What's the biggest mistake you ever made collecting? Was it selling your collection to help pay bills? Was it passing on a figure? Was it overcollecting?
For me it's a tie between passing on the Elite Miss Elizabeth at a target because I wasn't yet collecting but thought it looked awesome and not buying the Elite 38 Macho Man that I saw a month ago at some store that I can't remember to go back to. Didn't want it then but now that the Slim Jim Randy was announced I need it to customize it I know it was a drug store but I can't remember which one and where. I've traveled so much in the last month that I'd literally have to drive 3 hours out of the way to start retracing my steps for it.

Not buying more Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, and Terry Funk figures when they were dirt cheap for customs.

Yea passing on literally tons of extra Mattel legends at big lots for $8. No joke at this point I could have paid for my wedding if I sold all those now on eBay.

WWE Figures - Not buying some CM Punk Elites when they came out, especially the All Stars. Just need that, Elite 29 & BoPPV. - Not buying the Elite 12 Kane when it came out, and once again not getting the HOC Kane when it came out. - Not collecting from 2012 - 2017, the only figures i bought during that time were CM Punk figures & the odd Elite of who i liked (E27 RVD, E23 Cesaro & First Elite Shield) - Not buying the Elite 8 Edge - Passing on the Elite 7 DX & Hart Dynasty when i saw them in Kmart in 2010. - Most recently, opening my MOC E66 Harper for the headscan, then buying another MOC one to replace it but the head is almost turned 90 degrees in the box, doesn't look that great.
Non WWE figures - Not buying the Hot Toys Terminator (T1) when it was going for about $200-$300, now i can't even find one brand new and all the 'Great condition' ones are $500+ - Not buying certain DBZ S.H Figuarts when they came out, now it's hard to find the ones i want but when i do, they're $100+ - Letting a 'friend' borrow my DBZ Jakks & Irwin figures when i was 7. You'd think i'd learn my lesson after i didn't get the first 2 back, but i was stupid.

I once sold a complete AWA Remco collection at a yard sale for $10.
This was in about 1993 when I was about 9 years old. A relative who outgrew them had given them to me knowing that I liked wrestling. Being unfamiliar with the line as well as the AWA, I assumed that they were dollar store bootlegs. I recognized Flair and the Road Warriors, so I kept those and sold the rest. Years later, I recognized them online - Nord the Barbarian, Boriz Zukhov, the Midnight Rockers, they had all been there, with accessories.

I regret at times the fact that I started collecting wrestling figures. It's such an addictive, slippery slope.

Not sure it's a blunder so much as a regret, but I wish I started collecting sooner. I started in 2015, and it's been such an enjoyable hobby. But I hadn't watched ten seconds of wrestling from about 2002-2014, so I don't think there was anything that could have really changed when I jumped in.
Otherwise, my biggest mistake was only focusing on releases that were available in store when I started collecting. I decided to only collect what I could find in store and through Amazon and RSC. I was trying to keep my collection small and cheap, and decided not to mess with older figures like the Legends line on ebay. Besides, it seemed like most guys (Bulldog, Pillman, Austin, Funk, DDP) were getting re-releases right around that time, so I figured my wants like LOD, Rockers, Martel, etc would be in line for new figures too. Obviously I was very wrong, and could have saved some cash buying then compared to the prices I paid more recently. Live and learn.

Not collecting sooner lol.
Or, while in the early stages of collecting, passing on the AJ Styles Network Spotlight when I saw quite a few of them at TRU. I didn’t have any knowledge of how distribution worked or anything like that, so I figured it would just buy it at a later time. Which, yeah I did, a lot later and on the Internet for way more money than retail.

Passing on figures, holding out for a cheaper price or me just being cheap. Back in 2014: I could’ve had WM 14 HBK elite figure for 40-50$ but, no I passed on it. Could’ve had E22 The Giant for 12-18$. Nope I was just being cheap & passed on it.

I'm an MOC collector so my biggest blunder would be impulse buying MOC figures that weren't in the best shape just to have them in my collection.
I recently let some of the more beat up or common ones breathe.

Buying Legends 1 Animal but not Hawk. I was only ten and my only memories of LOD were LOD 2005 and Animal feuding with Matt Hardy

Getting divorced.
Seriously, my ex-wife had a bus driving brother who scoped out figures every chance he could.
I'll show myself out now.

When Mattel first got the license I decided to focus more on Basics and less on Elites. Mostly because Basics came out faster and you had Battle Packs. But there were times I bought Elites only for their accessories. It was getting costly, so I found a customizer on here who was looking to buy figures for orders. I sold him a bunch of Elites for a very fair price. Since then, I've switched my whole collection over to Elites. And unfortunately for me, some of the figures I sold him cost far too much to track down. Elites like Finlay, Cryme Tyme, & Even Bourne just to name a few. I could kick myself now.
Then about two months ago I was at a toy show in Pittsburgh with some friends. I found someone selling a loose Elite Finlay with a Hornswoggle for 15. It didn't have the jacket, but I still have mine, so no issue. Then once I got in the car and my friend was driving away, I noticed the Finlay had really bad scratched paint on his leg. Then when I got home, I realized the SOB didn't have the clover logo either. Far too piss poor for me to display. So my hunt for an Elite Finlay still eludes me.
