Paul Heyman, who is now a regular for the UK's tabloid Sun Newspaper had the following negative comments to say about Ric Flair's send off on Monday's Raw: "OK, so we're going for yet another emotional moment. We had 'em crying at the Hall of Fame. Had 'em at Mania. OK, one more to go. Let's give it to 'em on Raw. And after the first set of reunions for Flair, don't you think it was time for the mass curtain call, the standing ovation, the "thank you Ric" chants and goodnight everybody? It was a treat for everyone to see Ric reunited with Tully and Arn and Windham and JJ. Anyone who knows the story of how JJ left WWE, and the enormous heat between JJ and Vince will tell you, this was Vince McMahon doing what he felt was right for business. Hey, there's Ricky Steamboat. That's a nice tribute. Their worst matches against each should be considered all time classics. Those two were magic together. Michaels' appearance and hug makes it complete. That's some great emotion. But watching Flair cry because Chris Jericho says thank you? Hey, here's John Cena. And he's saluting Flair. Whooop de freakin' do. Yeah yeah, this is basic Thugonomics. What the hell does it have to do with anyone's favorite Flair memories? Cena? Jericho? Where's Fifi the French Maid?" "And please, I'm begging someone to tell Vince and Kevin Dunn that f'n song about leaving the memories alone is not something that tugs at the heart, nor does it add to the emotion of a Ric Flair testimonial. Play Strauss' Sprach Zarathustra - which was the theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey - all night long. That other song is just Vince and Kevin saying: "Here's the WWE touch to it all that makes it so great. Get over yourselves."

Well in a way, you gotta agree with him. It's not like he said anything negative about Flair or his legacy.

WWE stopped caring about what Heyman says a long time ago. I'm sure Flair had some sort of influence over Jericho's career, and I believe Cena was out there, representing WWE as a whole. He's the biggest star in the company, and he wanted to say thanks on behalf of World Wrestling Entertainment.

ofcourse there's a lot of truth to that, but hell, let flair go out how he wishes.

Agree 100%. John Cena had absolutely no business in that ring, and neither did Jericho really. Orton should have been in, since, you know, he was in Evolution just like Batista.

I don't think it was an issue... the retirement show was a 'WWE retirement show' and obviously WWE is gonna put its own spin on things, i.e. having notable WWE stars honor Flair. Normally I agree with Heyman but big in deal...

I agree with Cena not belonging in the ring for the whole thing, but Jericho and Flair were in WCW and is close with Dean and was close with Benoit both were horseman and were close to Ric, so maybe they got close during that time. I know Jericho is quoated in Flairs book about WCW also.

what does Heyman for that matter any of you know why Cena or Jericho was there. As Paul E. said JJ has heat with Vince. So it probably wasn't Vince's call to has Cena and Jericho out there but HHH's or Ric's. Heyman's just pissed cause they don't call him. Orton wasn't out there the same reason Taker and Vince don't go out during air time, so it wan't as Kayfabe. And as for the music, I thought it was great. I don't want to hear rics theme as great as it is played over and over when I've heard it a million times. Go away Paul E.

For all we know, Vince could've said, "I'll let JJ Dillon show up, but only if you let me send John Cena out there for no apparent reason."

Fully agreed. That stupid song was completely out of place lyrically and tonally. I love Jericho but didn't really see the impact he was supposed to have. Cena, I have no freakin' idea why he'd be out there.

I agree with the fact Cena shouldnt have gotten his own entrance into the thing. If anything Orton did deserve it as Flair had a direct influence on his career. Kinda would have been nice for Rhodes and Funk to come out though.

How does Cena represent WWE? Is he WWE Champion? No, Orton is. Plus Orton was in Evolution with Flair. It would make more sense.
