Women’s: Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Bianca Belair. They’re the most likely candidates for me. Outside bets - Rhea Ripley, Naomi. Maybe Xia Li if it’s gonna be someone new. I’ll go with Sasha.
Men’s: I’m still holding out for the Big E vs Goldberg dream match at Mania, so I’m torn between Lesnar and McIntyre for the Rumble. Brock has to be facing Roman Reigns or Bobby Lashley at Mania.

Toni Storm loses clean after being made to look like a clown for weeks. The lack of care for fresh new talent in this company is disquieting. Last week you were crying that Omos gets to work with AJ Styles, so let’s stop pretending you care about newbies. The only thing you care about, throughout all of your repackagings as cam89/bangarang/ fish36/etc, is Fed Bad. Maybe you should take this random Twitter guy’s advice:

Awful idea that benefits literally nobody (except the girls who get to learn by wrestling the Queen). None of those promotions or titles mean anything to anyone other than the creepy “m’waifu” weirdo fans, all of whom already hate Flair anyway. Most of the promotions are way too small-time to run a show big enough to make a profit on booking Flair. And WWE loses one of their top heels for a year. Worst of all worlds.

That's because 90% of the WWF roster in early 2002 was well known, or a main event star. The same can't be said for today sadly. Naked Mideon was my favorite main eventer Mideon never wrestled in WWE after the first brand split. Also, to TC, if you thought the first brand split was awesome, you weren’t in tune with the wrestling Internet at the time.

I expected this to be a tg11 thread. I'm mildly inconvenienced. Anyway, there's no way they don't run at least one Women's Championship match on the show plus the Women's Royal Rumble, nor would they stick Becky/Charlotte/Sasha/Bianca on the goddamn Kickoff. You forgot two things: 1) tg11 never makes predictions for events this close. If it was a Rumble 2023 thread the day after Rumble 2022, thats tg11 territory. 2) CRD hates women’s wrestling.

One of the night problems with wrestling games is they’re just reversal fests, so 2K introducing reversal limits was the biggest gameplay improvement in many years.

Between upgrades/improvements, expanding the Hasbro era roster (especially with WCW), and expanding to other eras, there are plenty of options. The Hasbro Rick Rude was an embarrassment, so they Mattel could still do a long hair and a short hair version of him. Personally, a steel cage ring with Warrior, Rude and a retro WWE title would be a must-buy.
Even if the releases are always in loosely-themed sets of four, there’s tons new to do:
Undertaker New Gen: Undertaker (purple gloves, no hat), Paul Bearer, King Mabel, Kama
New Gen villains: Jerry Lawler, Isaac Yankee, Bob Backlund, British Bulldog (short hair)
Best of 1996: Rocky Maiva, Vader, Faarooq, Shawn Michaels (boyhood dream era)
D-Generation X: Triple H (legs not stuck together), Chyna, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn
New World Order: Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, X-PAC
Cruiserweight Champions: Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Brian Pillman, Hurricane
SummerSlam 91: Macho Man, Miss Elizabeth, Sgt Slaughter (no hat), Col Mustafa
Fantasy Tag Team Match: Hart Foundations vs Harlem Heat or Hollywood Blondes
Heenan Family: Bobby Heenan, Andre (blue singlet/sideburns), Rick Rude, Big Studd
Jimmy Hart & clients: Jimmy Hart, Honky Tonk (ring gear), , Earthquake (Natural Disasters singlet), Hulk Hogan (2002 style)
Hulkster & Friends: Hulk Hogan (WM9), Brutus Beefcake (WM9), Tugboat, Mr Wonderful
ECW: Rob Van Dam, Terry Funk, Cactus Jack, Paul Heyman
Austin vs McMahon: Austin (t-shirt & jeans), Vince McMahon, Dude Love, Big Bossman
Women’s Evolution: Alundra Blayze, Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair
International Superstars: Lord Steven Regal, Drew McIntyre, Edge, Undertaker (ABA)
Urban Legends: Dusty Rhodes (yellow boots), Kamala (moon on belly), USA Lex Luger, Greg Valentine (black hair)
Ruthless Aggression: Batista, MVP, JBL, Triple H (trunks)

It really surprises me that someone like Andre the giant is not locked down for a retro figure. I guess they are just taking this line as it comes but still it shocks me that independent toymakers can make a licensed figure in the same format WWE is currently marketing with one of the most iconic personalities of all time. His Hasbro figure was pretty perfect and captures his most iconic look, so it’s not an easy one to top, the way a ring gear Piper is. I think Andre would be much more likely if Big Show was still around, as there’d be two uses to do that body mold then. Although they may already have the mold made from when Andre was going to come with the ring.

