After the SDCC reveals this weekend, the mind boggling character choices of the doomed Ultimate Edition line continues. The line itself is a good idea, in my opinion, but like many others that we’ve seen over the years (Legends, Defining Moments, Retros, etc.), the character and attire choices are the reason this thing will end up like their aforementioned peers - DEAD.
With that said, I wanted to post a poll for two reasons. The first is to ask the collectors on here which UE figures they would like to see released the most. The second is to demonstrate how many better choices there are than what we’ve gotten so far. I know that Mattel has this self imposed rule of “one legend and one current superstar” per series but who ever said that was a good idea? When those ‘current superstar’ slots are wasted on figures that could very easily find a home in the Elite line (Lesnar, Nakamura, Triple H, Bret even), doesn’t someone over there think, “Hmm, maybe we need to rethink this approach before it’s too late for this line as well.” At the price point that Mattel has set for this line anyway, I doubt child collectors of modern wrestlers should be Mattel’s target demo (then again, maybe it is and that’s just another example of why Mattel is in the position that it’s in, financially), but I digress..

Maybe I am in the minority, but other than Nakamura who in theory is a good choice cause of the accessories and look, but is a bad choice due to the amount of figures they have covered in a short time and his place in the company. I honestly have thought they have all been decent choices. I also assume after Flair, that Macho and Austin are the next two legends after that. I mean they are all logical choices from a popularity standpoint. I know people wanna bitch about Brock but honestly his figures seem to sell really well no matter what line, and he is very over with fan base outside of the internet.

I also can honestly say that if I came up with a list of legends and specific attires that I wanted, none outside of maybe Hogan would be on the list. $30 for a Jeff Jarrett? Never! You wanna predict the death of the line, put out Jeff Jarrett at a premium price.

An early 90's Hogan is ahead of Hollywood on my Hogan want list. But I can honestly see myself buying any legend EM they make. I've been less impressed with the modern choices, but I'm willing to wait and see how things play out.
Unless they get in-store retail distribution, this line is DOA regardless of the character selection.

I voted for "Other" so I could nominate nWo Hogan since his reveal a few years ago he's the one big glaring omission that people are going ape for. I think that it would be a good chance for Mattel to catch up to and surpass the Storm Collectibles Hogan, especially in the multiple head variants department. For a figure like that you want something to really pop with detail and accessories, especially with the Defining Moments line dead. Give him a hand so he can hold the belt like a guitar and strum it. I'm on board with what you said Hollywood Hogan would be a great choice because of the accessories and heads they could put with him but I really hate that torso they use on the UE.

Was it ever mentioned whether or not these were going to hit retail? If they do I can picture it now, 7 or 8 Nakamura's sitting on the shelves fpr months. Much like the EG Goldbergs. Too expensive for kids, and collectors just dont want them.
If this line survives for awhile I'd love to see a Macho King, surfer Sting, and any Hogan. Also maybe a surprise Legend that we haven't seen in awhile like Ricky Steamboat or Jake Roberts.

The whole concept of this thread is a bit flawed, since I’d argue of the choices so far, the only one that is debatable is Nakamura, and that has more to do with the fact that WWE’s booking of him has been horrendous since his main event run (which is likely when he was chosen for this spot) and there’s been too many Nak dogs during this period.
As far as the choices, my vote goes to HBK. To be honest, I wish they had gone with a 95/96 HBK instead of the Screwjob.

Ric Flair. With two different heads -- the short hair 90's version and a vintage one.

A redo of a past released figure... Sting GAB ‘90 Soft goods Entrance Jacket World title 4 heads - (New sculpt) GAB ‘90 Fully painted GAB ‘90 post match (face paint almost gone) War Game ‘91 face paint And finally this one. Although I forget the PPV it was from I would buy at least four to display each head. Four different surfer Sting matches in one figure.

I haven’t liked any of the choices so far up through series 5 so I don’t buy these. But I would love Jeff Jarrett, Hollywood hogan, macho man, surfer sting, Buff Bagwell, Steve mcmichael, Raven, disco inferno, Zeus, etc
