Do you really think if she's pushing for unionization that any company would really want to risk bringing her in? Could she go elsewhere if she stops pushing the union thing, sure. But if that her sole intention, nobody will hire her. I know AEW is the saving grace of life on earth, but you seen how quickly Cody backtracked a year ago when he mentioned unions. That is because it's not something any company wants.

Paige is probably next if the tweet was the actual reason.

AEW and Impact both allow their wrestlers to function as true independent contractors - they are freely able to take outside bookings, generate third party income, etc. You're going to find a lot less appetite for unionization in a company where talent feel that they are treated fairly and within the scope of the law. I think this is very much a WWE-specific issue right now. Is it something AEW would want to deal with? No. But I'd argue if you're treating employees fairly and compensating them appropriately, it's not something you will deal with.

Thus why I said "Could she go elsewhere if she stops pushing the union thing, sure" Of course. But the unionization conversation she and Paige have been pushing 100% trace back to Twitch. Three months ago, I doubt there was any thought given to unions until WWE took away their (apparently super lucrative) side hustle. I do think her "going away" tweet is at least trying to set the stage for wrongful termination, even though there's a pretty slim chance it's successful.

She's not gonna get a union in wrestling any time soon but I feel this is has more to do with the third party deals than anything. I hope they change that up soon.
Nonetheless, I hope she gets a deal with another promotion. I could see her in Impact again working in the new Knockouts Tag division but I could also see her making an appearance or two in AEW, though I'd hope they got their act together regarding the women's division there.

She didn't get fired due to that tweet, she clearly knew that she was gone when she made it. Vega is fairly talented, hopefully she get a chance to be a top heel manager somewhere before too long.

I'm not even sure how a wrestlers union would work? If it would be more expensive for a company to hire union talent, couldn't they just use non-union talent? What about "right to work states"? If somehow all the wrestling companies were forced to use union talent, how many of those companies would just fold up shop? ROH and Impact are "cheap" programing for Sinclair & Anthem. If those programs are no longer viewed as "cheap" because of the increased cost, would Sinclair and Anthem keep them around?

I’m a huge Zelina Vega fan although I’m going to side with the wwe on this one. I think the whole ‘building your own brand’ is a double edged sword.

That came out of nowhere. Hope Black doesn't follow. Why? They’re not doing much with him anyway! Another wasted talent. Good for Thea(her real name) for standing up for her rights and getting released from prison.

Guessing Al's new gimmick will involve getting put thru the announce table... You bastard. I started drinking my coke when I clicked "Page 2" and read that before I swallowed. I laughed coke out of my nose. It burns. My eyes are watering. My girlfriend is in the other room and asked what was wrong? I told her, "nothing." Hahaha.

Lol WWE posted a job ad for a twitch expert to help them with their own twitch channel. I don't know that Zelina will be the only release coming. Could be an interesting next few weeks. Or everyone else just agrees to it who knows.

To be fair, LA Times posted the essentially same thing before me. So really, he deserves some of the blame lol

She had more talent than what they allowed her to do, at this point if I’m Aleister I’m asking for my release too. What do you have to lose? You’re not on TV, your wife just got fired, and you would do wonders for any other promotion. He should, because if Zelina shows up in AEW, lars Sullivan will be slamming alistair black through a table every Friday night. Don’t tease the idea of stealing Lana’s gimmick, any other person going through that table every week just wouldn’t bring me the same joy.

She can just go to another promotion and become Zelina Bison.

I love Vega even more for this.
It seems she's the only one to stand up against these new "3rd party" restrictions. As an "independent" wrestler, shes got more balls than the others who just went ahead and shut down their streaming channels.

Apparently Black also wanted to go back to NXT but it was denied. I can’t see him renewing his contract and I can see him possibly purposely siding with Vega in an attempt to get fired
