both had similar good careers outside of the tag team and both were equal imo, when teaming until very end when ax got old/injured

im glad he didnt really. i really wasnt a fan of bret/shawn getting the big spotlight like they did. to me they were smaller IC champ type guys. at least until later in 1997 and later was ok tho.

I know the Rock N Roll Express were tag team wrestling but honestly while I did think they were entertaining I really didn’t care for them. Meaning while I liked them even back then they weren’t ever in my “top 5“ let alone a “top 3” favorite teams. yeah but there 4 time tag champs and major staple of nwa tag team wrestling.

to add to the if sid won rr92 thread, what if piper got the win?
say they decided to give him the win and let him win both belts in one night. it woulda been a huge deal with him never having a belt then with both. ending coulda played out the same with flair beating piper down on other side of ring, then going over and doing the hulk/sid/flair part, then turns around and piper is there, and piper tosses him out. flair still gets over with NY crowd going 60 minutes and being last guy in.
then it coulda been piper vs flair & still hulk vs sid at mania, and savage wrestles jake and undertaker gets warlord or someone like that to basically squash.
or flair wins belt off piper at a snme, then defends vs hulk at mania. sid vs taker, savage vs jake. hart vs piper still.
any thoughts? anyone else was hoping piper was gonna both? i sure did after he won IC belt earlier.

i prsoanlly woulda loved it. goin in, he was who i wanted to win it. after piper won the IC belt earlier that night, i wanted piper to win it to win both belts. but sid winning woulda shook things up a bit. as others have said, coulda been sid/taker for belt, hulk/flair, jake/savage at mania then. or kept it same but hulk/sid has belt on the line insteaf of flair savage. BUT i do LOVE the way it went down with flair winning.

Nothing tops this one for me, just amazing from bell-to-bell. same here! main event in 1988, both tag team matches 87/88, and 89's hulk vs dibiase's team round out my top 5!

was SOOOO wanting luger to win it here. survivor series stays basically the same, but borga cheats to beat luger. then luger defends against borga at royal rumble. bret wins rumble. bret beats luger at mania for belt (with cheating ref mr perfect's help).
