What's the point of this? Seriously, this is the worst poll ever.
My preference is rap, anyway.

I can't stand rap. I like some older metal but not that screaming and growling stuff.

Metal. I believe Metal actually has a message that isn't about hoes. Somebody had to open their mouth. You know, it could be argued that metal is all about death, anger, and isolation and who wants to hear all about that crap, but it isn't, because most genre-bending music fans realize that every genre has its own stereotypical sound that gets played out. The real quality in any genre is that which breaks the mold. Do yourself a favor, Kevin. Put down the guitar, get on your little Myspace machine, and look up Sage Francis, Paris, MC Lars, or hell, even Run DMC, and tell me that all rap is about hoes and doesn't have a worthwhile message.

I agree 100%. I dont know if people will agree, but GZA,RZA, and Tupac dont rap about hoes or drugs really. They actually talk about how it is out there and stuff. Ive been listening to them alot lately and they actually have a message. You just have to listen. And the only people that talk about hoes/drugs and stuff are gangsta rappers thinking they are the sh*t and people who have no sense or knowledge about things. Ex- Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne... They really shouldnt be in the rap industry. Im sorry but they shouldnt. Soulja is only good for party-type songs, which I guess im kinda ok with. But Lil Wayne is way too over-rated and his songs are decent at the least. People these days think that rap is trash and "all they do is rap about hoes and killing" but they dont see the other side of it. People like Soulja Boy and these "Gangsta" Rappers give rapping a bad name. All these rappers that actually have a message and rap about something dont get any credit because those kind of people screw it up. I love how these sucky and nonobjective rappers are mainstream and on TV 24/7 and the rappers that actually have a meaning to their songs arent shown at all. Thats why people these days think rap sucks. These are my opinions so dont bash me.

Why do you people hate it when people like metal, honestly. You can't say you do, or criticize rap without getting bitched at.

I like metal more. However, I like old school rap as well.. New school 'rap' isn't even rap...
If I hear "Crank that soulja boy" one more time, I think I'm gonna flip out...
BUT, I can listen to Biggie, Pac, Snoop, Red man, Method Man, any day.
