Honestly, it would have made more sense than Vince winning it for a few days. As someone else mentioned, it wouldn’t have been shocking to see him steal the title during the Corproation era, only to have his a** handed to him shortly after. Shane was booked as cowardly and weak, but smart as hell and one of the fastest guys in the ring so it could have worked with the right story.
Could he have won it? Sure. Should he have won it? It wouldn’t have bothered me either way, especially in hindsight when we’ve had plenty of undeserving performers win a world title in recent memory.

It's HHH. He's not going to go to bat for Cody. Why would he? Cody was a loser who went elsewhere and started shoveling shet all over HHH, his reputation, career and his legacy. He started another company with the hopes of chopping down HHH's reign of power and control. He would openly mock HHH on TV and PPVs. And when none of that worked he went crawling back to HHH. Had things worked out for Cody he'd still be in AEW taking those same shots and HHH knows that. If HHH could still wrestle we all know they'd have a Mania match and HHH would have won. That's not an option though now so HHH will just find another way to do what he does. Slipping Rock into Cody's spot and cucking him on live tv sounds very much like something HHH would HAPPILY do to Cody. If HHH wanted to I'm sure he could sit down with TKO executives and lay out the story they've been planning, the ratings bumps, increase in merch sales, increase in ticket sales, videos of fan reactions, social media views etc. and make an easy case for Cody. Financially you can cash ONE payday with The Rock, or have a money printing machine in Cody. But why would HHH do that? If you had the power to back an old coworker who you got along with or an old coworker who trashed you when they were gone and then came back, who would you choose? If you were as vindictive as HHH, who would you choose? You must be living under a rock with Dwayne 😉 Hunter has openly and repeatedly endorsed Cody as their guy to be out there with the fan, making the wishes, and doing the PR. Cody didn’t “crawl” back, much like his counter part Dwayne has now done. Cody was contacted by Vince and Co. so much so that they came to him. Is the rock a quick cash grab and main stream media attention getter, sure. Will those people care to keep up with the week to week after seeing the headline, nope. Roman and Rock are going to be unmerciful boo’ed out of the stadium at Mania. Maybe Roman will get cheers, but Rock pigeon holed himself into the same spot that Randy and Batista were in at WM30. No one wants to see this take precedence over Cody and the culmination of “Finishing the story”. Rock breaks records though, he now holds the esteemed honor of having the most disliked video on WWE socials. You should be use to WM main events with Roman being boo’d out of the building by this point. Won’t be any different than WM32, 33, and 34.

We got that already and it sucked. That's the joke lol. Imagine the awkwardness if they had another one Austin has already admitted that awkwardness was his fault and apologized to him. Mox isn’t a super-social person to begin with and was forced to do it. Austin kept prodding him about his childhood and that clearly is a sore sport for him that he didn’t want to get into publicly. Austin then said Mox needs to be more like him and speak up about booking, and Mox plainly laid it out that it’s not 1997 any more and things don’t work like that.

I know the war officially ended in 2001 but in my book it was over by the time they debuted this logo. Anything during this era I’m not interested in. While s*** had already begun to hit the fan when they debuted this logo and the “war” wasnt really a war anymore, I still enjoy 1999 WCW until Russo took over. It’s silly and often makes no sense, but this era is still nostalgic to 9 year old me. It’s not the best game but WCW Mayhem got a ton of play out of me.

Anyone find the Hogan 3-pack in the McHenry County area? Target app has never shown it in stock and no luck at any stores.

This is why I’ll always find it funny when fans today try to argue that Cena and Roman are as popular as Hogan, Austin, and Rock. They couldn’t hold a candle compared to just how popular those three were during their primes.

I’m a fan of Scott’s entire career, but I always associate him with “Big Poppa Pump.” Him going after Kimberly Page and attacking guys with the lead pipe from ‘99/00 is my favorite era of his.

I believe that Booker would have been worse off coming in later. And this is going to sound contradictory, but had he come in in 2002, he'd have been at the exact same status on the card as he actually was in 2002 - IE mid-card at best, doing comedy skits and not really progressing up the card. He'd have been glass-ceilinged. The difference however is that the year prior in 2001, Booker benefitted from an upper card Invasion run which really showed people what he was capable of. Despite slipping down the card in 2002, that actually gave him more strings to his bow and showed another side to him. And Vince clearly loved him for it because he had a stellar first half of 2003, and again in 2006. Had he not had the 2001 run, he would not have progressed up the card in 2003 and who knows whether he'd have ended up after that. Great point about when he actually showed up right after the purchase of WCW. Booker himself mentioned this on the JBL show a few years ago that he chose the buyout right away as had he waited, he’d have been lost in the shuffle with other WCW names eventually showing up. He knew that he didn’t have the name power of Hogan, Sting, Flair, Steiner, Nash, Goldberg, ect… and decided joining right away would help him get a leg up on them.

On the “Last Nitro” podcast of Something to Wrestle With, Bruce Pritchard said that they had no clue when airing the show as to which talent would be included with the purchase and who were under the lucrative Time-Warner contracts. Bruce said they booked the show to send fans home happy and give them hope for the future.
What’s interesting with this is that they booked Booker T to win the WCW Title and walk out with the two top titles in the company despite not knowing whether they had him under contract or not. Booker has since commented that he was on a Time-Warner contract, and like DDP, decided to take a buyout in order to join the WWF right away. While he wasn’t the first “WCW star” to show up on WWF programming following the purchase, him attacking Austin at KOTR was seen as the bang that started the whole “Invasion” angle.
However, what happens if Booker didn’t take the buy-out? He left a ton of money on the table like DDP and could have easily sat at home with the two top belts from WCW. Does the Invasion storyline even come to be if Booker isn’t involved? The angle was already seen as a flop when it started due to the lack of star-power from the WCW side of things, and this would have only left them with DDP as a legit top-guy (and we all know how he was viewed by Vince and Taker).
Does the WWF still try to run the Invasion angle without Booker T and the top belts in the company? Do they just skip the Invasion angle and slowly introduce the performers without mentioning their WCW background?

Strange times indeed for Randy. Following late 1997 I just didn’t care much for Randy any longer. I wasn’t a fan of Sting playing fourth-wheel to the Hogan-Savage-Nash drama, and his appearances in 1999 were even more bizarre. I had no desire to see him feuding over the world title in 1999 either (as well as Hogan). That time should have been focused on Goldberg, Steiner, Booker, ect…but instead we got Hogan-Savage-Nash as the main feud once again.

Loving this B&R set and looking forward to the heavily rumored BF set next. I grew up with the original four movies so I’ll buy anything Todd puts out from them.
