whoa careful, might get that comment deleted! i don’t even remember what exactly i said, but mine was deleted for saying parenting is a 24/7 job. at least he’s able to rewrite what he already said in here to make himself sound better than he did It looks like it was any posts related to the original statements that flipping figures for a profit should be deemed a capital offense. But since we're on the subject, my kid is my favorite customer to flip my old figures to. He basically gets anyone I upgrade, so he's got a weird mish-mash of Matt Hardy, John Cena, and Edge running around. He'll be picking up an old Sasha Banks as soon as my new E83 one comes in...right around the time my Ricky Steamboat Elite should be coming in, too. So wait, you live in your mom’s basement and have a kid? Sounds like flipping figures isn’t the best business. Neither is 20,000 posts on a toy forum, especially when you have kids.

Is it weak to wipe out stock on a product to make only $9 or so profits? Sure but who is anyone to judge someone else for doing it? Collecting is always supply and demand. Always has been always will be across all platforms. When I was a kid I never found a Starting Lineup of Shaq, Iverson, or Kobe in a store. Found lots of ones I never cared about though. People act like resellers are new when they have always been there for any collectible medium. It's just gotten easier with the internet but its always existed. If someone wants to take that time, effort, and upfront cost to maybe make $9 then more power to em. Yep. There's always a chance that they're gonna wind up sitting on whatever it is they scooped up. It's like a much more risk averse stock market - a great majority of it can be chalked up to speculation and perception of human behavior. It looks like it was any posts related to the original statements that flipping figures for a profit should be deemed a capital offense. But since we're on the subject, my kid is my favorite customer to flip my old figures to. Projection is at least a better look than the school-shooter tendencies you were displaying out of the gate. It's not much, but it's a start. You'll get there.

Buying up all of something that is brand new and charging people above MSRP is what I find scummy. If you're charging a higher price for something that has been discontinued, or out of production for a while then that's different. Just my two cents. doesn’t even need to be something older in my opinion. if i stumble across something that i know is harder to find but i personally have no interest in, i’ll pick it up to MAYBE sell/use as trade bait someday. that’s what i did with the greg valentine legends figure. thing is, it’s just still sitting in my room because i have no real need to get rid of. realistically i pretty much bought it because i saw it and thought “oh cool, i found it. might as well grab it” however, buying ALL of the new stuff is indeed a scummy move I almost did the exact same thing when I found chase valentine and chase rude together at target.. almost picked them up because I found them even tho I had no desire to own them lol..

Haha, whoops. I could always sell him to break even, but it'd still be a loss once I got hit with the shipping and the fees and all that. I've still lost less buying figures to sell than I did on GameStop.

I'm very hard pressed right now to think of a hobby where some type of secondary market/scalping/artificial scarcity doesn't exist. I'm sure they must exist, but I can't think of them. I feel like board games are a little better when it comes to scalping, as in, someone buying up stock and forcing people to the secondary market. A lot of the hot items are produced via Kickstarter, so pre-ordering extra copies doesn't take away from anyone, it just leads to more being produced. That being said, those extra copies still go right to eBay, where folks who missed the month-long pre-order window have to pay double for the item. But it feels less scummy, somehow. Slightly.

It def takes the fun out of something when someone purposely gets all of them to hoard or upcharge. No problem with hunting or paying a slight premium but when target gi Joe classified are being sold for $70-80 because no one can get them anywhere. That’s lame and ridiculous

In mid/south Ohio we have two major Flea Market shops that go and clear out stores when they stock and then up sell them. I work second to third shift essentially so it’s hard for me to hit stores when they open, so I miss out on new stuff a lot. It can suck, but at the same time I buy from them if it’s something I need. I also over pay on Ringside and second hand apps. Just the nature of the game. Not defending scalpers but understand it especially given the world how it is right now. Also doesn’t mean they don’t have “real jobs”. Literally anything where you make profit enough to pay your bills is a real job.

Anyone defending someone for purchasing a large stock of a product to resell it for minimal profit just to ruin something for someone else isn’t worth arguing with. How would a rational person react to someone going into the supermarket, buying all the cheese and then attempting to resell it for .35 cents more. Most if not all people would mock and ridicule that so my assumption is the people who say “derp it’s just toys” or “wow can’t believe people get so mad” on a toy forum, are scalpers themselves or their mommies didn’t pay enough attention to them growing up

Going to gas stations and taking loose change from the take a penny cup or digging through trash for loose bottles are not “real jobs”. As isnt scalping retail stores for dolls

I mean, I've seen him pop up on Amazon like 4 times now and I'm not even wanting or searching forbit. Im not a fan of scalping but you gotta do some of your own leg work too.

Selling toys higher than you bought them doesn’t ruin anyone’s life.

Keeping digging in the trash while I work my “real” fake job

You can shame scalpers all you want and it won't stop them from scalping. People scalp everything from collectables, ammo, and even toilet paper. I don't condone it but it's part of the game. You just need a new game plan, if not just pay the prices or miss out.
