually the fact that David tried to get his dad to team with him again, and when Bruno didn't want that, the break occurred. I knew a big part of Bruno's disappearance from the company, was his disapproving of the direction of the product, but I always thought there was something with Vince as well.

From the interview it was because Sr said he was going to give Bruno points on Wrestlemania's and take care of him. When it was time to pay up, Sr didn't. So maybe Bruno was hoping Jr would. But the deal he made was with Sr.

But the deal he made was with Sr. Would Sr. have any kind of power to even make a promise like that, by the time WrestleMania came around? I know he remained around the company until he died, but he had sold the company to Jr. in 82, and was dead, almost a year before Mania 1.

I think the last night Vince Sr. was at a WWF show, was the night Hogan won the Title from the Sheik in MSG, which would have been January of 84.

Every site I go to I see the news about Bruno....Its so weird though cause it seems like its not real. Bruno is just one of those guys you kinda expect to always be there even at his age.

I was lucky enough to see the end of his career. Even at 50 + years old, he still looked legitimately dangerous, and he still got a strong reaction in the Rock 'N Wrestling Era. He was one of the first guys to have global appeal. R.I.P. Champ.

That last one made me cry. End of an era. It reminded me of my grandfather.

Maybe it's just me, but that video when Vince tells Bruno, welcome home, I could almost detect a slight sound of Vince almost choking up over the reunion finally happening. And Triple H should definitely have that as one of his proudest moments, behind the scenes, making it happen. And on Monday, I was walking back into my room, just as Raw started, and the 10 bell salute started. I stopped and just stood for it.

I highly enjoyed Bruno's assessment of Hulk Hogan:

He was the longest reigning champion of any of the true world titles from the birth of the national wrestling alliance to the day he drew his final breath. He was a tremendous grappler with an unshakable code of ethics, even when it did not serve to his benefit, and there is something to be eternally admired in that level of character. From 1963 to 1971 he carried one of the largest territories in wrestling on his shoulders and played a key role in shaping the Mecca of Professional Wrestling. The word "Tree" is derived from the word "Treow" which relates it back to the first root words in English for "truth" and directly influences the modern phrasing of being "morally upright." It's truly fitting that a man who embodied the idea of being "True like a tree" would become the hero of a generation by displaying that iron will from a place known as "THE Garden." He was a tree that provides an umbrella of influence which should be honored for as long as men lace their boots, for when the day comes that a champion of Bruno's ilk is unrecognizable to wrestling fans, then we are no longer wrestling fans at all.
Bruno Sammartino embodied the beauty of Professional Wrestling, in that he personified class, honor, and dedication to his craft. May his sense of virtue influence us all to be stronger than our lesser selves. May the torch he lit never go out, and may the shadow he cast forever be acknowledged.
Rest In Peace, Bruno Sammartino.

Beautifully said brother. Like I said above he and my Grandfather were Italian imagrents. My Grandfather came through Ellis island (along with my grandmother at a different time.) He loved Bruno so much. He use to sit me on his lap. Let me play with the race card (the ones you held the trigger for that would stay on a track) and point at Bruno all the time.
