Off topic, but any suggestions on where to jump in watching the RA era? I was completely checked out of wrestling by that point, but want to see what I missed. Especially since I keep buying figures from that era haha Summer 2002 man. KOTR was suggested above & Brocks coronation is as good as place as any to start 👌 Really appreciate it! I checked out right around the brand split, so I must have just missed things heating up. Guess I need to dive in and see what I missed.

Would these fit marvel legends better than the others do? I'm guessing it depends on the marvel legends. Most of my ML figures either work perfectly or the stands have too big a peg. These have an even larger peg on them so outside of the large BAF sized figs I doubt these would work for MLs. I've found that the RSC stands will work for 95% of ML figures. If it seems like the peg is too large, throw a cup of water in the microwave for 60 seconds, let the figure sit for a minute or two, and you should be able to get them to fit on the peg. There are a few figures - Captain America comes to mind - where the peg hole is just way too large. So I could see the AEW stands working for select figures.

I don’t think the interview sets really need to be crowdfunded. They don’t seem like expensive pieces that need all the costs paid up front before going into production. It’s more than just expensive cost. Crowd funds are also for play sets that wouldn’t work in a retail space due to size or price point. And mainly due to space on store shelves They integrated the build a set concept pretty successfully in the Flashback line before it got killed. The Funeral Parlor and Piper's Pit seemed to be in the works if the line hadn't been killed. Not sure if that's still realistic in today's environment. But it's do-able. I think the crowd funding option is going to be reserved for bigger ticket (and higher ROI) options.

Why is it so crazy for someone to expect a figure to look like the wrestler? Wrong kneepads, details missing on tights, armbands placed wrong, forehead the size of the moon These seem like some honest criticisms, these are supposed to be premium figures, mattels constantly getting height, body size , colors and more wrong. If you want the figures to look accurate then you basically have to customize half the figures you buy They’re not supposed to be premium figures. They’re upper lower range figures. They’re not even Mattel’s premium figures never mind other brands who provide a more premium / collectable figure Mattel basics > mattel elites > mattel ultimates Totally agreed that a $20 price point isn't premium. And there are some situations where clearly budget, deco limitations, etc come into play, and that's understandable. But in all fairness, a lot of the issues are ones where the cost is irrelevant. Parts choices, knee pad style, correctly matching colors, etc aren't about the cost or price point. Releasing a janky looking head sculpt that is pretty widely roasted doesn't cost more than using an existing sculpt or simply improving the hairline. I don't get as bent out of shape as some do. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with expecting a realistic standard of quality and decision making. Just because they aren't premium figures doesn't mean I'm going to give them a pass on things that could be caught with a 15 second Google search.

I've been wondering something similar. Some of the comments during the AEW Q&A really surprised me - they seemed to back away from anything that could have even the most vague WWE association in ways that just doesn't line up with the laws as far as I understand them, or some relevant precedents like the Storm Hogan figures or Acclaim games.
Right now I'm taking a wait and see approach. All of the answers in the q&a were super vague, and right now we have two Luminaries figures to make assumptions off of, one of which is gear from 12 months ago. We can look at the AEW Micro Brawler Sting, which uses two Surfer looks and is under AEW branding. But overall I'm wondering if they simply decided it's not worth any potential legal fight, even if they'd eventually win. Jazwares isn't a large company, and WWE is notoriously litigious. Maybe it's easier to play it safe than run the risk of a lawsuit from WWE and get tied up financially and in terms of product.
It's just a shame, because ultimately collectors are left in the middle - Mattel will only work from the limited roster WWE provides to them, and Jazwares has talent we want, but may not be willing to come within a country mile of the attires we care about.

Looks like Hall is sold out. But I'm happy to grab Nash and HBK. Hopefully they actually fill the pre-order.

Ivo the circumstances don’t want to be too critical but can’t help but think razor would’ve been a better choice Much more colourful, you could’ve had the green, yellow red etc jackets Probably not something they can do since WWE owns the gimmick/name, unfortunately.

Oh man, that just lets me know that the Shango cape and warrior duster will be usable on the figures. That’s fantastic news That's a big part of why I see myself collecting this line. They're including some great accessories that have dual use with main line figures. Plus the figures themselves are pretty cool.

