We have Ozzy, Robert Plant, Kurt Cobain, Hendrix, Dimebag, and so many more... but, who's gonna be the rock god of the 2000's?
In my opinion it's Dave Grohl, he can play every instrument and was part of one of the biggest acts in both the 90's and 00's.
Who do you think is going to be the next rock god.

I'm not a Foo Fighters fan. Nor was I a Nirvana fan by any stretch of the imagination. But I'll give him his due. He's definitely among the elite.

You are lucky to have 2 hit albums now. Being able to do it for 17-18 years is incredible. Edit: Isn't Slash one? If not than he should be.

Gilmour is also a rock god, imo , but that's besides the point.
Grohl is defiantly one of the best today. He's in one of the only new groups I can stand to listen to. So in other words, I agree with Grohl being the next/current big thing in rock.

If only I didn't hate grohl so much. No one's really making a huge impact these days. All the **** that's popular sounds exactly the same. There's so so many bands out there. There's plenty of guys un-noticed who have amazing talent. They just won't go down in history because they won't move up. At least that's how I feel about it.

I think you are right, but Dave Grohl is still great and deserves to be among the elite.
Also, I think Trent Reznor is good, he records all the instruments on his album and has always managed to create something new and different
Maybe Anthony Kiedis from the RHCP because they are probably the most popular (of bands that really mattered, not Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy) of the 2000's up there with the Foo Fighters
Rush is definately deserving of being rock gods and in my mind they already are. They some are the greatest musicains in rock and in general and they don't get crap.
I think if Zakk Wylde play his cards right and with some more experience he can be great.
Phil Anselmo is definately a metal god. If he can bring Down or Superjoint or anything else to the level Pantera was at, there is no doubt he is a rock god.
And some other people I forgot to mention before that are already rcok gods Slash, Scott Weiland, Ronny J Dio, Layne Staley, Kerry King, James Hetfield, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart.

Axl Ro......hahahahahahaha yea right. I have to agree with you guys, Dave Grohl is phenominal. He keeps writing great songs unlike most of the crap out right now. The music business is terrible right now. I heard that song by Say Anything that goes "I called her on the phone and she touched herself" and thats when I really sat back and asked myself, is this what "music" is really coming to?. Its very rare to find talented bands anymore that have thier own sound and can make it.

That song's really tongue-and-cheeky, please don't judge Say Anything based on that. Listen to ...is a Real Boy for the real deal.

Phil Anselmo is definately a metal god. If he can bring Down or Superjoint or anything else to the level Pantera was at, there is no doubt he is a rock god. I saw Down live a couple weeks ago, had I not seen them, I'd say Phil couldn't do it. But after seeing how he had the crowd in the palm of his hand at that concert, I think that it is definitely possible. I mean they're already well known among many hard rock/metal fans, that's a start.

"Alive With the Glory of Love" has to be one of the best songs of this decade. "Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too" is not really a serious song, it's more for laughs, sorta like Black Flag and "TV Party". -CMD

I'm gonna say Jack White, can't think of anyone else. He's the Stones' BFF.

I think Dave Grohl is pretty much already a Rock God. His contributions to Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Probot, Queens of the Stone Age, and Tenacious D have seen to that.
Ones I think will be seen as legendary:
Rob Zombie Marilyn Manson Trent Reznor Jack White Scott Weiland Chris Cornell Tom Morello Anthony Kiedis Flea Axl Rose Slash Eddie Vedder

I don't throw the term "rock god" around much... I don't consider Dimebag a "god"... why, because he's ing dead? He was an average guitarist at best. Cobain too... Cobain was a hack of a singer with terrible vocal range, a mediocre guitarist, and a decent songwriter... I don't even know who I consider to be a "rock god"... I guess Jimmy Page... maybe Robert Plant, I don't even think he was that great of a singer. Eddie Van Halen probably falls into that category. Arguably David Lee Roth, but more for his showmanship than his singing ability(or lack there of). Ozzy, more for his act... he really never was that great of a vocalist, like Dave, he's a better performer. Steve Perry is a rock god, because he is the greatest singer ever.

Eh, I wouldn't really classify Grohl as a "rock god" to be honest.
I mean, yes he is incredibly talented and been in several great bands, but just because you know a lot of instruments doesn't really make you a rock god. By that logic, Prince, Trent Reznor, and Elliott Smith are rock gods. It seems like that term should only be used for bands or artists that defined a generation, not participated in one. The Beatles reinvented the entire musical industry, Pink Floyd mastered the experimental style of 70s rock, Sabbath and Zeppelin opened the doors for what eventually became metal, Metallica were one of the bands that defined thrash as well as becoming the biggest rock band in the world, etc... Obviously I'm not listing every single possible rock god, but you get my point. Truthfully, there's no one band or artist in our generation that served to define it. There is no sound to our generation, it's mostly just rehashing what was done in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Whoever the next "rock god" is, they most certainly haven't shown up yet.

I can't even consider any of the Beatles "rock gods"... they didn't play music I personally consider rock. When I think of a "rock god" I have a vision in my head of a pilar of awesomeness standing on stage doing his thing, while women hurl bra's and panties at him wanting to suck his throbbing cock.
Most rock stars are defined in pairs... Axl/Slash, Eddie/Dave, Mick/Keith, Jon/Richie, Robert/Jimmy, Steven/Joe... its hard to me to define one single person as a "rock god"... I actually find the term quite ridiculous.
