Only recently got hold of the Demolition legends series.
Took me a while and probably my favourites. It's nice knowing sometimes that something isn't going to be crazy mass produced

Well there goes my hopes of a Pink Attire Rick Martel elite, Maybe we can get an Uncle Elmer figure since Hillbilly Jim is on a contract? Uncle Elmer probably wouldn't sell though, would still be cool though

It would of been cool to get One Man Gang. I hope we can still get a Demolition Mr Fuji with suit, cane and hat at some point.

With all due respect to the original question, I still think we should be focusing more on trying to get first in line legends made. It sucks that figures like Demo have skyrocketed in value for people that missed out, but I'd so much more like to see the Greg Valentines of the world come to light rather than a second version of anything we already had.

I would buy a Bundy (especially if it had a molded singlet) and a HBJ. The rest I already own.
I'm sure he would love to get his hands on many of the names people are asking for. If he could I'm sure he would. But with lawsuits and lawyers involved, there is only so much one can do. I think people unfairly blame him for things out of his control.
That being said, I like the fact he just flat out answered the question. It gives us an idea of what to expect and prevents anyone from getting their hopes up. Nothing wrong with more transparency.

Rick Martel is on good terms and Hillblly Jim is since the tweet says that, everyone else Da Handsome 1 mentioned is on the concussion lawsuit Just curious, but how do you know that he is on good terms and if he is then why doesn't WWE sign him to a legends deal?! There is demand for another Rick Martel figure and before anyone says re-release I am not looking for a re-release but either another Model Martel in a different attire or a Strike Force Martel. It has been mentioned before (I believe by Bill) that WWE has signed some guys- Boogeyman and Tatanka are two, specifically so they can make figures of them so why can' they do the same with Martel?! Yes, I am shocked that he actually answered a question directly, he usually doesn't give a direct answer most likely because his bosses won't allow him to. Of course in this instance he didn't really tell us something that isn't already known- several of the guys mentioned are involved in the lawsuit and Hillbilly Jim was just inducted in the HOF, this leaves Rick Martel as the only real unknown. Mr. Handsome, I think you should try your luck a second time and ask him again about other legends but this time ask about guys whom they haven't made a figure of like Haku, Hercules, Billy Graham. He probably won't answer that question but you never know?!

It just really sucks that Mattel absolutely will not sign guys on their own any more (they definitely did for a few early in the line ... I'm 90 percent sure Warrior and Bret were signed separately outside of Legends deals, Bill had talked about it before back in the day). Maybe Mattel lost a lot of money on that or something, but I've posted about it before and there's no way around it from a collecting standpoint -- it sucks. Maybe WWE has since stepped in and issued this edict or whatever because they want control over what comes out (as if they didn't have enough already, it's not like Mattel is going to release figures without their final approval) but I wish there was a way we could convince Bill and Mattel to change their ways and sign people themselves. Legends contracts pay diddly squat for the most part, so there isn't a ton of incentive for a lot of older wrestlers to sign them, which as a byproduct disappoints us collectors.
Mattel is one of the absolute leading revenue toy companies in the world, if not at the very top, and they should be able to spend a little money so we don't get the same old legends in repaints time and time and time again. If Jakks -- a much, much smaller company -- could afford it, Mattel sure as heck can.

If Jakks -- a much, much smaller company -- could afford it, Mattel sure as heck can. I don’t think Bret would have an exclusive deal with Mattel.hes been on good terms with WWE for a while. Warrior may have had a deal seperate with Mattel to make his own figures like the 1 of 5 or 15s he had. I would think it’s more beneficial for the older guys to sign the legends deal because they weren’t making a lot of money back then. From the way bill made it sound, he gives wwe a list of who he wants to make. They go forth and either tell him the guy is signed, they try and sign them or it’s just off limits. Maybe the WWE signs them to like how Jakks did. It’s per say a 2 year contract. Then it’s Mattel’s job to get the figure out in that time. I wish there was a way to figure out how it really works and the fine details but sadly it’s nothing but all of us speculating

Legends contracts pay diddly squat for the most part, so there isn't a ton of incentive for a lot of older wrestlers to sign them, which as a byproduct disappoints us collectors. You can add Macho Man to that list, he was not on good terms with WWE so no way he signed a legends deal back in 2010. I also suspect, Bundy, Martel & Demolition may have signed with Mattel as well back then. I think the failure of the legends line and WWE adding in a stipulation during the last renewal that they can only make figures of wrestlers that WWE has under contract, may be the reasons why Mattel won't sign anyone anymore. If these legends deals pay peanuts then I don't blame the legends for not signing. I think aside from the money, another reason why legends may not want to sign is due to restrictions that might be placed on them as far as not being able to do autograph signings not sanctioned by WWE or attend indie events, fan conventions, etc. Recall also the situation with Mick Foley, a year or so ago he did not want to re-sign because something in the contract was not to his liking. I suspect due to his popularity WWE agreed to whatever change Mick wanted but that would never happen with other less popular legends.

I wish there was a way to figure out how it really works and the fine details but sadly it’s nothing but all of us speculating Maybe I'll be able to find the interview sometime but I 100 percent remember an interview posted on here from Ringside with Bill where he said that Bret was a difficult negotiation and that it took a while, they had to really bend to get him to agree. That sure sounds like something separate to me. And yeah like CDNMadness said, there are things about the legends deal that we may not know about that may not be great. From what I know, it's $10,000 but it comes with some possible restrictions (and, for example, they may have first dibs on say like a Wrestlemania Axxess appearance, where maybe wrestlers could make a lot more at WrestleCon, etc. ... and it's also signing over your name/rights, which is seen as a big deal to a lot of these guys). If it was such a great deal, you could bet every old-timer would sign it immediately. Foley called WWE out for it a couple of years ago (https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2014/4/23/5643314/mick-foley-wont-renew-his-wwe-legends-contract) and Edge, who's known for being mild-mannered and intelligent, came out as not a fan of the Legends contracts at all, same with Bret. Also here's a direct quote from a WrestlingInc article regarding an interview Scott Steiner did with Ringside themselves in 2014: During an interview with Ringside Collectibles, "Big Poppa Pump" was asked if there's any chance of him signing a WWE Legends deal—it enables WWE to create new merchandise in the talent's likeness, with the talent being compensated. "Well, I've been asked for a Legends contract," said Steiner. "Unfortunately, my lawyer explained to me that it's not worth the paper it's written on." So as much as we all want these guys to sign legends contracts so we can get figures, the Legends contract is not all positive. Which makes it suck even more that Mattel is not willing to sign guys on their own.
