Anyone who wants Jakks back should be embarrassed. Awful suggestion. Hang your head in shame.

Barbie won’t just go away. My niece and all her friends do nothing but play with barbies. I always see little girls in the doll aisles. They’re not selling like they used to, but it’s not as bad as you’re making it out to be. I don’t know why so many of you are constantly grasping at straws, trying to insist mattel is failing and are a god awful company. It’s as if you guys want them to tank, even though you pore hundreds of dollars into the line See I never said they didn't play with Dolls. Disney Princess (which Matty recently lost to hasbro) and Monster High (which matty still has) and generally speaking "fashion dolls" is still a big seller. But Barbie isn't what little girls are after now. It's all about monster high and to a lesser extent ever after high and descendants (disney license) and spirit and dc superhero girls etc Nor did i say Mattel was a horrible company. But barbie specifically is as bad as Im making it out to be. As long as Mattel is making money, it doesn't matter.

Hopefully they just stick with making retro figures only an drop the licenses back to jakks for everything else I was thinking the same but since series 3 Retros have took a big hit Superstar wise. I used to buy two of each Retro that comes out but starting with series 4 I've only bought one on each (MOC and open). The jump of price at retail just for a mobile game stand is RIDICULOUS. Whoever took over after series 2 has dropped the ball big time on this series. All I buy anymore is Retro figures, and with the superstar decisions and price point, it has me thinking twice about this series sadly.

Mattel is failing miserably because of those pesky Jakks UFC figures that outsell WWE Mattel 3 to 1, and have pushed Mattel WWE out of several retailers due to lack of interest; and UFC Mark Coleman was voted the single most successful action figure in toy history from a sales standpoint.

true. I just can't see them concerning themselves with what would almost certainly be an afterthought to them. Seriously? An afterthought? The WWE line is the best selling action figure line of 2017, hardly an afterthought lol No, Jakks UFC was the best selling action figure line of 2017 for the 8th year in a row Jakks UFC N American Sales Month-# of Figures SoldJan-0 Feb-200,000 Mar-300,000 Apr-300,000 May-300,000 Jun-167,000 Jul-1,000,000 Aug-0 Sep-100,000 Oct-120,000 Nov-875,000 Dec-610,000

I pray Mattel doesn't lose the license any time soon. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't have it in me to start over again. I'm not going to pretend like I know the numbers, or how their year was or any of that. I just hope they are doing well so this line will continue.

I've seen a few articles on-line saying that Mattel's WWE Line was to top selling Action Figure Line in the U.S. in 2017. Would you happen to have figure sales for WWE Mattel like you have for Jakks UFC to compare?

Mattel has hit a wall. You can only produce so many of the same figure regardless if tights/trunks color is different. Personally Id want people excited for my product at all times. As a Flashback collector I havent even cared about any figures since what, January when the Walmart line came out. That's 6 months of my money that Mattel could have chipped into but instead, nothing but crickets.

Mattel ain't going nowhere. Chill-ax. I'm pretty sure WWE/Mattel were the top selling figures of last year. Yes, TRU closing is going to hurt. But it's going to hurt every toy line for every company. But they'll survive and I would be willing to bet WWE & Mattel will be working together MANY more years.
It's a dumb suspicion thread made without any facts. We should know by now that the OP does this constantly. And the fact that this has lasted this long shows how easily people get all worked up over squat. Boy, this thread got laced with stupid really quick. I think it started off stupid actually Yeah, IMO he struck out before he even got to the plate.

I had a good January with the Flashback Elites and basics. Since then, I was happy to get Fan Central Heenan, WM9 Beefcake, and Gamestop Macho. Now I'm waiting on the new Andre lol.

With the death of toy retail, I don't know why Mattel doesn't just go direct to customer? It's a niche and specialty item that is easily justified to cut out the middleman and just sell to consumer, especially how many toy lines are geared toward adult collectors more now than ever.

I'd hardly call WWE niche, it's the highest selling action figure line in 2017, hardly niche Classify it as you wish, but with major distributors like TRU closing, access to the products is decreasing, which will hurt overall sales. Wrestling action figures are highly specialized, especially with lines like HOF or DM (unlike products like Hot Wheels or Barbie). I still stand to say that a direct to customer approach for WWE Mattel would mutually benefit Mattel (by increasing margins and reducing middleman) and the customer (direct access, sooner availability).

Hall of Fame and Defining Moments don't exist anymore. Yes, retail demand for the figures will have dropped with the closure of tru, but they'll go elsewhere. Wrestling figures are far from highly specialised, come on, my 6 year old has about 80, go to flea markets and second hand sales and you can regularly buy them for £1 each, it's not niche
