Ric Flair was NEVER that good. You mean when he put on a good match with someone as green as Luger he wasn't that good. When HE made Sting the star he became, he wasn't that good? When he got Steamboat over, he wasn't good? Flair was 16 time champion because he was good.' 16 times because he was popular not the other way around. You don't win the NWA title unless you are the best in the game. Flair could draw a crowd in BFE, that's a great worker. Tell him to take a backdrop correctly and have him call me in the morning.

I am almost sure that this is similar to the whole Austin backdrop deal. Flair would have suffered an injury most likely the plane crash that has meant he can't take such a bump. Austin is unwilling to take moves such as piledrivers and backdrops and wasn't willing to even while still an active wrestler in 97 onwards.

If you don't think Ric Flair is great, then I will come to your house and put your grandmother in the figure four and turn off her Matlock re-runs. This.

If he wasn't really good, I guess he wouldn't have won the world title 16 times in the first place.

Let me sum it up to everyone believing Flair's title reigns weren't a big deal:
Flair's titles reigns were a result of how GOOD he really was, not because his title regins made him good.
Seriously, if anyone wants a good representation of Ric Flair, buy his 3-disc set. Those are just some of his best matches , some being the key word.

I've never been real big on Flair as an in-ring talent, I mean he's good but not amazing, but he is a god on the mic.

Ric Flair is the greatest of all-time, folks. That is FACT. Don't believe me? Then go around one of the tape trading sites on the 'net and look for a 22-Disc collection of Ric Flair's matches. There you'll get all his classics from 1975-1995. I was watching discs 14-18 last night and relived his incredible 1988-1991 run. Amazing stuff against Sting, Luger, Koloff, the Midnight Express, Terry Funk, Tatsumi Fujinami, and Hulk Hogan.

I get a good laugh at people who say Flair got his titles because he is good. The Great Khali held the World Title for s sake. I'm not dissing Flair, but don't say him getting a title in a scripted sport makes him good.

Winning a World title back in Flair's time meant you were one of the best in the world and could make stars, have great matches, and put butts in seats. Unlike today's World titles where they're more or less props for a feud.

Also, Khali held it once, Falir held it 16 times. Enough said.

i think flair is worthy of his acclaim because he is the sole wrestler who was old school, and made it new school time and time again. he combined styles and evolved with the times.

To truly appreciate and undertsand how great Ric Flair was, you have to: - Have lived during the 80's and watched during Flair's prime - Watch a lot of 80's and 90's wrestling and try to understand why he was so great. IMO Flair is that great. Agreed. A lot of newer fans in the last 10 years just dont understand. Hell, they dont even understand the HBK love.

The reason this topic is even on here is because many wrestling fans are just young teenage kids, and I can understand why you would question whether Flair is "good" or not, if all you've seen is his last 2-3 years of action, at the most. As of wrestling fan for 20+ years now, let me ASSURE you that Flair is good.
Jim Ross has made the comment many times that Flair could have his own wing in the Hall of Fame, and that couldn't be more true. If you really want to know what Flair has meant to this business, tune into the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony the night before WrestleMania. I will be there in person. I was there when Hogan was inducted, and Hogan is my all-time favorite. But I have a feeling Flair's induction will be insane. Hell, it's being reported that several TNA employees and wrestlers have bought tickets to the show just to see Flair enshrined. Now THAT means you were really that good.
Trust me folks, Flair is the epitomy of what the wrestling business is about. From his promos, to his in-ring work, to his desire, the man has it all. He is the Michael Jordan of professional wrestling.
To ask "would he be that good without all the World titles" is like asking, "Would Joe Montana have been good if he didn't win 4 Super Bowls"? He won 16 World titles!
Ric Flair....... best ever...... period.

WTF!Ric Flair is a God in this industry. Even if you take away the World title reigns, you still have a talented guy who could in his prime carry anyone to a solid match, he could work heel or face, was an intense & quality interview. Even now the broken down version still has the timing to make what he does count, I'fd rather see Flair do a move for a reason than see Jeff Hardy's latest stuntman impression.FIXED