He was a guy was over without a belt in an era before the "you deserve it" championship runs. He's arguably the most influential wrestler to never win a world title. But it never felt like he needed one. I do think it's a little bit of revisionist history to say that his personal issues would have been a dealbreaker.
Shawn was a total train wreck during this period plus, and Vince basically built the entire show around him throughout 95 and 96. Turning Hall in early-mid 95 would have made sense - the roster was crazy unbalanced at that point with a bunch of top faces and basically no legitimate heels beyond Owen and Sid. But business was way down, and I wouldn't be shocked if Vince wanted to cling onto the merch revenue that Razor had as a face. Vince clearly was all in on Diesel's face run until it kept treading water, so I don't think Hall as a face champ trading with heel Diesel would have been in the cards.
Hall in the main event picture would have been a lot more engaging than his feuds with the Million Dollar Corporation and Jeff Jarrett.
In WCW, no. He was so insanely over in 96 and 97 that he didn't need the belt. And after the Goldberg feud, it felt pretty clear that personally and in the ring he wasn't in the kind of shape where you'd want him on top.

Anyone know what time it starts? 11am-6pm local time today and tomorrow. But photos will probably trickle out whenever if someone posts to social media or Bill posts - it's basically just a meet and greet.

I may be wrong, but I want to say Mattel said that Goldberg would have new molds after the initial release. I can live with that torso but they need to retire those overly muscular legs. Bill said it to be exact. It was right after the main event ring got released with OldBerg. We’re still waiting to this day. I’m hoping Steve could put in the good word for us. I’m just excited to retire my elite Goldberg fixups. Not doing unique torsos for a guy who you can get miles out of like Goldberg when they've done unique molds for Velveteen Dream and Ellsworth never made a bit of sense to me.

Wonder if this means something expired with Mattel? Possible, but I wouldn't think so. Big names have more leverage and may be able to negotiate non-exclusive contracts, where the lesser names basically just have to sign what Mattel gives them or get nothing. I think Andre is another one where his are non-exclusive, which is why we're seeing the Super 7 figures. Either way, this is freaking huge. And Chella had to have dropped some serious coin for the rights.

Is this purely speculation or based on a leak? I feel like I missed something. In the upcoming figure news thread, I think, someone posted a listing from a retailer that had a Greatest Hits heading and these wrestlers. So it's not confirmed but seems like it could be legit. Lineups from that vendor has been consistently accurate. I'd be pretty surprised if we don't see this line Mania weekend.

All the Walmarts near me got pretty large shipments of series 7 - probably 4-5 cases each. Yeah that’s what we got the second time as well. I live in small town Wyoming too so it makes it a hard sale. Yeah, they moved faster than I expected. All the Archers were gone within a day or two, and the rest sold within a couple of weeks. There are still a few Bucks and Nayas sitting around, along with the odd Kazarian. But I'm right outside a city. I could see shelves starting to clog up in more rural areas.

Re-releases with some minor improvements like TrueFX or minor deco improvements seems most likely. I'd imagine they'll be like the Top Picks line where they're pretty light on accessories, so things like cloth goods may be out.
On one hand, I'm not crazy about something like re-releasing an earlier Bam Bam when we still haven't gotten the purple flame gear. On the other hand, we're a decade in, there are so many figures at absurd secondary market prices, and there should be opportunities for newer collectors to build a collection without spending a fortune.
It's also possible they just do some repaints with different deco on existing designs. There would probably be very minimal added cost on Mattel's end, and it would expand the pool of potential buyers.

Nash's IG post hit me hard this morning. So many of my early wrestling memories involved Hall - the 123 Kid match, his IC match against Martel, the Nitro invasion. The guy was just magnetic, and seemed to ooze cool. There was just an aura that he and Nash had that couldn't be replicated - different from Hogan, or Austin, or the Rock.
It's crazy to see yet another childhood hero gone too soon. And my heart breaks for his friends. RIP, Bad Guy.

Just saw Nash’s IG post. Heartbreaking. The greatest to never hold a world title, imo. British Bulldog, Mr. Perfect and Rick Rude come to my mind aswell. But Hall could have been one of the big draws, if not THE one. I habe just finished watching the 2 years that let to WM IX and X and the way they had build up Razor was the way they treat a future world champion. After the ladder match it was clear that it is going to be the year of the Bad Guy. WM XI could have easily been Diesel vs Royal Rumble winner Ramon for the Main Event... Not really the time to argue semantics, but Hennig was the AWA champ, which was recognized as a world title even though the company was on the decline, and Rude won the title in WCW.
