This sh!# just makes me want to stop collecting, and find a new hobby. I've been trying to get a Steamboat elite since Mattel got the license (never got a Jakks Steamboat). Preferably one in white tights, and without ink smudges from his robe.

Man you should really chill. Those prices mean the seller is making a whopping $10 - $12 on that figure after the fees and shipping costs.
You act as though u are being upcharged hundreds when ur losing your mind over $10

I refuse to give them any extra money for being useless globs of cells who flip action figures because they’re too dumb to be useful members in society.

Upfront sure it's more than double on paper. Free shipping means $7 - $8 out of sellers pocket. Now $44 is $37. EBay fees take another $6 between item and shipping. $37 is now $31. Figure cost is $19.99 before tax. Add tax figure cost is now $21.26. $31 - $21.26 = $9.74 profit. So you have that person's time and costs to package the item and then get it to the post office in that $9.74. So when u look at the math you are not being overcharged anywhere near what you think.

a new figure going for higher than retail prices? never seen that before...
its just too bad that so many people NEED to get new figures first. thats a huge part of what drives up the price. the sellers know that they can get more money off of whiny billy because he'll just wither up and die if he isn't one of the first 5 people to get a newly released figure

Nobody is asking for their time to Prime items that would have sold otherwise, so they can up charge, repackage and ship when Amazon does everything much more efficiently. Thanks for taking into account how much time and energy they waste just to make a few bucks. Pathetic individuals.

I understand all that very well, I sell on Ebay too. My point is that how much profit the seller makes is irrelevent to why people are against scalping. They are against it because it makes it harder for collectors to get the figures they want, not because they don't want the seller to make money.

A lot of the blame should go to the people who are actually willing to pay these prices. 2 weeks ago I saw a DoD Kane on ebay and people were bidding over $300 for it. And it was set to be released less than a week later. So yeah, more blame goes towards the people willing to dish out that kind of money for a figure. You know what they say, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I can see both sides of the scalping debate. I do think it unquestionably makes the hobby worse for collectors. There are levels to everything though. If I saw a ultra valuable figure that I already owned in the store for cheap, I would probably buy it and sell it online. So, I can't fully condemn people for doing the same thing on a much larger scale.

I should have known; if scalpers weren’t allowed to scalp, many of the people on the forum would have to get real jobs. My bad, guys. What’s your mom’s address so I can make sure you receive my money??

Who are these people paying these prices?

Some people here think they are 😄 seriously. being here for as long as i have, i can honestly say that the past year has shown how toxic people can get over a hobby. not to say it wasn't a toxic hobby before, but holy things got brought to a new level So awful anyone would criticize precious scalpers 🥺

What’s your mom’s address so I can make sure you receive my money?? LOL. yes, we're alllll scalpers here because you've gone overboard with your whining. shucks, guess i shouldn't go into my 50hr/week cooking job anymore because of the zero dollars i've made selling figures online(that means i don't sell figures online...i'm guessing you wouldn't have been able to piece that together on your own). maybe you should start scalping figures. then you could use your several dollar profit to fund your addiction seriously. being here for as long as i have, i can honestly say that the past year has shown how toxic people can get over a hobby. not to say it wasn't a toxic hobby before, but holy things got brought to a new level So awful anyone would criticize precious scalpers 🥺 hey, you're the one complaining because you aren't patient enough to wait a little longer for a figure that JUST came out. that's where the toxicity comes in. the mindset of "i need it now now NOW NOWWWWWW!"

The idea that scalpers "have no lives" or "need to get a job" is hilarious to me. It literally takes 2-3 minutes to set up an eBay posting these days.

Most of us here are not scalpers. Some are sure but the majority are hardcore collectors.

Who are these people paying these prices? eBay doesn't charge listing fees for the first 200 items a month. So there's no risk putting up figures for stupid prices if it only takes one person to bite.

Buying up all of something that is brand new and charging people above MSRP is what I find scummy.
If you're charging a higher price for something that has been discontinued, or out of production for a while then that's different.
Just my two cents.
