The real dream match that we never got was Sting vs Shawn Micheals!
Two high-energy guys with great characters and charisma. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Never wanted it & genuinely never seen the appeal of it.
When Sting came in it was how I always wanted it..rescuing folks from some injustice or another. But after a promising start they murdered it in cold blood 1000 times this. I never could wrap my head around the reason people wanted this. Why? because they both wore black? Whoopie! They're in ring styles dont mesh at all. Cinamatic style I guess would be ok but at that point...whats the point. You dont want to see a match..you want to see a film. It was because both guys were THE loyal guys of their company. Both amazing workers, both great gimmicks and both masters at reinventing themselves. Their career paths basically followed the same highs and lows simultaneously. And both around that 2014 period were really the only two major stars still active from the Monday night wars.

Never happened because they couldn't let Sting beat him.

Only time they could have done it was WrestleMania 31, but it wouldn’t have made sense at all. Plus, they were giving the run to Wyatt of being Taker’s return match. While Sting was playing vigilante to The Authority at that time too.
Creatively, it just wasn’t there.

They can still have a Royal Rumble moment, but it needs to happen within the next 1-3 years so it is as cool as when Piper/Snuka showed up (but not as bad as what Piper/Snuka were actually able to deliver at that point).
Could end with them both eliminating each other and then some type of "magic" end where they disappear.
If they wanted to extend it, a WM match could still be possible where they start in the ring (so we get the entrances/face off) for 5 minutes and head to the back/through the crowd (which turns into a pretaped cinematic match) and then return to the ring for 5 minutes or so to finish up. Would be nice to see Takers last match in front of a crowd.
I doubt anything like that will come to fruition and it might not be what it could have been 20 years ago, but it would still be cool for viewers and the crowd. Just because they have live crowds again doesn't mean that they have to fully abandon the cinematic matches - they just need to be very sporadic.
Cinematic matches were one of the few positive things to happen when they didnt have live crowds (and experimenting with the MITB in the offices/roof and things like Alexa's RR spots).
But again, it needs to be soon so it's not Underwalker vs. Stingeround.

Judt wait another 5 years and I bet we all watch an AI generated one and it’ll be better than anything reality would have offered us. 😂

Something is fishy with that whole "Taker didn't wanna do the match" thing..
Taker didn't wanna wrestle Sting but let Goldberg dump him on his head years later?
Taker didn't wanna wrestle Sting but he worked a Mania main event with a busted hip years later?
I think it's a mixture of Sting not coming in til late 2014 and in less than a year he's done because of the injury. They had a window of less than a year to do a match and Taker was dealing with the insecurities after Mania 30. I can see him not wanting to do the match in that time frame, sure, but I feel like if Sting came in earlier than he did we definitely would've seen them have a program together.

Yeah it seems weird tbh. Taker vs Goldberg but no Taker vs Sting lol ffs. I think WWE,Vince,Taker all just didn't wanna do it. There must have been others pushing for it tbh.... why leave big money on the table? I will never get it man.

Mainly because Sting thought he was too good to work for Vince - so much so, he wasted a good portion of his carreer, in tin-pot, TNA... Until he suddenly wasn't above working for Vince... but by the time he got over himself, both him and 'Taker were past it.

You have to understand that Sting had to protect his spot, selfish as it may seem but he could've been mid card bound in WWE. According to Road Dogg, on the day of Survivor Series 2014 Vince kept asking if "This guy Sting" was over enough to debut in the main event. I assume he was being sarcastic but if that's how Vince thought then maybe he was best steering clear all them years.

Sting is still a draw at 65 years old in 2024... 17K fans for his last match is big numbers. The WWE fans loved him in 2014/2015.

Sting would’ve gotten his ass WHOOPED by Undertaker and Kane if he came in 2001 lol DDP Booker T Kronik Kanyon Flair Hogan RVD Dreamer Between 01 & 02 Undertaker kicked those guys asses big time. Sting would've been no different. In fact I could easily imagine Sting's ankle being chained to Takers bike and getting dragged around the arena. 😆 🤣 😂 LOL. Sting in 01/02 vs Taker would have been a big mistake. The best timing would have been anywhere from 05-2019 tbh.

Had the match taken place anywhere near their physical primes, yes, it would have been interesting. After 2010 or so, it would have been in danger of being lackluster. Both guys were slowing down around this time, and it might have felt forced. It would have drew big money tbh

Maybe it's just me, but I've always found Sting Vs Kane to be a more appealing match. Another potential feud tbh.
