Everybody keeps talking about Brock's small gas tank... many people are mistaken when they see a guy breathing heavy. Brock is one of the most conditioned guys in there, he just doesn't control his breathing. get serious he is horribly conditioned in the cardio deparment..after that first round dude was DIEING..watch a youtube replay..once that round was over he was yelling for his stool so he could sit...breathing heavy is not a sign of not controlling your breathing its a sign of exhaustion. When there is not enough oxygen in the muscles .. like Brock was after 1 god damn round with Couture. It was easy against Herring because Herring is a joke and pretty much just layed there and took the beating. Couture made Brock work...his Cardio FLAT OUT SUCKS.

As he gets more accustomed to fighting, he's going to be more controlled in breathing as well.

Honestly, there's no shame in admitting that Brock was scared and nervous when he walked into the Octagon against Couture. This isn't even a point of argument- the guy admitted it himself! I don't see this happening with Mir. I see Brock walking into Mir/Lesnar II with an epic confidence boost and a chip on his shoulder since, by the time this fight rolls around, I think both men will legitimately not like each other. Regardless of who wins, I think this will be a good fight. I think it'll surprise a lot of people on both sides of the fence: pro-Brock and pro-Mir. Either way, it'll be good to finally have an undisputed champion again and move forward with the HW division.

You dont think Mir will come on with a chip on his shoulder and even more confidence. He beat Lesnar, and DESTROYED someone who never got stopped before. Lesnar loses, and then wins unimpressively over Herring and gets a title shot... so that can swing both ways too..

I think everyone will agree, that Lesnar destroyed Herring who could be argued as a top ten heavyweight in the world, and it was impressive has Herring was regarded as one of the best strikers and he was outstriked and was taken down at will, although Lesnar should of capatalised and sunk some hooks in, he still did enough for me to be impressed, with that being said, if mir can avoid take downs, mirs striking is not as powerful but far more crisp, this should have all the makings of a complete warrrr!!!

Oh, make no mistake, I think Mir will walk into this rematch the most prepared he's ever been in his life. Mir's head finally snapped into place regarding his cardio. He busted his ass to get in good enough shape to where he felt he could "go all night". He reaped the rewards that training hard and getting good cardio produces, and I think the Achilles Heel that was his cardio will no longer be a factor as long as he's given opponents that motivate him enough to go that extra mile and make sure he won't gas if the fight goes long. If the Mir that shows up to rematch Lesnar is the same Mir that showed up to defeat Nog, then Lesnar is in for a very, very long night. Add to this the fact that Mir isn't afraid of Lesnar (and again, this takes away nothing from Mir since he admitted it himself that he was scared going into his match with Nog) and Mir has all the ingredients to weather Brock's storm and snatch an arm or a leg, even if he gets a bit of his ass handed to him. I'm pulling for Mir either way, even though I think there's far too many X factors to rule out either man winning.

if mir can avoid take downs, please explain to me why Mir should avoid takedowns. I would love to hear why a black belt in BJJ, and one of the best if not THE best HW Submission artist in the UFC, should avoid a take down from an opponent with such little experience and such little submission defense >? this goes to the ground, and Lesnar is getting tapped out AGAIN.

I would have to agree. I think a lot of people, this guy included, are suffering from 'recency syndrome.' Because Mir JUST fought and showed a vastly improved standup game, that's all some people can look at. They don't recall that Mir's ground game is quite good. Not to mention it's also that lingering mentality that the guy on the bottom is screwed. Mir was on the bottom against Brock the first time and he locked up the kneebar...I don't need to delve into the 27035890534 examples in MMA where a guy on the bottom pulled off a sub to win, but the point is there. If Mir gets taken down, yeah he'll be in danger but ultimately the mat is where he may have the BEST chance of beating Brock. Brock's no great shakes as a striker, at least from what we've seen... he seems robotic and one dimensional, although his knees looked good against Randy. Mir has never been known for having good striking either, but obviously he's been working on it. But it's ultimately a question of Mir's mentality and gameplan. Does he feel like he needs to be on the mat to win again, even if it means catching some horrendous GnP? Or does he take the chance on the feet matching his power with Lesnar's and hoping to outstrike him? I wouldn't be shocked with either scenario. Brock's really never been hit standing up in MMA by someone who can really rock him. Herring could have if he would have connected with something, but Randy and Mir are not known as big punchers, and Randy never really hit much of anything on Brock and neither did Mir. Who knows, Brock might have that Gary Goodridge thing going on: huge scary guy who surprisingly has no chin. But I doubt it...generally guys with huge necks and strong jaws tend to take a punch pretty well. This'll be interesting, but ultimately I don't think Brock will have gained enough extra experience in the year following the first Mir fight to overcome the sheer experience edge Mir holds no matter where the fight takes place. Mir will take it.

