So lately there’s been a rumor going around that Mattel could possibly be going out of business its not official and if the news is true it won’t be for a while. For the past 5 years they’re share price has fallen 71% and in 1 year decreased 43%. They have lost about $630,000,000 which IS better than they expected. Also, another company offered and wanted to buy Mattel but they didn’t accept it. Mattel stated that as of current no brand will be taking over. Some sets including The Ultimate Deletion set and others have been canceled/deleted. Stores including Walmart, Target and others have been lowing the prices for there WWE figures and other mattel toys. Again its not official but its a rumor I certainly hope Mattel doesn’t go out of business as I am a huge collector myself. Anyways if this is true what does it mean for WWE Action Figures? I mean, I hate seeing companies shut down and people losing their jobs, but I think Mattel has put out such a sub par product the past couple of years across all their lines that I can't say I'd be too upset to see some of their IPs land with other companies. Sure they've had some cool things buried deep within all the disappointment, but in my opinion it wasn't enough to offset it.

“With close to $4 billion in debt at an average interest rate of 6.58% (as of March 2019), a staggering 42% in operating expenses, and a major legal liability for having sold a faulty Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper for years even as multiple baby fatalities occurred, there is simply too much mess to clean up at Mattel,”
Mattel shares have sunk 34.5% over the past year, but have gained nearly 14.2% for the year to date. The S&P 500 index SPX-0.13% is up 16.7% for 2019 so far.
All I know is if Mattel doesn't make the figures then someone else will. Maybe Hasbro, who knows? But it's too much of a gold mine for any toy company to pass up.
They should have sold out to MGAE when they had the chance. It's better than going bankrupt which I do believe will happen.

If they start REALLY start kissing up to a certain person, maybe they can get a fed government bailout perhaps...

I have said it before and I will say it again, bring on hasbro !!
I have been able to buy 2 full sets of new marvel legends recently while there has been nothing new at my local walmart and target for a month or two.
Also the marvel legends that I bought sets of got restocked 3-4 days later.
Hasbro brings quality and most importantly availability. So I can actually go into a store and buy something.

It’d be kinda weird for the WWE of toys to go out of business like ECW did

And it doesn't look like that's going to change much any time soon. Mattel is planning to cut more than $650m in costs by the end of this year. Which could mean the cancelation of some of our favorite lines such as Ultimate Edition and Retros. Maybe more.

If Hasbro took over, they could do what LJN didwith the young bucks and bring back the Real Hasbro figures. It be a dream come true.

If only Mattel had made a Greg Valentine, all their finical issues would be gone!
Seriously, I highly doubt it. But IF Mattel stops making WWE elites, I'm done collecting. Because IMO I'm enjoying collecting now more than ever. And Hasbro, LJN, Jakks, all fail in comparison. **** that.

With the streak Hasbro has been on the past few years, I have no doubt they'd surpass Mattel easily, and it's not like they would just make figures like the old Hasbro line. Hell, their face printing alone is on a whole other level compared to Mattel, not to mention their quality and articulation scheme. Mattel figures feel like figures from before the Toy Biz era. I truly believe that the WWE license getting away from Mattel and going to Hasbro would be the best thing to happen to it since Mattel's initial efforts. Only issue is they would most likely be 1/12 scale and thus not really compatible with the current figures. But that always happens when a new company gets the license.

Especially since Hasbro's big sellers are all 1/12.

Technically, if Hasbro or someone else took over you really would have no idea how their figures would be. They could be 100x better than Mattel. Who knows?

that article is from January.. Also, these stores clearance toys out at this same time every year.
Threads like this are exactly how dumb rumors like this start on here. One person makes a post about it, 40 other dimwits believe it and as their own twist it and bam.. it becomes fact on here, just like the idiotic spreadsheets thing that one user pushed until it caught on.
Also, where the hell does one hear a “rumor” about a world wide toy conglomerate going out of business?

Bigger or smaller? I can't download pics, but a good comparison would be the 3 Ringside Collectibles exclusive Hulk Hogan figures they did with Storm Collectibles. Those are all 1/12 scale. Roughly the same height, but bigger heads, arms, and bodies. Maybe "thicker" would be the right word.
