Just curious if anyone else around here likes lifting. I really recommend it to everyone. It's a great release and is complementary to any cardio routine. You can design a weight training program for mass gaining, weight loss, toning, muscular strenght or endurance, explosiveness or just overall health and well being. I personally design my routines to focus on strength, explosiveness, and mass gain during the winter. Then during the spring and summer, I focus more on blood flow and toning to get the old beach body back, haha.
Currently I am 5'7'' 200lbs at about 7% body fat. I have been weight training for about 5 years, and it is something I am very passionate about. My numbers are as follows:
Clean: 315 Squat: 500 Deadlift: 530 Bench 335
Those are the core lifts I focus on. I have never done any competitions, but hopefully this spring I will be doing a powerlifting meet and perhaps an olympic lifting meet. So let's get a discussion going. Post your numbers/favorite lifts/ whatever else. Any questions are welcomed as well. Chat away...

That's some impressive stats bro. I've been weight lifting for about two years, but it wasn't until this year that I got really serious about it and cut all the noob **** out. I plan to start my bulking right after the new year, and I'll probably cut for summer. Lifting is pretty great for relieving stress, and the feeling after an intense session is fantastic. Anyone looking to start bodybuilding, read Mark Rippetoe's "Starting Strength" book. It's ing fantastic.

Duh, I'm tough. That was the whole purpose of this post was to display my toughness to all those who look upon this post. Bow before me! haha.
I come from a lifting family, and all those who work out with me are about 100 lbs above me in every lift. I'm the runt of the litter. The next smallest person I lift with is 6'2'' 270. It's motivating though to see people putting up some huge weights around you though. Lifting, as with anything, is not going to imporve if you surround yourself with people who aren't as good as you. That is just one of the many life lessons that can be learned through exercise, haha.

I'm getting back into lifting for track. Right now, I do 3 sets of 90 15x for bench, and 3 sets of 30 DB Press 10 times.
It is a great stress reliever.

I really like it. Ive had it ever since 7th grade. Im in 10th now. Im 16, about 145 pounds, and 5'9" and I
Bench: 215 Squat: 280 Clean: 195 Deadlift: Unknown
You would murder me though haha. I plan on benching 300 by my senior year lol

I've been on and off. I'm a pretty skinny person I'm roughly 5'8 and I'm 120 pounds. I benched 125 at school. So I was happy at doing my own weight. I got a bench and all that at home so I may start up again.

Yes, I love weight lifting very much. I do it twice a week now though, I cut back. I run long distance once a week and speed work twice a week. So 5 days total, 2 lifting, 3 running.

Only been lifiting for about 2 and a half years. I'm a Sophmore, so I'm only in the middle of what my full max should be.
Bench: 225 Squat: 315 Clean: 205 Deadlift: 305

I take Sizon (creatine pills) in the morning, Anabolic Luecine Stack as a pre-workout, Torrent or Anator as a post-workout, and a protein shake sometime during the day. This is in addition to a multivitamin (everyone should take one), melatonin for good sleep and a colon cleanser for good poops. Laugh if you might, but you would be surprised by how good it will make you feel and how much weight you can drop.
Really I just recomend a multi, a creatine, a pre-workout with some caffeine in it (and probably an NO booster), and a protein supplement. That should have it all covered. One last piece of advice: buy online. GNC is pretty much a ripoff.
Joey: Those are some good numbers for how young you are. Remember to change up your workouts to avoid plateaus and don't over train. Those were my two cardinal mistakes in high school. I was in the gym 3 hours a day, 5 days a week rotating the same lifts over and over. It really hurt my numbers.

Creatine through pills or powder is not worth it. It's been linked to cancer, which does not mean it is a cause. It also has been down to kill your kidneys and liver, like instantly. Picture running sand through your kidneys... literally the same thing.
Just lift hard and eat a lot of red meat if you want safe creatine.
Believe it or not, Whole Milk is a great protein boost to drink here and there.

I've been told I need to bulk up a good bit. I'm starting a whole new routine and what not starting in 09 which will hopefully lead to better bookings.

Weight-lifting sounds awesome. My friends been doing that and morning work outs for school the last 4 months and hes pretty ripped now, haha. Ive been doing push ups religiously for the last month, every day. I also am really looking into buying the P90X system. Have any of you guys tried it?

A lot of people overlook those, but for an athlete they are super important. They help with explosive strength which is imperative in most sports. In general they are great because they work everything in your body and even can have cardiovascular bennefits. It looks like you have already made some great gains over the years. Keep it up!