Brock should of stopped him if not for poor refereeing, ? why does everyone use that excuse ? Ive heard the referee card to many times about why Brock lost that match..watch the replay homeboy..He was throwing shots to the back of the head. It was not a bad ref decision to stand them up. they were illegal blows plain and simple. thats almost as bad as me saying the only reason Brock beat Couture is because Couture is OLD. its just a scapegoat.

Speaking from experience, and being a big guy 6'3" 260 when I was a high school wrestler. Being winded and being gassed are two different things. Some people never get the breathing down, I never did, but when I was winded, I was not gassed. 90% of the time technique wins over strength. Mir definitely has the technique in the bag. But you shouldn't count Brock out because he's only had 4 MMA fights. The dude wrestled for 12 years, he's been training for MMA for about 3 years now, he has plenty of experience to compete. You of all people should know this since you claim to be a huge Randy fan, that Randy came into the UFC as a college wrestling coach, and the only non wrestling experience he had was a little boxing in the Army. Look what he's done. What's your next excuse?

Ive watched the fight, for the speed brock was throwing the hammers it was impossible with Mir squirming not to land a few on the back, it was clear Mir was in no position to intelligently defend himself, and was just moving in attempt to avoid the blows by barely moving his head. Also, from what we've seen Brock is a G n P specialist, how could it no be in his game to apply it, even on BJJ master such as Mir.

No matter how fast he was moving he still hit Mir in the back of the head.. Does it give the ref the right to stand it up?? Maybe not. But the fact is Brock hit him on the back of the head. The ref made the decision to stand them up... Hell maybe he decided since Brock was going ape nuts with the hammer fists and probably was so full of adrenaline that he would not have paid attention to the demands to stop the back fo the head shots that he stood it up to stop Brock from breaking the rule.... Either way is its not Mirs fault that it was stood up.. Its Brocks even if the ref did it on a bad call it was still Brocks fault. He did something to make the ref sand it up and that was back of the head shots. Mir got him in a submission and Brock tapped, end of story....

I think it's highly questionable officiating when he lands one or POSSIBLY two hammers to the back of the head that were clearly unintentional and happened as Mir was twisting trying to improve position and they not only get stood up, but Brock is deducted a point. Generally I like Stevie Mazz but he was acting VERY bizarrely that night. I felt it was quite unfair to Brock. At the same time I think that as bad as that call was, it ultimately didn't affect the outcome of the fight as much as people think. Mir was lucid the whole time, and he was right back on his back after the standup anyways, and despite this, he still wound up catching Brock. If Mir was as horrendously close to being stopped as some people claim, Brock would have just jumped all over Mir after the standup and finished the job anyway. Generally, guys who are REALLY badly rocked need more time than Mir got to recover. If Mir was about to go out or was really getting bombed on as badly as some people would have you believe, he would not have finished the fight. I'm kind of glad now that we get to see Mir/Brock II because it'll hopefully clear up a lot of this ****.

the only thing to me that the ref did wrong was take away a point. He should have had a warning, stood them back up, and let it go.
Taking the point was not necessary. I cant wait for this rematch. it will answer a lot of questions.

I want to see Brock knock Mir the out in the first round. Not because I don't think Mir is a great fighter, but because I think it would be hilarious.

i think this time lesnar wil be ready 4 mir and may even do it in the 1st and Mir will also be ready for Brock... you guys think that its a one sided fight. like Lesnar is going to go in there all hyped and prepared and Mir is just there so Brock has an opponent.. Mir is focused higher than ever before and is in GREAT shape... and I dont think he is really an underdog in this fight at all. I think its an even fight going in.