He got paid. He’s not gonna be used as anything more than a main event enhancement talent. He’s the guy who works with big guys and takes the pinfalls. I guess his focus was on money and security. Or he might enjoy performing and not be a bitter mark who gets upset whenever he “loses” a pretend fight. 😂 Knowing Vince, DAE Owens will be released in six months anyway.

I don’t even notice them anymore unless there’s something unique about it. I think I’m pretty desensitised to them, which suggests there are too many. I’m more bothered by suicide dives though, as they mean nothing anymore, and they’re dangerous and people do them all the time.
In general, wrestling has “too much” on any one show. Almost nothing gets protected or made special - matches on the same card see the same finishes, the same moves, the same storylines etc. In an era where very few wrestlers have memorable characters, they don’t help themselves stand out by doing the same thing as everyone else. Every wrestler should have a USP.
Kyle O’Reilly, for example. Neither WWE nor AEW needs him on the roster. He doesn’t bring anything to the table that you can’t already get from Adam Cole, Daniel Bryan, Pete Dunne, Cesaro, Finn Balor, Tommaso Ciampa etc. He’s a “nice to have” but he’s never going to be an essential, game-changing superstar. And his presence on a roster makes those other similar guys seem less unique. On the same note, but less suicide-dicey, Commander Azeez would probably be a bigger deal right now if Omos wasn’t around.

Assuming the plan is Roman vs Rock at WrestleMania 38, and that the roster is largely the same as it is now, I’d have him keep the title until around SummerSlam or Survivor Series time next year. And have Rock involved somehow in the title loss (or in a rematch where Reigns fails to win it back), so that there’s a bit of a blame game. I think the championship makes the outcome of the match more obvious, so I’d want to separate that.
As for who would beat Roman? In the current landscape, I can only see it being one of: Lesnar, McIntyre, Big E, Rollins, Orton, Lashley or Riddle.

I’ve enjoyed most of his career. The highlight for me was the 2010/11 heel phase, supporting Miz and trashing season three of NXT. I was a big fan of him and JBL on SmackDown in 2006/07, but I don’t know if it’d hold up today. Him and McAfee is my favourite commentary team in a long time, possibly ever, but that might be recency bias. He’s been on commentary on one show or another for almost 25 years now, I don’t think anybody else has had even close to that kind of tenure.

Welp, looks like we won't won't getting a Gargano to match Theory and no O'Reilly from his singles run. I was hoping for a Kyle O’Reilly figure based on that weird cringe hipster look he was doing before 2.0. Would’ve made a good lackey in a faction with Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss.

With Road Dogg and HBK they even already have their own Pritchards and Dunns. Neither Road Dogg nor Shawn Michaels can do Kevin Dunn’s job, but I’m sure they already have production people upskilled in line to take over when he retires. It would be very unlikely that a wrestler would end up in that role.

Is there a reason they are hyping this up as 2 women main eventing? Isnt this like the billionth time? Im sure Charlotte has done it. I know Bliss-Banks main evented at least once. It was the 17th anniversary of the first time a women’s title match (and a women’s match in general) main evented Raw. Also possibly testing how Liv does in a main event.

The lack of legend females was a big factor in me getting out of collecting. When I see what Chella is doing and the talent, it's a clear sign that talent is out there and that either WWE doesn't see the need to sign them or the talent/estate don't want to sign the soul owning WWE deals. So soul owning that Jake the Snake and Billy Gunn have WWE legends contracts yet are regular characters on another wrestling TV show.

I really want a wrestling game that leans heavily into historic events or really just something like what NHL does with relive the moment. I used to love that feature in sports games back in the SNES up to around PS2 days. I’ve never really enjoyed the showcases in modern WWE games though. I feel like nowadays the graphics are too close to reality, and it makes it seem more “uncanny valley” because the differences between the real event and the game scenario are more pronounced, compared to the more abstract older graphics.
